Furbulous Greetings Supurr Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, furry floofers, and welcome to this week's hot gossip. Firstly, let's give mew the weather report. It cooled down somewhat from the scorching 33 degrees Celsius a week ago, on Monday, the 3rd of July, and we were quite happy about that, as it had been way too warm. So, we've had mid-twenties, and on Monday, it got down to just 20 degrees. It felt cold, as the wind was blowing a bit wildly. Sunday, it rained on and off for most of the day, so the parched garden and trees really enjoyed that.

And talking of rain, or the lack thereof, the poor garden is parched, the flowers are wilting, and the trees are even shedding leaves. Yep, it's a bit hardcore, as normally English summers are a total washout; we get a couple of nice weeks and then it just rains, but this year is the total opposite. We think it's because of the moon being out of phase, and speaking of which, we haven't seen it recently! Have mew?

So here's this week's flower picture, the only one worth showing is the supurr happy daisies, as they're not wilting! MOL

A cheerful cluster of white-petaled daisies with golden yellow centers in full bloom at the BBHQ garden. Set against lush green foliage and bathed in bright sunlight, the daisies radiate natural joy and seasonal warmth. Aren't they pretty?

Additionally, we've noticed a significant increase in butterflies over the last week or so, along with more bees, which is truly lovely.

And the hedgehogs are still visiting every night for snacks. So far, after awakening from their winter hibernation, they've eaten nearly 20KG of kibble! MOL

Here's one of the little snack hogs, or as we call him/her, Fuzzle, at the watering hole!

Fuzzle the Hedgehog drinks from a shallow water dish on a sun-dappled stone patio at BBHQ. Surrounded by green plants and a terracotta pot, this serene garden scene captures a charming moment of hedgehog wildlife care. Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

First up in the news this week

Smooch on Morning Garden Pawtrol

Smooch, a tuxedo tripawed cat from BBHQ, strides confidently across a gravel path during his garden patrol. The lush green trees and manicured bushes form a tranquil backdrop, highlighting his vigilant stance and natural feline grace. Captured in motion, this image embodies summer garden serenity and feline lifestyle charm—ideal for cat photography, pet content, and seasonal blog visuals. at www.bionicbasil.com

Smooch enjoyed a nice morning pawtrol yesterday, the wind had eased up and it was really rather clement.

As he happily approached the gazebo, Fudge asked him, how his recently vacuumed basket was going?

We can't repeat Smooch's reply! MOL

Pandora's Stealth Operation

Pandora, a long-haired feline from BBHQ, crouches low on a pebbled garden path surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant purple flowers. Operation: Catch The Really Humungous Pigeon!

The other day, Pandora was on a mission as there's a pigeon the size of a small pterodactyl at BBHQ, and quite frankly, she just doesn't like it!

A green houseplant peeks into view, adding natural charm to the tranquil setting. This cozy feline nap moment captures BBHQ’s laid-back summer vibes and lifestyle branding.

Parsley was flat out and totally zonked by the window late last week, and he was really enjoying those summer wiffles! MOL

Finally this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

This week, Melvyn is modelling the Catastic Cats bandana, as voted for by mew last week.

Melvyn, a sleek cat from BBHQ, poses confidently on a kitchen counter wearing a vibrant Catastic Cats bandana. The colourful accessory features playful cat illustrations, adding a whimsical touch to the modern kitchen setting with stainless steel appliances and a mosaic tile backsplash. This image showcases feline fashion flair and stylish pet accessories in a home lifestyle context. At www.bionicbasil.com

He's looking epic as always!

Now this is the really strange thing. We thought Melvyn had modelled everything from his bandana collection at least once, if not twice; however, this one, we can find no record of it ever being worn before, unless in the computer fritz that happened the other week, it's accidentally got deleted???

Melvyn, the tabby and white feline fashionista and super model from BBHQ, lounges beside his extensive collection of colourful bandanas laid out on a woven rug. The display features rows of vibrant prints including florals, geometrics, and seasonal themes, showcasing Melvyn’s unique style persona. This image highlights pet fashion creativity and lifestyle branding through curated accessories and playful presentation.

It's on the far right, sixth row up from the bottom... We were sure he had worn it before, as we wanted to share the videos if he had!

And here's a quick, W.D.G. update: the invisible BBHQ monster, who did live behind the sofa, has now moved out into the shed. Don't ask us why, although there was a note that said, he's sulking because he didn't get invited to Melvyn's pawty last Friday. We left another note in reply, saying:

'Dude, we thought mew were there, even though we couldn't see mew!'

Melvyn is currently preparing a gift basket to help smooth the situation.

Which one should he model next?

Here's the July Bandana collection, and we chose another really fun selection for mew this time. And we've decided to give mew six to choose from, even though we only needed five, OH MY COD, the utter excitement of it all! MOL

The July 2025 Bandana Collection for Melvyn the cat, featuring six colorful and themed pet bandanas displayed in a grid. Designs include: yellow popcorn and movie print, blue cat-mermaid pattern, multicolored artistic cat faces, tropical parrots on black, pink butterflies on beige, and cactus pots on white. Readers will vote weekly for Melvyn to model each bandana throughout the month on www.bionicbasil.com

  2. Great news that it's cooled off a bit there. We hope you get some rain to help out the garden. In the meantime, we love that you were able to get outside there at BBHQ, Pandora and Smooch. Snooze on, Parsley.

  3. Does Pandora not like the huge pigeon or is she hoping for wowser of a snack?

Melvyn, I really like the way you model this bandana although I'm still hoping for In the Jungle one of these weeks.

Yes, I did see the moon today, during the day, and it's very close to full.

  4. It has cooled down here as well, but getting seriously hotter again from tomorrow. I have had to take up my poor Mesembryanthemums because I think they wore themselves out keep opening in the sun. They flowered all together and have no more buds coming, and are limp and sad looking.
I usually see the moon when I go to bed. It is still not where I consider it should be at that time of night. At least it is not as far north as it was, but more to the west, but still too low in the sky. We live fairly high up and have a clear view down over Cornwall. If we lived at a lower level I probably wouldn't know the moon was there!
You have very hungry hedgehogs! Everyone is looking good. I vote for jungle as it is very colourful.

  8. I vote for in the Jungle bandana. OMCs I just started a new book title: Moon Signs. It is about retired teachers (sisters). They are really into the Moon and meanings and are amateur sleuths.
