Welcome to another BBHQ selfie selection, this week we decided to visit Scotland, we love the north, it's epic, and the pictish stones at Aberlemno are just something else!

These Pictish stones are just ameowzing, and well worth a visit, plus there are so many more standing stones and circles in Scotland, so it's our new mission now to visit each and every one! MOL And let's not furget how many of these pawesome ancient monuments are in Wales and England too, it looks like we might be pretty busy over the next couple of years!

Hello epic travellers and history lovers!
This week we had the purrleasure of visiting the Aberlemno Pictish Stones during our recent trip to the charming village of Aberlemno, located in Angus, Scotland. These four magnificent stones have stood the test of time, dating approximately between AD 500 and 800. There were six stones in total but two more stones have been removed for conservation reasons. Each stone is believed to depict meaningful themes and symbols that were significant to the Pictish people, an ancient Celtic-speaking tribe that once inhabited the region.
The indivdual stones comprise of:
A leaning prehistori standing stone
A natural boulder with traces of carvings of three symbols
A wonderpurr cross-slab
Another cross-slab in sandstone standing in the churchyard
One of the most striking stones, known as the Serpent Stone - the one in our selfie - showcases a serpent devouring a human figure, while another stone, the Battle Stone, depicts a vivid scene of battle, complete with swords and shields. The remaining stones boast intricate carvings of animals, crosses, and other significant symbols.
Aberlemno, besides being home to the Pictish Stones, is a delightful and tranquil village to explore. It features a few local shops and cafes, as well as a small museum that showcases the area's rich history and artifacts.
For those who wish to experience more, the nearby towns of Forfar and Brechin offer a plethora of interesting sights, such as the awe-inspiring 12th-century Brechin Cathedral and the Angus Folk Museum.
Nature enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise amidst the surrounding countryside's stunning beauty and vast hiking trails, including the renowned Caterthun Hill Forts that provide breathtaking views of the area's picturesque landscape.
Overall, Aberlemno and its surrounding areas are a must-visit for those seeking to immerse themselves in history, culture, and natural beauty. We loved our day trip, and highly recommend it to everypawdy!

We tried Prisma first this week, but there was nothing that complimentd the picture, so BeFunky came to the rescue and we think it turned out quite well.
The effect was created with Befunky - AI Enhancer, Oil painting DLX + colour changes to fill light and saturation.

Today we're waiting to see what the weather does, as there are so many jobs in the garden as the P.A. has been busy helping Nanny with her large garden and by the time she's finshed doing that the meters are so low there's no energy left to do ours! MOL
Smooch is eagerly awating his roast beef and will be camped out by the oven between 12.00 and 1.30 pm, so he doesn't miss out on his Sunday Feast.
Then we might watch a movie in the late afternoon, and if it's colder there's a high probability of a fire to snuggle in front of.
