Furbulous Sunday greetings furiends

Welcome to another BBHQ selfie extraordinaire. And today it was Melvyn's choice of where to visit as it's his birthday on Thursday, and we said dude, mew can go anywhere, but as he loves Camelot and Legends of King Arthur. He said, "I want to go back to Tintagel!"

So here's our epic selfie!

The B Team's King Arthur Selfie at Tintagel

Mew may notice that Smooch is sitting on Fudge's tail, he said, and I quote, "Dude, I didn't want to get a cold bum on the rocks!"
I can't repeat Fudge's reply, as we're a furmily friendly blog! MOL

We all love the Arthurian legends of old, and we're delighted when Melvyn chose to go back to Cornwall and indulge in a bit of fandom for the Great King Arthur!

The Gallos statue is 2.4m or 7ft 10" tall, therefore we did have to use a little photoshop wizardry so mew could actually see us! MOL

Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:

Greetings to all the history aficionados and travel enthusiasts out there!

Tintagel is a small village in Cornwall, England, and mew definitely want to add the Gallos King Arthur statue to your list of must-see attractions. This impressive bronze statue stands tall at the entrance of Tintagel Castle, which is said to be the birthplace of King Arthur. The statue, created by sculptor Rubin Eynon, depicts King Arthur holding his legendary sword, Excalibur, with one hand and a shield with his coat of arms in the other. The intricate details of the armour and the facial expression of the statue truly capture the strength and bravery of this legendary dude. As mew stand in front of the statue, mew can't help but feel a sense of awe and admiration for the mythical king who, according to legend, fought bravely for his people and defended his kingdom against all odds. It's no wonder that Tintagel has become a popular destination for those interested in Arthurian mythology. Whether mew're a die-hard fan of King Arthur or simply appreciate beautiful art, the Gallos King Arthur statue is definitely worth a visit. What an epically epic testament to the enduring legacy of this iconic dude and a reminder of the power of myth and legend to capture the imagination of generations.

This dude was truly EPICALLY EPIC, and The B Team does bow to his greatness!

Happy Trails

Smooch

The effect was created with the ios Prisma App, and we used the effect:- Spring plus changes to shadows, then we added a vignette filter to darken the edges while keeping the brightness in the centre of the picture.

We also turned this fab arty-farty picture into a puzzle, so do stop by the puzzle page and take the Puzzle Challenge, see if mew can beat our time of 7 mins 57 secs.

Just before we go, we want to answer The J-Cats question from last week's selfie, which was:

A propos stone circles, we were wondering what you think about those Nuts-Case Humans who sprayed Stonehenge with paint.

We find this blatant and wanton disregard for this Ancient Monument beyond reprehensible.
What the fluff did Stonehenge ever do to anypawdy? Purrhaps it was a case of let's try to ruin the Summer Solstice just because we can???

Anyhoo, it's time for us to go and start getting the Nip Nirvana Lounge ready for Melvyn's epic rave, and then we're going to spend the afternoon in the garden.

We do hope mew have an epic day and join us again on the morrow, when it may be Brain Training or it could be ManCat Monday! MOL

In the meantime ...

**FELINE FICTION FIX** Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #288 featuring **The Ice Maid's Tail** by Mandy Morton PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins + Photo Fails Blog Hop

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library ©BionicBasil®

Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and my goodness, what a warm week it's been. The catservatory was off limits as it was pawsitively scorchio in there, so I've spent most of my time in the sitting room, with Melvyn fetching my books from the library.

Amber's Book Reviews #288 ©BionicBasil® Me, Just After Having Some Taking Chicken Treats

He did start to grumble, so I casually reminded him that I could always take away his modelling privileges again.

After that, he became very very happy to be at my bidding, and he even brought me books that I didn't ask for. Though I suspect it was a ploy to keep me busy! MOL

Anyhoo, what books have mew been reading this week?

Apart from this week's top pick, I've also reread (R.R.) plus two new books (N.B.) since my last review:

Small Favor by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 10 - (R.R.)

Turn Coat by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 11 - (R.R.)

Changes by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 12 - (R.R.)

Blood Stones by W.V. Stott & Bavid Bussell - Dark Lakes BK 2 (N.B.)

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas (N.B.)

I've seen A Court of Thorns and Roses on my #BookTok feed for ages, being touted as a mega, epic, fantastic must read. So I thought I'd give it a whirl as I do like to read non-cat books too. I'm going to try book two and then I'll let mew know my thoughts.

Today I thought I'd share a photo fail of yours truly, in all my epically epic rotundness from June 2018 when I was stuck, and the P.A. had to pick me up and put me back on my paws.

Seriously though, I just wanted picking up! MOL

The Ice Maid's Tail

The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency Book 8

by

Mandy Morton

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

The town is gripped by a big freeze, and blizzard after blizzard has engulfed the feline community, leaving shops and businesses snowbound.

