Hello meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today. And there's nothing quite like a fresh, fluffy blanky is there?

Mew, remember last week when Melvyn gave me some lip? Well, I'm fixing his wagon, good and propurr.

I'm not having any of that kind of slather. So I decided the other night that I'm revoking his modelling privileges for the month of June, and he's going to spend that time in the library dusting the shelves and straightening up all the books.

I haven't told him yet because he thinks the P.A. is making him four new bandanas. Little does he know that I have other plans, which will be revealed in next Wednesday's post, as he's expecting to see four brand-new designs ready for the month ahead, and there won't be the bandana reveal he's expecting.

And the moral of the story is, don't hiss off the head librarian! MOL

Anyhoo, what books have mew been reading this week?

Apart from this week's top pick, I've also reread (R.R.):

Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost - Night Huntress World Series BK 1 (R.R.)

Mort by Terry Pratchett - Discworld Series BK 4 (R.R.)

Masquerade by Terry Pratchett - Discworld Series BK 18 (R.R.)

It's been a bit of a slow reading week, and I've not read any new books, but I do like to reread stuff. Unless a book is totally fluff, I'll reread things endlessly.

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.

1. My plans for the long weekend include __________________________.
2. _________________ is the messiest person I know.
3. I can’t thank _________ enough for _________.
4. I don’t understand why so many people _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. My plans for the long weekend include painting the door and fence leading from the potting shed to the new vegetable garden. I also have to line the raised beds with a membrane and then fill them with soil. Also, I was going to make Melvyn four new bandanas for June, but Amber said NO! (Oh dear!)

2. My mum is the messiest person I know. Not messy in the sense of a suitcase exploding and there's stuff everywhere, but rather a slight lack of organisation.

3. I can’t thank my cats, aka The B Team enough for being so fluffing EPICALLY EPIC! LOL

4. I don’t understand why so many people drive on the wrong side of the road on blind bends on narrow country lanes. Do they have fluffing X-ray vision or something?

Cat Trick

A Magical Cats Mystery Book 4

by

Sofie Kelly

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Kathleen Paulson enjoys her life as a small-town librarian with two extraordinary cats, Owen and Hercules, who provide companionship during the quiet times and have a remarkable talent for sleuthing when murder disturbs the peace...

The local businesses of Mayville Heights hope to convince Chicago-based company Legacy Tours to sell a vacation package for their town. Legacy Tours partner Mike Glazer grew up in Mayville Heights, but he’s no longer the small-town boy people once knew. Even the local bootlegger has an issue with the bossy loudmouth Mike has become - until someone shuts him up for good.

A few weeks ago I rediscovered this pawesome series, and I'm now on a mission to review the entire Magical Cats Mystery series before the end of the year.

Here are my previous reviews:

Cat Trick, the fourth instalment in Sofie Kelly's A Magical Cats Mystery series, is a captivating and charming cozy cat mystery that keeps mew eagerly turning those pages. The story follows Kathleen Paulson, a small-town librarian, and her two remarkable cats, Owen and Hercules, as they once again find themselves embroiled in a murder investigation that shakes up the peaceful town of Mayville Heights. The narrative unfolds with the town's concerted efforts to entice Legacy Tours, a Chicago-based company, into featuring a vacation package for their idyllic locale. However, the situation takes a grim turn when Mike Glazer, one of the partners of Legacy Tours, is discovered deceased. Unable to resist her natural inquisitiveness and with a nudge from her feline companions, Kathleen immerses herself in the investigation, despite the disapproval of her detective boyfriend, Marcus Gordon. Sofie Kelly's writing seamlessly intertwines a cleverly crafted murder mystery with a delightful dose of humour and allure with a dash of magic. The endearing feline pair, Owen and Hercules, add an extra layer of whimsy to the narrative, making them stand out as beloved characters in their own right, and as I said last week, we'd hire those two in a heartbeat! MOL As Kathleen delves deeper into the case, the town's secrets and tensions unravel, keeping mew engrossed until the very last page. Cat Trick is an enchanting blend of cozy allure, compelling mystery, and endearing characters that will leave mew eagerly anticipating the next escapade with Kathleen and her magical cats. And I purrsonally can't wait to get my mittens on book five again!

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill; so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't forget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

  1. Amber, you certainly know how to put a whippersnapper back in line.

I can't understand why some people drive as they do, at all. I think the idea of competing in a race on their video games has made them think every time behind the wheel is a race.

Thanks for reviewing another fabulous book and I appreciate your linking up with Feline Friday!

  2. Melvyn should know not to give you lip because he is always going to come off worse.
    That was another great review!

  3. Thanks Amber, you keep that Melvyn on his toes with library cleaning. And your mum doing painting! Yuck and yuck to that. I have decided that I must be driving on the wrong side of the road instead of all those crazy drivers!

  4. Amber, they'd all best remember to not hiss-off the head librarian!

  6. WOW sweet Amber, you are NOT to be messed with, but you look very pretty. Those were good answers from the P.A. and I really enjoyed your book review! Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  7. Great review Amber. That looks like a fun series. That sounds like an appropriate punishment for Melvyn and it will give the PA more time for other things. Thank you to the PA for participating in the fill-ins. I enjoyed her answers. People drive like that around here too. XO
