Hello meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and mew may remember last week, that I went outdoors under the gazebo very briefly? Well, hold onto your tails, as just look at this...

Yes, I was out there again, and supurr early in the morning too! MOL

But, seriously I was just doing my job as the P.A. was just about to start trimming the small hedges to my left in the photo, and she needed my paw print of approval before doing so. And then I made her pressure wash the patio, because it's a little green and grotty after the winter, and I don't want to get my fur on that dirty mess.

Anyhoo the patio looks much better, but since it's been done it's been too hot for me to go outside. Saying that I did venture out again early yesterday morning for about two minutes at 6.30 am, when it was cloudy and cool. I just did a quick lap of the gazebo and then returned to my sofa with next week's book.

I think that's enough adventuring for me for a while! MOL

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. _____________________ is something that boggles my mind.
2. I hope to __________________ this summer.
3. I could really use some recommendations for _________.
4. _________ wasn’t my best idea.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. Lots of things boggle my mind at this point in my life, but the main thing is it's taken me 4 years to start feeling normal after my ceiling plunge - see #4 - that is something that REALLY boggles my mind.

2. I hope to finish all the outdoor painting I started last summer this summer. So far I've painted the craft room/library windows (four of them). I've got two large shed doors, and the wine pump, yep not looking forward to the latter! LOL Plus there are the new raised beds, the door leading to the new garden and the upstairs windows which Cat Dad is doing. Plus I'm sure there'll be something else. I keep asking myself, why do I keep creating more work?! LOL

3. I could really use some recommendations for Amber's new book review season starting in September. She's going on her summer break after her 250th review on the 7th of July.

4. Falling through the ceiling wasn’t my best idea. Well, it wasn't on purpose! LOL

Please Do Feed the Cat: A Mystery

The Brimful Coffers Mysteries

by

Marian Babson

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

A decomposing body...a severed head in a closet...a macabre meeting with "Mother" - mystery writer Lorinda Lucas tosses yet another paperback in the trash, appalled at the gruesome direction of today's crime fiction. She's even more disturbed at the half-starved state of Roscoe, the cat next door. Before Lorinda left for her latest book tour, Roscoe was as plump and pampered as her own two felines, Had-I and But-Known.

It only takes a modicum of sleuthing to find out that in Lorinda's absence Roscoe's owner, Macho Magee, has acquired a new girlfriend - a harridan who has put the gentle Macho and his pet on a strict diet.

Earlier this week I got lost in the narration of Please Do Feed The Cat, written by the incredibly talented Marian Babson. This mystery novel is an absolute delight and kept me hooked from beginning to end.

The story revolves around a charming group of characters who are all crime and/or mystery writers living in a quaint village in England. They each have their own unique quirks and share a love for cats. What I loved about this book is that the cats are not just there for show, they are essential to the plot and have their own personalities that shine through the pages. What makes this book stand out is the way everything comes together so perfectly with a neat little bow.

The story is filled with subplots that blend seamlessly together to create an intriguing and unpredictable tale. The pacing of the book is spot-on, with twists and turns that keep mew engaged without feeling rushed. The character development is also significant, as each character is distinct and brings depth to the story.

All in all, Please Do Feed The Cat is a must-read for anyone who loves cats or a good cozy murder mystery. The author has created a captivating world full of interesting characters and a story that will keep mew invested until the very end. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an enjoyable and engaging read. Another top paw read or listen purrfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon in the garden.

This is book two in a two-book series, and the audio version is available to listen to for free on Audible if mew have a membership. I'm off to get book one now, as I enjoyed it so much!

Happy reading to mew all!

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't forget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

  1. Dear Amber, i too went outside now i have the fence up. luv it sometimes. and yer mum's patio garden, well it looks more dignified than Lynn's plastic pots. Yer mum fell off a ceiling! I only see bugs up on our ceiling. What the furry heck was she doin', painting. Lynn quit wavin' paint brushes around a few years ago. Precious

  2. Amber, an excellent job of snoovervising in the coolest part of the day.
As for book recommendations, do you want current books, or will some old-timey ones be worthwhile?

  3. That sounds a great book with cats playing a big part in it. Early morning is the best time of day to go out for a bit of fresh air, Amber.

  7. I'm glad your snoopervisory duties outdoors are done for now, it's time to stay in the A/C, at least it is here.

Falls can't always be avoided but heaven knows we try.
