Hello fellow book-loving library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and the weather has turned cooler this week at BBHQ. So much so that I requested a fresh blanket and that the P.A. make me a supurr toasty fire in the sitting room! MOL

So we had the first fire of the autumn as it was feeling quite damp, and the house is so much cooler at the moment. Having thick walls in the summer is great as it keeps the house cool, but in the winter it makes the house even colder, in fact, some days it can be warmer outside! MOL

Anyhoo, I hope mew've all had an ameowzing week and are looking forward to the weekend.

I took delivery of my new kindle on Friday and have already read two new cozy mysteries, Halloween themed ready for the end of the month. And I must say the new paperwhite kindle is much easier to read than my previous model from 2011; I will try it outside on the next sunny day to let mew know how it is in a bright outdoor situation.

More on the new kindle next week, and I'll share some extra books that I've discovered on offer via Audible and Amazon.

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.

3. To me, _________ is one of the scariest things in the world.
4. Believe it or not, _________ doesn’t scare me.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. Living with 6 cats keeps me on my toes. All those little purrsonalties, each with their own demands and requests are enough to keep anyone on the toes! LOL

2. I know it’s going to be a bad day when I'm just not feeling the vibe for anything! LOL

3. To me, losing any of The B Team is one of the scariest things in the world.

4. Believe it or not, _________ doesn’t scare me. I don't really know what to say for this, I don't really think about non-scary stuff! LOL

Cursed Claws

A Nine Lives Magic Mystery Book #3

by
Danielle Garrett

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Tracking down Aunt Lavender’s kidnapper is proving to be more difficult than running through a swimming pool filled with peanut butter. Every lead we uncover ends with more questions than answers.

We’re running out of ideas—and time, too. The mysterious Golden Lotus seems to hold the key to the investigation, but no one can tell us what it does or why Aunt Lavender might have been looking for it.

And if that wasn’t enough to keep both my cranky feline familiar and me completely occupied, we find ourselves thrust into the center of another criminal investigation—this time as the lead suspects.

Today I'm sharing book #3 in the Nine Lives Magic Mystery series, and if mew missed the reviews for books one and two, click the links below.

Cora is back with talking cat Selene, and they're still frantically searching for clues to help rescue Aunt Lavender after finding out she's been kidnapped.

Selene's cattitude doesn't improve much during this adventure, as Cora finds herself in the midst of a candle coma dilemma as she is accused of making dodgy magic candles which renders anyone who burns them in an unwakable, magical coma. Luckily for her, her new boyfriend comes to the rescue with expert legal help but her shop Wicked Wicks has to close its doors temporarily.

Can Cora with the 'un'help of Selene save her magical candle shop and uncover any more clues to find Aunt Lavender before it's too late?

As with books one and two, the story is nicely plotted and paced with enough of a roller coaster ride to keep mew turning those pages, or in my case listening until the very end!

The main characters are evolving as are their relationships, and the ancillary cast is just enough to keep things fresh without overpowering the storyline as Cora and Selene try to solve not one but two mysteries.

In my humble opinion, this is another fabulous instalment in the series and as I've said before if mew love your cozy mysteries like me, this is one for your bookshelf.

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

  3. Sometimes I'll wander downstairs from my office, to find The Hubby is nowhere to be seen!
In the summer, he'll take off on his bicycle, or he'll take off in the car without me hearing a thing.
    Always gives me the whillies.

  4. We came back from holiday earlier this week and the first thing we did was light the wood burner. That was a good review, Amber.

  6. Amber, I love this photo of you. Glad you got to warm up by the fire. Also glad you have a new Kindle to read on. The book you reviewed looks great, especially for this time of year. Thank you to the PA for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I understand that fear too and hope your crew is with you for a long, long time. XO

  7. We hope your fear of losing a kitty will go 'un-happened', for many eons.

We sometimes wish we too, had a fireplace, but alas, then we might lose our den, as its a rickety old frame house, and not very well built at that. It would go up in flames in a twinkling.

  8. I'm not sure about those candles, but Mrs H has some really potent sherry triffle that is alleged to have the same effect, MOL
