This week I'm sharing

Storm Front: The Dresden Files

Book One

by

Jim Butcher

(sorry there's no book cover to share as it's the audio version)

Here's A Small Snippet of the Book Blurb:

My name is Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. Conjure by it at your own risk. I'm a wizard. I work out of an office in midtown Chicago. As far as I know, I'm the only openly practicing professional wizard in the country. You can find me in the yellow pages, under Wizards. Believe it or not, I'm the only one there.

>^.^<

A modern-day wizard in an urban fantasy novel; not my usual kind of book to review here but I thought I'd mix it up a little today and yes there is a cat, he's called Mister and happens to be a rather large, grey feline. Although Mister is there just for a bit of fluff and is not really part of the plot.

I remember watching the TV show adaption of this series years ago and really enjoyed it, howeffur this is the furst time I actually got around to getting my mittens on a copy of the audiobook.

Harry Dresden is a private investigator, who happens to be a little inept but he has a good heart.  After a rather nasty double murder, some gallivanting around town, near-death experiences and a whole host of magical phenomenon happening things really get weird but I'm not going to spoilerize it as mew know I don't do that.

Not quite as fun as the TV series but most enjoyable all the same. If mew like a good urban fantasy novel this is a total must for your audio library.  A nice unabridged adaption, purrfect for a lazy afternoon during lockdown.

I do hope mew enjoy this series if mew decide to give it a try, and if mew've read it already, what did mew think?

*    *    *

Sadly it's time fur me to say BFN or bye-fur-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just fur mew. And don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time

Keep calm and read on

And don't furget while we're all on lockdown, we The B Team have got your six and can entertain mew fur weeks; there are oodles of colouring pages to download and not furgetting the colouring books too.  There's a page full of crafting projects to keep your mittens making stuff!

There are some epically exciting adventure stories too, so read our thrilling tales episode by epic episode.

We've got some new Brain Training posts, just to keep your little grey cells in tip-top condition. And we’ll be adding extra jigsaw puzzles to the puzzle page.

If mew want to see more of what's been happening at BBHQ since the lockdown began, check out our Instagram feed where mew can see our daily diary and exclusive videos that we don't put here on the blog.

  1. OH OH OH! I've been re-listening to the audiobooks in the entire Harry Dresden Wizard series...am currently on book #13 Ghost Story! A new book comes out in July, and rumour is that another one is due in September! Weee!!!
My sister, who used to work in a library, calls this type of book 'horror', but I don't think of it like that at ALL! It's like the old TV show "The X-Files"; monsters and good guys. Takes place in modern-day Chicago.
There is another series that is very similar, but based in London, by author Ben Aaronovitch, The Rivers of London series. Great stuff there too!

  10. On some really hot days a pool would be lovely...but the maintenance seems daunting to us...

up, walk away and do not let the disagreement turn into something nasty...

Not sure I would enjoy a book with wizards...somehow I don't care for that kind of thing...but I know some peeps enjoy that kind of fantasy....sorry I am disagreeing with you,MOL, MOL!!! Nothing personal! Bye!!
