Mew know, we've been writing The Basilverse for over 14 years, serialising 10 B Team adventure stories including Amber's Dear Prudence Saga.

There's a new one being written now that is hilarious, and hopefully we can start to share it in August. The P.A. just needs to get a couple more chapters written, so she's not under pressure to write a chapter a week like she usually does; she can get a few done ahead of the launch, and then we can start serialising again.

✨ This Week’s Intro ~ 67% Moonlit Mischief, 22% Festival Overrun, 11% “They’ve Done WHAT Now?” Energy ✨

Hello again, my wonderfully pawesome and gloriously adventurous library guests,

The Mewton‑Clawson Library is currently experiencing what experts might call Extended Mouse Absence Syndrome aka E.M.AS. The faint squeak of suitcase wheels has long faded, the Calmness Tracker pens glow in a serene aqua, and the fax machine is blinking with the weary determination of a device that knows its updates will be… unconventional.

Because yes, the mice were supposed to return from the Festival of Cheddar on Monday. They did not! MOL MOL (#Iknewthiswouldhappen!!!)

Instead, in true L.M.C. fashion, they have flung themselves head‑first into Mousecapade Under the Moonlight, a twilight extravaganza of glowsticks, mousmosas, enchanted harps, glitter‑dipped paws, and hedgehog‑safe hedge mazes. The flyer they faxed over is still sparkling. I suspect Flora added glitter to the paper before sending it.

Hootbert has declared this “predictable.” Melvyn has declared it “chaotic.” The thesaurus has declared it “moonlit mayhem.” And honestly? They’re all correct.

So here we are, the library calm, the mice moonlit, and the fax machine bracing for whatever midnight communique arrives next.

The Cheese Era hasn’t ended. It’s simply expanded... again… and acquired glowsticks.

Melvyn: “Aqua? That’s the colour of ‘extended absence with mild concern.’ We’ve entered E.M.A.S. territory.”

Amber: “Extended Mouse Absence Syndrome. I knew it. The fax machine’s blinking like it’s waiting for a midnight communique.”

Melvyn: “It’s been doing that all morning. I told it to relax. It printed ‘STAY CHEESY AND CARRY ON.’”

Amber: “That’s oddly motivational.”

Melvyn: “It’s trying its best. Hootbert’s taken command again; he’s perched above the Tomes of Cheddar, glaring at the travel section.”

Amber: “He said it’s ‘predictable.’”

Melvyn: “He’s right. The mice were supposed to come home Monday, and instead they’ve gone to Mousecapade Under the Moonlight.”

Amber: “Glowsticks, mousmosas, enchanted harps… I saw the flyer. It sparkles.”

Melvyn: “Flora definitely added glitter before faxing it. I found sparkles in the paper tray.”

Amber: “The thesaurus whispered ‘moonlit mayhem’ earlier.”

Melvyn: “It’s jealous. It wanted to go and recite synonyms for ‘radiant.’”

Amber: “Do mew think they’re behaving?”

Melvyn: “Define ‘behaving.’ Velvet’s probably organising the parade. Oswald’s giving speeches. Lumie’s cataloguing mousmosa flavours. Flora’s painting pawprints. Nibbles is smuggling snacks. Chedds is asleep in a glamping tent.”

Amber: “So… normal.”

Melvyn: “Purrfectly normal.”

Amber: “Meanwhile, the library’s calm. Suspiciously calm.”

Melvyn: “The kind of calm that hums with distant disco cheese energy.”

Amber: “I think we should recalibrate the Calmness Tracker.”

Melvyn: “Already done. It’s reading ‘Ambient Chaos: Low. Awaiting Festival Updates.’”

Amber: “They refuse to elaborate, don’t they?”

Melvyn: “They say it’s classified.”

Amber: “We respect their aqua‑lit mystique.”

Melvyn: “Indeed. Now, tea?”

Amber: “Lavender catnip, please.”

Melvyn: “And a catnip muffin with chocolate chips?”

Amber: “Melvyn… mew read my mind.”

Melvyn: “I’ve had practice. It’s what happens when the mice go moonlit.”

🧳 General Library Status Update ~ Moonlight‑Edition Quiet Mode

The library has slipped into that soft, shimmering hush that only occurs when the L.M.C. have extended their holiday again. The bunting hangs in peaceful stillness, the Calmness Tracker pens glow a cool aqua, the official shade of “they’re still gone… and probably have glowsticks.”

