This week, it was Smoochie's turn to gripe, mew know that eclipse thing that happened on Monday, of course mew do. Well Smooch got in his Observatory at precisely 7.30 PM GMT to watch the once in a lifetime event...
Fudge went to see what was happening.
"Smooch," said Fudge. "What's this eclipse thing?"
"Well," Smooch replied. "Mew see that big yellow sparkly ball hanging at the top of the Observatory?"
Fudge nodded.
"Appurrently in a few minutes, the moon is going to block that big yellow sparkly ball out as it passes it front of it!" Smooch explained.
"WOW!" Fudge breathed in awe. "And we get front row seats?"
"Indeedy we do!" Smooch grinned.
"Smooch," said Fudge. "What's this eclipse thing?"
"Well," Smooch replied. "Mew see that big yellow sparkly ball hanging at the top of the Observatory?"

They waited and waited and waited and they waited some more...
Finally Smooch said to the P.A. "Did mew know the universe is broken?"
The P.A. looked at him and replied. "What do you mean the universe is broken?"
"Well," Smooch said and pointed up at the glittering sun and the little moon. "The moon didn't eclipse it, so it's obvious that the universe is broken!"
Finally Smooch said to the P.A. "Did mew know the universe is broken?"

Trying not the laugh the P.A. said, "Smooch the eclipse is happening outside, not in your Observatory dude!"
"Don't worry little dude," the P.A. said gently. "You wouldn't have been able to see from here anyway, but I can show you this!"
The room went furry quiet and then Smooch screamed,
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
We have no wurds fur that! MOL

Just an FYI... we have 2 indoor kitties. Opened a new bag of cat food 2 weeks ago (Authority, manufactured for PetSmart). Within days, both cats were extremely ill. Not eating, vomiting constantly, cat box was basically empty... We threw away the balance of the cat food and got them started on a different brand.
ReplyDeleteThe vet said lab results were basically normal and gave antinausea meds and fluids. We truly though we would love the older (10 year old) cat. Finally after about a week, both have fully recovered.
Several years ago there was news coverage about some cat foods produced in China which contained plastic, resulting in a number of fatalities. I don't know if this was something similar, but be alert if you notice dramatic changes after opening a new bag of kibble.

DeleteYour observatory is pawsome! I'm sorry that you missed the big eclipse, but if it makes you feel any better, Manna and Dexter weren't all that impressed with it. They slept through it. My pet peeve of the week? I'm still struggling through depression and it has taken quite a toll on me. I really want to be able to achieve some goals.

DeleteWe were able to see the total eclipse (Mom Paula saw it - we stayed inside).

DeleteWell, all the hoomins around here enjoyed the 80% totality and tried to get some coolio photos of the thing without burning our eyes out of our heads. Since cats are from outer space, the hoomins know that our solar eclipse means little, since you've all seen much niftier stuff out there in the ether!

Hi Athena & Marie, yep it was crappy that us in the UK have a blanket of cloud, so we could even see a partial eclipse! XOX
DeleteI watched from the garden wearing a welding mask. I didn't know if anything would be visible in the UK but saw a little nibble taken out of the bottom of the sun. We were in the path of totality in 1999, and being on high open land got a very good view. I remember thinking it was slightly spooky to see the darkness rolling towards us from Cornwall. Spookier still when the pheasants started shouting then everything fell silent as the deep dusk arrived.

DeleteWe got about 71 percent here, and it was pretty cool to see. Actually, the really enjoyable part was seeing so many humans gathering in parks and plazas in New York City (where I work) in the middle of the day to watch. It was like a big, festival gathering. :)

DeleteI got 100% here well I thought I did until I realised my eyelid had shut. As to pet peeves, mine is the peep obscuring my sun puddles with the tummy first thing in the morning.

DeleteI didn't get to see it either...and the petcretary had to deal with a lot of clouds...though she could make put a bite in the roundness with her pinhole 'camera'.
