Pawesome Sunday greetings furiends
HAPPY OCTOBER AND WELCOME TO THE SPOOKY SEASON!
This week we decided to visit another ancient stone circle as we had so much fun last week.
And after much deliberation, we decided to head southwest to the meautiful Cotswolds district.
The B Team's Rollright Stones Selfie
What a place, it was furbulous, but we will let Smooch give mew all the details, as only he can!
Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:
As we took a leisurely walk through the serene and picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds, we were struck with a profound sense of awe and reverence as we approached the enigmatic and ancient Rollright Stones. These impressive megalithic monuments, situated near the border of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, have been a source of intrigue, mystery, and wonder for thousands of years.
According to historians and archaeologists, the Rollright Stones were erected during the Neolithic period, around 2500 BCE, although some specific stones are thought to be even older. Despite extensive research and study, the exact purpose of these stones remains a subject of debate and speculation. Many experts believe that they may have been used for religious or ceremonial purposes, while others contend that they may have been utilized as an astronomical observatory since they are aligned with the movement of the sun and stars.
Regardless of their original purpose, the Rollright Stones are regarded as one of the most significant and pawe-inspiring prehistoric sites in England. Visitors can explore the three main stone formations – the King's Men, the Whispering Knights, and the King Stone – and marvel at the intricate carvings and engravings that adorn them. These stones have withstood the test of time and have a commanding presence that is both humbling and inspiring.
In addition to the Rollright Stones, the surrounding area is rich with other historical landmarks and attractions that are worth exploring. The charming village of Long Compton boasts a plethora of medieval buildings and churches, while the bustling market town of Chipping Norton has a fascinating history that dates back to the Roman era.
All in all, the Rollright Stones are a truly captivating and enigmatic destination that is sure to leave visitors spellbound. Whether mew are a history enthusiast or simply seeking to immerse yourself in the stunning natural beauty of the Cotswolds, this ancient and mysterious monument is not to be missed. We had a great day out!
And just before we pop off, mew know we visited Hadrian's Wall a few weeks ago, well some utter pork chop went and cut down a 300-year-old sycamore tree! Yep, they scrambled over hill and dale with chainsaws and slaughtered one of the most famous trees in the UK.
Seriously, what is wrong with people? If this is what modern folk do for kicks, sadly the world is doomed!
Until next week, purrs

We're also joining in Athena's Fabulous Art Hop so do stop by and show off your pawesome arty-farty skills.
We tried Prisma first this week, but sadly it kept crashing, so evidently our pawesome pic was too much for it, or it was the energy from the stone circle! MOL
The effect was created with Befunky - AI Enhancer, Oil painting 2 + changes to fill light.
We also turned this fab arty-farty picture into a puzzle, so do stop by the puzzle page and take the Puzzle Challenge, see if mew can beat our time of 8 mins 58 secs.
We're off to snoopervise in the garden, as this week the P.A. had had no time due to a report she's been writing, but hopefully, it'll be finished sometime this week, and life can return to normal. Well, normal for us, which is purrobably not furry normal at all! MOL
Smooch is waiting by the oven, he's even got a stopwatch now, so the P.A. has no excuses for cooking a late lunch. So cod help the P.A. if it's late today. And this afternoon could be the day that the catnip finally gets cropped, but we'll let mew for sure on Wednesday in the news round-up.
Check out the latest episodes of our Pirate Tails Rerun
Do join us again tomorrow, when we're back with another episode of Cats Have Problems Too, and check out this week's Despurrate Dilemma.
We do hope mew have an epic day, and remember to always...

Does Stonehenge make a good cat tree?
ReplyDeleteThose Rollright Stones are very mysterious, indeed. We always look forward to your selfies, and love learning the background of the places you take them. Yes, we saw that some turnip cut down that tree. Terrible!
ReplyDeleteAlthough we have been to the Cotswolds many times I have never seen or heard of the Rollright Stones. We will most likely be heading that way next year before too many visitors arrive and will make a point of going to see them. Love that artsy effect, very dramatic!
ReplyDeleteIt's lucky those stones are still standing. If they fell over, they might become Rolling Stones (mol)!
ReplyDeleteWe did think of that, and purrhaps that's where the band name came from!!! MOL
DeleteRollright? What an interesting name. It makes me think of rollright over to my food dish, mol.
ReplyDeleteWow, we didn't know there were other stone circles other than Stonehenge!
ReplyDeleteToo bad about that Sycamore tree...what possess some people? Phooey and more.
I was in tears about tht tree. I hope they find who destroyed it. 300 years of heritage GONE!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW guys server is wobbling a bit at the moment BUT Dash Kitten can be reached with some browsers like Chrome. (Just in case you can’t reach us). As you know last week was a struggle but we are back to commenting this week.
A fascinating place to explore! Thank you for presenting it so well, kitties! That is sad about the sycamore tree.
ReplyDeleteI love ALL of the blogs about these places that you Mews have written and given us photos too. I would LOVE to visit every single one of them. Really. The disgusting individual who went after that tree and killed it deserves a jail sentence of several years at least.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great selfie and I love the art. XO
ReplyDeleteWOW, y'all really do look great out there!
ReplyDeleteThose stone formations are always intriguing.
ReplyDeleteCall me anything except late for dinner, right?
