It's been rather rainy the last few days at BBHQ, and overnight there must have been a bit of a deluge as the Mewton-Clawson Main Street was flooded. A few years ago the council spent months and months digging up the main street to counteract this issue by adding new bigger pipes and the like. And it must have cost a small fortune, yet here we are, and some parts of the main street need waders to cross. So that was a waste of time and resources, but so it goes, at least they tried.
Anyhoo, last week we mentioned that the swallows were still here and that we still hadn't cropped the catnip. We think the swallows have now departed, as we haven't seen them since Sunday, but we'll wait a few more days, just in case they are still bipping about.
And just before we dive into this week's top news, take a look at this dahlia, the colour is just exquisite; a shade of violet-mauve. In fact, I don't think we've ever seen this shade of dahlia before, it was a new one for BBHQ this year.
Isn't it furbulous?
Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.
First up in the news this week
Smooch Got A Tick
The P.A. noticed that Smooch was walking strangely on his back leg on Friday night, though she couldn't see anything that could be visibly causing it, and then Cat Dad noticed it on Sunday.
Some filthy, little bloodsucking tick was in his fur on the back leg. It had been really gorging itself and had grown that much that it was now visible among the fur. YUCK!
Luckily, we have a tick-removing tool, so the P.A. got Smooch upside down, while Cat Dad twisted that bloodsucking fiend off him. Though poor Smooch did cry out as it was removed. And then that bloodsucker was despatched by fire into the netherworld.
Anyhoo, they cleaned and disinfected the area and are now bathing it daily to make sure there's no infection at the wound site.
And yes, we are aware of Lymes disease and other complications, so will be extra vigilant in the coming days.
Next up in the news
Parsley's On Pawtrol
So as Smooch is out of action as far as the regular BBHQ pawtrols go, Parlsey is taking over his shifts, and here he is taking his job supurr seriously!
He's a panfur on a one-cat mission, don't mess with The Sauce! MOL
Finally this week
Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick
He was a bit slow to start this week, as the weather has gone cold, and he was snoozing in his glamping tent, but once he got warmed up, he clawed it!
Which one should he model next?
We'll be sharing the brand new October Collection next week, and Melvyn will model the last of this month's pawesome collection.
I am very pleased you were not swept away.
ReplyDeleteThat dahlia is amazing! Smooch, we are very sorry to hear about that nasty tick. We hope you are all better real soon. Nice job patrolling, Parsley! And hooray, Melvyn ... you're finally wearing that bear bandana. :)
ReplyDeleteMy comment just got eaten. Argghhh!
ReplyDeletePretty Dahlia. Sorry for the yucky tick, Smooch. We just know the next bandana will be the teal stars. Parsley!! You sure are handsome!
I am on a borrowed computer, mine is in the computer sick bay for several days...sigh...
Dear Melvyn, pullease wear the teal stars. You know how I feel about turquoise colors. And so sorry about Smooch and the tick. If not a deer tick, maybe no concern fur the vicious Lyme. Lynn is complainin' 'bout no rain. Now we see why, as you all got it all. Lynn purrfurs the spider web to the wide world of web. Precious
ReplyDeleteGlad you got that tick off Smooch.
ReplyDeleteI know I'll get the pick right this week. The teal stars have to be next weeks bandana.

Smooch how awful. Mom here said she has only seen one gorged huge like that...and she herself was a little girl. Her brother pulled it off the dog. Mom hates ticks with a passion. I say Melvyn, model the teal stars.
ReplyDeleteLove all the pictures including the spidey-web. Cool 😎 ! Yuck on the tick, I've pulled quite a few off cats with a flea comb. Looking forward to seeing Melvyn rock those teal stars!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Dahlia. Poor Smooch, ticks are awful. My hubby brought one in on his clothes and it was on Penny. I thought she had a tumor so I was actually glad it was a tick. Looking good Smooch and good job patrolling Parsley. XO
ReplyDeleteThat's awful about the street flooding and it sounds typical of what we deal with her too. The gang looks wonderful and I'm so glad you got rid of that evil tick. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteSending POTP that Smooch suffers no ill effects from his encounter with the tick !
ReplyDeleteGlad you got that evil little blood sucker off Smooch. We have had floods here too, and at long last SWW has said they are going to lift the hosepipe ban! The dahlia is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove looking at all your photos and videos. Amazing spiders web and the size and colour of the dahlia is stunning. Smooch glad your human got rid of tick we don't like them either. We're on part 3 of you pirates purrfect Sunday afternoon to have a read. Hugs and purrs.mom & Spike.❤️
