Hello meautiful library guests
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today. It was lovely and warm in the catservatory yesterday, and it was made even better with clean snuggle blankets plus Baby Snuff, my polar bear companion, he'd even had a quick whirl through the washing machine too, and he smelled lovely! MOL
And yes, I know I've got eye snot again; the P.A. has tried to ambush me five times already with a warm, damp cloth, but the good news is even in my advanced years, I can still protest enough for her to walk away with her evil, damp cloth! MOL
Mew remember last week when I mentioned Blogger was not working correctly and making things difficult? Well, the P.A. tried using the computer at work to write a post the other day, and Blogger worked normally. But at BBHQ today, the computer here has all the problems mentioned last week.
Maybe the two computers have different versions of Windows? The P.A. will investigate further and let mew know next week.
Anyhoo, what books have mew been reading this week?
Apart from this week's top pick, I've also reread (R.R.) plus a new read (N.R.) since my last review:
Dead Beat by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 7 - (R.R.)
Proven Guilty by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 8 - (R.R.)
White Knight by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 9 - (R.R.)
and for a bit of variety...
Fallen by Lauren Kate - Fallen Series BK 1 (R.R.)
Plus one new book, and if mew like the Rivers of London series, mew'll really, really like this... and the audio version is the best, the narrator is pawesome.
Magic Eater by W.V. Stott & Bavid Bussell - Dark Lakes BK 1 (N.R.)
The Dresden books are always a great read and never disappoint.
Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. My preferred method of procrastination is ____________________.
2. I always procrastinate when I am supposed to _________________________.
3. My goal of _________ is going really well.
4. If I opened a _________ shop, I would name it _________.
The P.A.'s answers are...
1. My preferred method of procrastination is total and utter immersion in nothingness for months! LOL
2. I always procrastinate when I am supposed to be writing. Or if I have to do something that really needs doing, then I can find every reason not to do it; it's kind of a mid-life rebellious streak. If there was a Master's Degree in procrastination, I'd have honours in it! LOL
3. My (unplanned) goal of procrastination is going really well. If anyone had told me pre-menopause that menopause really ramps the procrastination and apathy vibe right into the upper echelons I would have laughed, but here I am swimming in it over my head.
4. If I opened a vintage fashion and jewellery shop, I would name it Retro Chic, maybe or something like that.
Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!
A Cozy Magic Midlife Mystery
Silver Circle Cat Rescue Mysteries Book 2
by
Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
A beekeeper with a sting.
A cat with a secret.
A cat rescue in the middle of it all.
In the small town of Tablerock, Texas, life is as sweet as honey. Fifty-year-old Ellie Rockwell’s Silver Circle Cat Rescue is settling into the shelter’s inherited mansion on the edge of town, and only a few people know about the magical platter that came with it—the one that allows cats to speak to humans.
But life takes a sour turn when local beekeeper and honey entrepreneur Ben Tyson is found dead, leaving his beloved cat, Honey, as the only witness to the crime.

This week, I thought we'd revisit this fun cozy cat mystery series. If mew missed the review for book one, click here.
So, what did I think of book two in the series? Honey, Hairballs, and Murder is a delightful and magical cozy cat mystery that will whisk mew away to the enchanting town of Tablerock, Texas. Author Leanne Leeds weaves a charming tale filled with captivating characters, a touch of magic, and of course, plenty of feline charm, which mew know I love.
The quirky and endearing protagonist, Ellie Rockwell, brings warmth and humour to the story as she navigates through the mysterious death of a local beekeeper. With the help of her furry friends and the magical crystal platter that allows cats to speak to humans, Ellie sets out to unravel the truth behind the purrplexing murder.
The plot skillfully blends humour, suspense, and a hint of the supernatural to craft a purrfectly engaging story. The small-town backdrop adds an extra layer of charm, making readers feel right at home in Tablerock.
This story is not just a cozy cat mystery—it's a heartwarming tale of friendship, community, and the remarkable bond between humans and their precious furry feline companions. If mew're a fan of cozy cat mysteries with a touch of magic and a whole lot of humour, this book is the cat's meow!
There are nine books in the series, and if mew are subscribed to Kindle Unlimited, they are available in the catalogue to read for free, and if mew have Audible, they are available to listen for the cost of one member credit each. (Info correct at time of posting.)

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.
It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't forget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.
Until next time...
Keep calm and read more books

Amber, we too must visit a warm, wet cloth on Sweetie's face.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't fight too much, 'cause she's tiny and we are very gentle, but her teeth have been brought to bear.
I love your intro photo sweet Amber. Those were good answers too and it is strange that the two computers are handling things differently. A most excellent book review too, it sounds great. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteAmber we like yer polar bear. And look at that mousie with yer book. We like yer P A's 4 answers and let us know if she opens a jewelry store, we want emeralds. Yer face looks lovely and yer P A does not knead to wash it. Precious
ReplyDeleteOh you sweet girl, you still look beautiful despite your snot eyes. Hope it heals soonšWe had some trouble to come here too. We were getting commercials on our way here and that we had to pay to see you...but we ignored that and took another wayšøThose were very funny fill ins P.A. that menopauze is something huhš¹Double Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend to all of youš¾š½š
ReplyDeleteAmber, what a gorgeous kitty you are! Great review of a series that does indeed sound fascinating. Good fill ins by your P.A!
ReplyDeleteAmber, you are a cutie. How sweet you look with your polar bear. Excellent review. Looks like an interesting read. Thank you to the PA for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. So true about more procrastinating with menopause. Have a nice weekend. XO
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds really good! I love your stuffie :)
ReplyDeleteYour Baby Snuff looks very cute, Amber.
ReplyDeleteI am a champion at procrastination. So many things I intend to do but keep putting them off. I am ordering some books from Amazon later in the week as it looks as if I will be doing a lot of reading over the next few months. This book in paperback will very likely be amongst them.
Instead of an ambush, has your PA simply tried petting you gently, getting you comfy, and then using one finger wrapped in the cloth to pet you around the face and catch the eye almost by accident? It works with one of my stubborn cats, he doesn't even realize I did it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, loved the post and thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!
