Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today and happy Friyay to mew all.

It's been a bit quiet at BBHQ this week, we're all suffering from the January Flats, and if mew don't know what the January Flats are, let me explain.

It is a little like the January Blues; although we're not depressed, we are feeling somewhat flat, moderately bored, severely apathetic and excessively tired.

We find the endless tiredness the biggest hurdle, everypawdy starts yawning around 5pm and wants to know, is it time for bed yet?

But we have to soldier on until 11pm otherwise we'll be awake a 2 am, and then what do we do until breakfast time? MOL

Smooch, Melvyn and I had an emergency meeting about it the other day.

Though as mew can see, Melvyn was worn out from modelling and was taking five! MOL

Anyhoo, we decided that we needed more sunshine in our lives as we are obviously lacking in Vitamin D and natural daylight right now, so we put on youtube and began watching travel vlogs from sunnier climes. And it really perked us up no end!

Wolves and Warnings

Charmed and Dangerous Book 2

by

Morgan Vale

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

When a big-city investigator visits Haven looking for a werewolf, Kat wonders if her grandma’s crazy visions are right after all. Things only get worse when a suspicious attack leaves the town reeling and the investigator dead. Too bad the police don’t believe in werewolves.

An open-and-shut case turns into so much more when the murderer strikes again — this time much closer to home. But the more she digs, the more things lead back to the very people she swore to protect.

Is the hunky mechanic hiding something? And does it have to do with a secret society bent on rooting out non-magical villagers in Haven? In this town, everyone has something to hide.

This is the second novel in the Charmed and Dangerous book series. I reviewed book one, Potions and Predicaments back in December, so if mew missed that click here to catch up. Also, this is from Kindle Unlimited, so if mew have an account mew can read this one for free.

Book two pretty much kicks off straight after book one finishes, so there's no time lag in the story. Our witchy lead Kat and her familiar Albus are back, hoping that things are calming down in the little town of Haven. Although a new problem occurs when Kat meets a PEA agent - Paranormal Enforcement Agency - and is alerted to werewolves in the area.

Kat accidentally stumbles upon a fresh murder scene, and off we go again.

The story rattles along nicely. There is still a smidge of romance, although very clean as Kat and Chance ballet dance around their feelings for each other. A slew new of characters are introduced, adding to the overall development of the story.

There are still the familiar faces from the last book which pop in and out, and we get to see how their individual characters develop as the story progresses.

All in all a fab sequel which has a nice twisty plot, with lots of paranormal elements and I will be reviewing book three as soon as I've finished it.

In my humble opinion, a really promising paranormal cozy mystery series.

It's time fur me to say BFN or bye-fur-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

  2. Really? You've never had a song or jingle get caught in your brain and it keeps replaying over and over?
When I was having bouts of insomnia, this would happen to me.
Then, I discovered that if I thought of another song, I could kick out the earworm and fall asleep.