The fax machine has produced a single, weary communique:

“Mousecapade Attendance Confirmed. Midnight Monitoring Initiated.”

Hootbert has accepted this with grave authority and is now patrolling the shelves like a feathery moonlit sentinel. The thesaurus is muttering “whimsy… revelry… nocturnal nonsense.” And the library?

It’s calm. Moon‑calm. Calm with the quiet confidence of a place that knows the library mice will return in a blaze of glitter, crumbs, and questionable decisions.

🎉 Calmness Tracker 3000 Update ~ Moonlight Standby

Today’s fax reads:

“Recalibration at 78%. Ambient Chaos: Low‑to‑Lunar. Awaiting Moonlight Dispatches.”

They refuse to elaborate. They insist it’s “classified.” We respect their aqua‑lit mystique.

Now, with the mice fully immersed in glowstick‑powered revelry, it’s time to pad softly toward this week’s review, whiskers relaxed, tails steady, and hearts ready for whatever moonlit mischief arrives next.

1. Chocolate cake is my favourite kind of cake. However, I am quite partial to this cheesecake on occasion... It's delicious, and I highly recommend it! LOL

2. The best part of my week was _____________. Not much, to be honest... My mother and I went to look at a local nursing home for my dad, as he's now pretty much in a wheelchair most of the time and can barely walk, and it's getting impossible to care for him at home as my parents' home is not geared for anything wheelchair-related. He's done so well up to now, tremendously well given what he's dealing with. The only good news is that the nursing home is lovely, truly lovely, and it's a 5-minute drive from BBHQ.

3. I don't mind being in a room full of strangers. But not for too long! LOL

4. If I opened a restaurant, it would be called Delicious Bites and would serve healthy organic food cooked from my kitchen garden.

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, and thank mew so much for dropping by. Pull up a chair, get comfortable, and let’s dive into what’s been happening at BBHQ over the last few days.

Firstly, we have to apologise for not doing our usual commenting and blog-hopping over the weekend, as we normally do on a Caturday and/or Sunday; there is a reason... Grampaw is not well; he has gone downhill over the last few weeks... the stress for the P.A.'s family is high. Grampaw keeps falling over too. Luckily, Cat Dad was there last Friday and got him up off the floor. Grampaw was uninjured, thank cod, but it's a tough time for all.

Please don't think we're being rude; we're not. Sometimes the P.A. just needs a break from everything and has to go hide out in the garden to decompress. But then she feels horribly guilty for not commenting and joining in the hops. Just know she's doing her best to post and will hopefully catch up on your posts this weekend.

The Weekly Weather Report

Let's tell mew about the weather this week. Well, we're not complaining; it's been hovering around mid-twenties for the last few days, so a welcome respite from the previous weeks' scorchio inferno from hell.

And allegedly we could even get rain on Caturday and Sunday, which would be rather welcome right now; the garden is in need of a big drink, so we're quite excited about that if it happens, but we're not holding our breath! MOL

This week's flowering offering is...

These snapdragons are glorious, and no doubt mew noticed the Parsley sign stuck in the back; it keeps moving around the garden. The P.A. tried to get a matching Basil one, but failed; she'll come across one at some point on one of her garden centre excursions!

Fudge and Melvyn's Afternoon Siesta

 Pandora's Flat Out in The Catservatory 


Pabdora, a long‑haired dark‑furred cat lies stretched out on her side, fast asleep amid soft patterned pillows and blankets decorated with pink and white bird and floral designs. She’s nestled on a fluffy cream rug in a warm, comfortable catservatory setting, completely relaxed during her BBHQ afternoon snooze at BBHQ.

Supurr floofy Pandora got snuggled in the catservatory; she was zonked out on the sofa. And yes, before mew ask, she does get brushed most days in the summer, but this was a pre-brush pic! MOL

It took her a long time to accept being groomed, but now she loves it and has the choice of around six different types of brushes. Her favourite is the one upstairs, the pink angel tangle teaser; that one is also Parsley and Melvyn's favourite too.

And most evenings before bed, there's a queue for pre-bed brushing! MOL

Catastic Cats won the voting last week!!!
