Supurr Tuesday greetings beautiful furiends

Many apologies for missing Monday, mew know how much we love starting the week with mew all, anyhoo remember that we got the computer hard drive and RAM upgraded a couple of weeks ago, and everything was running epically epic? Well, we had a little technical failure on Caturday, no not the computer, the monitors decided to go on the fritz and stop working. OH DEAR!  So we had to get new monitors, which spoiled our mood tremendously as mew can imagine, and we couldn't get the same ones as they're 10+ years old and Philips don't make that model anymore. The good news is we're back up and running, and the bad news is, we weren't impressed at having to purchase new monitors, but so it goes, and we did have the others for a very long time.

Let's get started on our crystal journey today, and we've got a lovely gemstone to share as Pippa asked us; what is black tourmaline good for?

Crystal of The Week

Black Tourmaline Properties

Tourmaline comes in a variety of colours; blue, pink, yellow, brown, watermelon green/pink, red, bluey-green and black.

Its natural composition is made up of long striations and it has a hexagonal structure, see pic below. It's a very tactile stone, and they can be polished aka shiny, they can be opaque and some can even be translucent.

At BBHQ we have some smaller polished tumblestones, and the P.A. keeps quite a large chunk on her bedside table, by large chunk we mean about 3-4" long by 2" wide or 7.6-10.16 cm x 5.08 cm.

Fudge really liked the new piece of tourmaline, which we showed last week - see link below.

Here's a little about the gem lore for black tourmaline: It's reported to be an excellent cleanser of negativity, and apparently it is a highly protective stone and can form a protective aura or shield around the body. It is also purported to be an excellent purifier and is able to dissipate heavy and murky energies, transmuting them into lighter and higher vibrations.

A great stone for clearing/cleansing the aura, removing negative energy and assisting in dispelling any blockages, and if mew read about the shungite and orgonite, black tourmaline is also very good for protection against EMF's and electromagnetic smog in and around the home, and will assist with protection against the harmful radiation emitted by electronic devices.

It can be used on the root or base chakra for crystal healing, as it is a superb stone for grounding, so if mew feel a little airy-fairy, this could be one to try.

Black tourmaline is also reputed to alleviate stress, tension and promote more confidence and feelings of positivity, creating a more rational attitude and assists with creativity.

There's oodles more info on this gorgeous crystal, just google it to find the full list of properties.

There are some lovely jewellery pieces available, so if mew feel drawn to this is crystal mew can wear it close to your body for the full effect. The P.A. has a lovely pendant which she wears, especially if she's going to busy places, as she always comes back feeling drained and tired when near lots of people, she has found that when wearing the tourmaline, it lessens the tiredness/exhaustion.

Many thanks for DMing us Pippa, and we hope that answered your question.

  1. We do like that Tourmaline and actually have some of it so we found it interesting. Sorry about the monitor problems but at least it was only a temporary show stopper.

  4. The crystals are lovely. I am sorry the monitors packed up. I think mine may do the same before too long. It is also a Phillips about 9-10 years old. Every now and then it gets a sort of lightning flash across it. I should replace it before it does go. One thing is for sure, when I do replace it the *#$^ bluetooth keyboard is being replaced at the same time. I can type a 50 letter sentence and when I look there are 7 or 8 letters there. If it doesn't do that it will add random extra letters. It goes perfectly after I get mad and bang it on the floor a few times.

  5. Glad you got your monitor troubles fixed...now you'll be good for at least another twn years!! LOL!

Tourmaline is very beautiful! We have so many gadgets here, we need to invest in some of those EMF absorbing ones. Like one by every 'station' and on our nightstands, too. Though mostly petcretary leaves her tech things out of the bedroom.

Your mandala reminds me of a peacock feather!
