Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #14 featuring CATastrophic Connections

Welcome to

The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Pawesome greetings fellow bibliocats

Welcome to another Wednesday on the blog.

Oh my what a fabulous week, apart from all the high-tension and stress on Tuesday Tails yesterday, I've been languishing on my ladder without a care in the wurld.

I've been adding to my to read list and scouring the interwebs fur future books to review as even though I read oodles of books on my three week sabbatical, it won't be long until I've shared them all with mew! MOL

And now that the nights are drawing in, fur us that means more reading time as who wants to be outside in the dark when it's cold and possibly raining, I'm more of a;  get the P.A. to make a fire in the sitting room, get snuggled in a soft blankey and while the hours away with a good book, there's nothing better.

Anyhoo let's get to this weeks novel!

This week on Book Reviews with Amber, I'm sharing

CATastrophic Connections

A Psycho Cat and the Landlady Mystery

by

Joyce Brown

I think it is a little misleading to say this is true cat cozy mystery, as while it has a cat Sylvester aka Psycho Kitty featuring, he is not an active and integral part of the plot.  He just makes random appearances here and there with mainly little or no input unlike other cat cozy mysteries I have reviewed.

That aside it was an enjoyable read, howeffur I think Sylvester should have had a much larger role throughout.

It is well-plotted and has plenty of twists and turns to keep mew guessing, and it does make a great rainy day read as a mystery novel as long as mew don't want the kitty in the starring role.

At the moment I'm not sure if I'm going to delve further into the series, I think I'll put the series on stand-by fur when I have nothing else.

Paperback copy: 248 pages long

  1. Oh, that is a shame, I do like it when we cats get to play an active role in proceedings. If it is well read then I will get peep to buy the first one and read it to me... maybe the later ones will improve? purrs ERin

    1. Erin, it's a good book, but I thought there'd be more kitty action as that's what the title implies - they lied! purrs Amber xox

  3. You've got a great idea about spending the dark, rainy evenings with a good cat-themed mystery book. It stinks that there wasn't more kitty in this book. The cover and title certainly make it seem like the cat would be a main feature of the story. At least it was still a fun mystery!

  5. I just went to the library last night to stock up for the cool fall nights. Reading is my ideal fall activity. I might need to add this book to my list for next month, given your good review.

MOL Oh don't wurry about the P.A. bringing in the ladder, I'm going to use the miniaturizer ray gun on it to make it the exact size fur the library then in the summer I can take it outside again, make it big again and get right up there in the dizzying heights of the big blue! 8. Amber, we love that you are so honest in your reviews. We do like books where the cats play a central role, but it sounds like a good book overall.

    1. Guys, look it was a good mystery book, but I like more kitty involvement like mew, so it sadly didn't deliver on that front, but as I said in another comment, may be the next in the series has more kitty action???? but aftur that one I'm in no hurry to find out... purrs Amber xox

  11. Well, I haven't read this book, but I agree with you. Sylvester should have a larger role. Because cats are the best!
