Hello gorgeous library guests
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and for my furry last review of the current season. In fact, I do feel quite sad that I won't be here every Friday to entertain mew with my ameowzing and most illustrious book picks until the autumn/fall.
And just so mew don't forget what I look like I took a special selfie today, where I actually look - not grumpy!
Also, mew may remember a couple of weeks ago when the P.A. presented me with a cute cat purrch, well it would appear that Smooch also likes the purrch! MOL
It looks like I'm going to have to have a conversation with him about purrameters, and what I'm willing to tolerate - not much! MOL
1. The grossest food I ever ate was ___________________.
2. The best tasting food I ever had was _______________.
3. I should probably _________, but I won’t.
4. If I could have an unlimited supply of one item, I would pick _________.
The P.A.'s answers are...
1. The grossest food I ever ate was, there have been a few contenders for this but I will say Haggis, with sharks fin soup coming in as a close second. BLAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! And it's quite strange as the sharks fin soup was eaten at the Jumbo Floating Restaurant in Kowloon harbour Hong Kong, everything else I ate there was delicious, the soup was like dirty, grey dishwater, not my thing. And strangely enough, I just read they towed the restaurant out to sea and it sank two days ago. Click here to read the ITN News report.
2. The best-tasting food I ever had was; now we're talking, there have been so many instances of totally awesome food, my recent top two are the Japanese restaurant we visit once a month, and I know this is going to sound rather conceited, but my Sunday lunch is pretty spectacular and my favourite meal.
3. I should probably start going out more, but I won’t. And a couple of new covid variants have popped up to torment us again, so that's that!
4. If I could have an unlimited supply of one item, I would have to say heating oil for my boiler as it's more than doubled in price in the last few months, thanks RUSSIA!
Today, as it's the last Friyay of the month, we're also joining in the furrbulous...
This is the photo Fudge didn't want mew to see; when he was on top of the summerhouse roof nomming fresh
catnip on his birthday! MOL
Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!
This week's top book pick is...
Mewton-Clawson Library Copy
by
Danielle Garrett
Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
Have you ever wished your cat could talk to you? If so, allow my story to be your cautionary tale.
My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails.
Then Selene showed up.
According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy 10-pound cat with a broken filter. She fancies herself something of a sabre-toothed tiger, and claims to have wrestled the thread of her ninth life from the hands of the Fates themselves - although, I'm pretty sure that last part isn't true.
*Witchy Whiskers is the first book in a brand new series by paranormal mystery author, Danielle Garrett. Grab your copy now and dive into a colorful world filled with magic, mystery, adventure, and a spark or two of romance.*
I can't believe I stumbled on this book last week when I was purrusing Audible. It popped up in the 'Listeners also enjoyed...' section underneath a book I was about to buy, which highlights other books which may be of interest.
Anyhoo, I saw this and went to the page, had a quick listen of the sample while I read the book blurb and thought, yep this is the one, THE ONE for my end-of-season review.
Now mew guys know how much I love the Mystic Notch series and Pandora the cat. Well, I think I've found a series to almost topple Mystic Notch off the Number One spot, if not at least rival it. I will have to indulge in all four books currently available in the series to make a full and unequivocal assessment, but early indications after listening to book one are quite high.
The number one reason is the cat, Selene talks to her human, and this is a really big deal for me, plus Selene is a cat after my own heart. She's fearless, feisty, sassy, out-spoken, has no filter on her mouth at all, she says exactly what she thinks without any thought at all, she's really fun and just how a cat should be.
The plot is nicely twisty, the characters are fun, and there's an element of comedy throughout mainly from Selene with her acerbic commentary. The setting of a magical town is also a fun twist, though the book is not what I would call overtly paranormal so don't be put off if the paranormal genre isn't your thing.
When I say this new series is totally top paw, it is, and I'm already on book two.

This week's top audio freebies on Audible.
Mew know I spend a lot of time purrusing various book sites looking for my next best read to share with mew, and sometimes I stumble upon freebie listens for audible members which I think mew may like.
This week's top picks are:
A Haunted Library Mystery - Books Two & Three
by
Allison Brook
These are free to audible members for a limited time.
And mew may remember that I did review book one in September last year.
I will be reviewing both of the freebies when I start back in the autumn/fall.
I really hope mew enjoy today's book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.
Sadly, it's time fur me to say BFN or bye-fur-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back before mew know it after my Summer Jolly's with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page, it will be fully updated early next week.
Until I return, have an epically epic summer and...
Keep calm and read more books