Hettie Bagshot and her sidekick, Tilly Jenkins, have found sanctuary by their fireside but soon they are bucketed into a terrifying nightmare, called to investigate the disappearance of the town’s kittens as – one by one – they are taken in the snow.

Here are the previous books in the series, that I have reviewed so far:

The Michaelmas Murders BK 5 - Review Coming Soon...

It's been quite a while since I shared a review from The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency, so this week I thought I'd share Book 8, now I know Book 5 hasn't had a review, and I think I was saving that to share last Catmas, but for reasons unknown it didn't happen, so I'll make sure that I review that before we move on to Book 9 in the future.

Mew know I do laugh out loud at some of the furbulous names the author comes up with, and I've just got to share a few: Krusty Alslopp - Preston Munch - Brothers Grump - Fluff Wither-Fork - Albertine Chop - Window Lene - Jenkin Cowdiddle.

The Ice Maid's Tail by Mandy Morton is the delightful eighth addition to The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency series. In this whimsical tale, the town is in the grip of a relentless winter, with blizzards trapping the feline community in a snowy embrace.

Hettie Bagshot and her loyal partner, Tilly Jenkins, find themselves thrust into a bone-chilling mystery as the town's kittens vanish one by one in the midst of the icy landscape. The enigmatic cats dwelling in Wither-Fork Woods and the looming prophecy of the Ice Maid's Tail weave an intriguing and captivating narrative.

The playful, witty and comedic prose, coupled with endearing characters, imbues this book with a charm that is sure to warm the hearts of all feline enthusiasts and cozy cat mystery aficionados alike. With a touch of humour and a whole lot of heart, The Ice Maid's Tail unfolds as a heartening and frost-kissed adventure, leaving readers eagerly awaiting the next escapade from The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency. And if I am honest, I can't wait to get my mittens on Book 9! MOL

Another Totally Top Paw Read

There are thirteen titles in the series so far, and I'm hoping there will be lots more!

  • Paperback: 290 pages
  • Audiobook: 7 hours 26 mins

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ~ **HEDGEHOG UPDATE!!!** Fudge's Loving This Sunspot, Parsley Vamped Out, and Smooch Found A Cool Spot! **PLUS** JULY'S BANDANA COLLECTION IS HERE!

Midweek News Banner ©BionicBasil® May 2023

Furbulous Greetings Supurr Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

It's been rather warm this week at BBHQ, and the hedgehogs have been very active around the garden. We know that we haven't shared the two babies, so here they are in all their cuteness!

This is Bip Bip the Hedgehog.

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Bip Bip The Hedgehog at the Watering Hole

And this is Nippy the Hedgehog.

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Nippy The Hedgehog Heading For Snacks

They don't usually come out until it's a little darker, but they must have been hungry and thirsty. That's never anything they have to worry about at BBHQ as the bowls are always full, and there are many different watering holes around the garden,

And we have to tell mew this: never in the 25 years the P.A. has lived here has she ever seen a fox in the garden, and that's mainly because it's fenced all the way around with only small holes for the hedgehogs to come and go. However, very late on Sunday evening, the P.A. heard a noise by the summer house, and as she looked down the dark path she spied what she first thought was Fudge's doppelganger, who pops in for a visit now and again, but as the doppelganger got closer, she realised it was a juvenile fox, who suddenly froze and then slunk off into the shadows of the trees.

So BBHQ now has a little fox to go with the menagerie! MOL

The Highland Adventure continued...

On the way back to Perth along the A86 between Newtonmore and Spean Bridge, Pattack Falls is a popular tourist place to stop. Mew literally just pull in off the road, park up and walk down a little path, and mew come to this delightful stream.

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® The Highland Adventure - Pattack Falls

It was a really warm day, and several people were paddling and kids splashing about in the crystal clear water, so photo opportunities were limited, but mew can see how pretty it is.

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® The Highland Adventure - Pattack Falls

Apparently, if mew go up the path in the photo below, mew would see the waterfall. Sadly, the P.A. didn't have time or the right footwear for a trek, but if mew click here, mew can see what the P.A. missed.

It was so very pretty, and the link to the website above...

...shows many photos, and now the P.A. wishes she'd trekked on! MOL

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

First up in the news this week

Fudge's Loving This Sunspot

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Fudge's Loving This Sunspot

Fudge adored reclining in the catservatory the other day, and spent hours upside down soaking up the warms.

We'll have some more Sunpots of The Week next time, so we'll see who got the best spot then! MOL

Next up in the news

 Parsley Vamped Out

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Parsley Vamped Out

Parsley vamped out while sitting in the window the other evening. It's funny—not funny, haha, but funny strange, as at the time, we were watching Blade II with Wesley Snipes.

Maybe Parsley was inspired! MOL

Finally this week

Smooch Found A Cool Spot

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Smooch Found A Cool Spot

It was really warm yesterday, so Smooch headed into the BBHQ library. It always stays much cooler in there if the door is kept closed and the blinds are down.

Later, he vanished into the Valentine's Cottage for a snooze, and the P.A. couldn't find him for ages! MOL
