Welcome to the BBHQ Festive News Round-Up!

Well, we finally got the Catmas Tree up on Caturday teatime, and this year we decided to go with a white and gold theme. It turned out quite nice, and Melvyn is modelling it below! MOL

We had a supurr fun Catmas, Smooch was in charge of snoopervising lunch, and he dutifully sat in front of the oven watching the bird cook. The P.A. did remove him when it was time to start cooking everything else, as she said, "Dude, mew are seriously in the way, and are a health and safety nightmare right now!"

He promptly harrumphed and then went to snooze in front of the fire until his lunch was ready.

Melvyn tried to climb the Catmas Tree, but luckily he didn't get far, decided it was not worth the trouble, and promptly went to assault their purrsonal Catmas Tree instead - see story below! MOL

The B Team's purrsonal Catmas Tree with a queue forming for allotted time assaulting their tree.

They are quite civilised, and as mew can guess Fudge got first dibs on it! MOL

The P.A. has to stick all the velcro catnip toys and pom poms on again for the next kitty in the queue!

Mew wouldn't believe how much fun it is.

Smooch had to do a few last-minute checks on the Santa Paws Sled, just in case Santa Paws needed any help on Catmas Eve.

THE SANTA PAWS SLED 

What We Used:

2 x large cardboard boxes

hot glue gun

scissors

red spray paint

black acrylic paint + brush

For the decor

white felt

non-toxic PVA glue

white pom pom trim

white feather trim

1 x small Christmas tree

small red baubles

red & white bells

small gold bows

2 x stick-on lights - headlights

2 x mood lights - underneath

2 x fat quarters for cushions and Santa sack

wadding for cushions and catnip cushions

1 set battery operated fairy lights

1 x small wooden plaque

other wooden Christmas tree decorations

Normally we share step-by-step instructions showing how to make things, but this time we thought we’d show mew exactly in almost real-time how the sled was created from start to finish, letting mew see how a mid-size cardboard box was transformed into a supurr festive sled for cats.

WHAT DO MEW THINK, IS IT A HIT OR A MISS?

Melvyn did pull the tree off the back at the end of the final episode! MOL 

What a fluffing heathen, anyhoo, it's all back together now as the P.A. has used a lot more glue. She thought it was secure enough, but sadly it wasn't quite fully Melvyn-Proof which he pointed out when it landed in the sleigh bed - OH DEAR!

But that little incident aside we think it turned out epically epic.

FYI - We are not allowed to use the sled without pawrental guidance, purrlease be aware of safety issues and the safety of your cat at all times if making this or any other crafting projects.

Welcome to the BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up!

OMC! Can mew believe the Catmas Countdown has begun? We haven't even got the tree up yet as life, the universe and other stuff has conspired against us, and our boiler broke down on Sunday, hopefully by the time mew read this it will be back up and running, as we are waiting for the boiler dude to come and fix it.

Luckily, the weather hasn't been too cold, well not fluffing freezing, so it's been manageable, though Amber has had several hissy fits and is camped out in front of the fire muttering unmentionables, which obviously we can't repeat! MOL

Anyhoo, here's a quick look at last year's tree, before we jump into this week's headlines. We were hoping to share this years, but that will have to wait until next week now, sorry about that.

We may do the red and white theme again this year, but we won't know for sure until the tree is in the sitting room and the P.A. brings all the decorations in, then we'll choose a scheme.

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

First up in the news

Fudge's Garden Safari + He's Waiting for The Catmas Tree! 

Fudge enjoyed a nice garden safari yesterday, it was a bit dull, but his ginger floof'a'licious really brought a splash of colour to the garden! MOL 

After that, he decided that he needed to check that the Catmas tree skirt was ok again before any tree decorating can begin!

Next up in the news

Smooch, Parsley and Pandora on Pawtrol

Smooch got himself perched on an old sleeper to check out what was happening on the lawn.

Parsley paw-sitioned himself on the path to get another angle of the lawn covered.

And Pandora, was hunkered down on one of the millwheels. And her vantage point covered the last part of the lawn. Don't ask me what they were on with, as I've been told it's classified! MOL 

Don't worry I'll check the security camera footage and if there's anything to report I'll let mew know next week!  

Finally this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

This week's top pick was the Foxy Festivities bandana, and Melvyn decided to pose on the rug instead of the kitchen island, as he said, "He needed a new modelling perspective!" MOL

This time, we're making a pawesome

What Mew Will Need:

Pudding: Brown Faux Fur 

White Faux Fur

Wadding/Stuffing

Lining/backing fabric

Leaves: Green fabric 

Wadding/Stuffing

Catnip - we use our homegrown organic catnip

Berries: Red Wool + pom pom maker, or use 2 x cardboard circles - the old school way

plus

Scissors/Needle/Thread/Chalk/Tape Measure/Sewing Machine

Optional Cat ~ Parsley was today's Craft Room Snoopervisor

Let's Get Started On The Pudding

1.  Gather supplies.

2.  Lay out the fabric and place pattern. 

3. Cut out.

4.  Mew should now have 6 x segments.

Those of mew who are regulars to our blog, will know that we made a pumpkin pouffe on our Creepy Crafting with Cats Halloween Special; so rather than go through all the steps again, just click here to see the entire step-by-step construction.

5.  Once sewn together, check size; Parsley says it's good to go!

6.  Stuff to your desired plumpness, and mew should now have something that looks like this.

Let's make the Catnip Holly Leaves 

 1. & 2. Use A4 paper, fold it in half, draw a holly leaf template and cut it out.

3. & 4.  Iron fabric, and cut out 4 x leaves.

5.  Take wadding and pin 2 x leaves on top.

6. & 7.  Sew around the edge and leave a gap to turn right-sides out, and then stuff with catnip - as much as mew think is necessary! MOL

8.  Sew up the gap by hand, and mew should now have a couple of holly leaves that looks like this.

It's Pom Pom Time

1. & 2.  Take your pom pom maker and begin wrapping the wool around tightly.

Or use two donut shaped pieces of card, and wrap the wool around. 

3. After a few minutes it should look like this.

4. Close and secure the pom pom maker with clips.

5.  Take small sharp scissors and cut the wool - do be careful when cutting.

6.  Take a longer strand of wool and secure the pom pom together.

7.  Mew should now have something that looks like this. Most pom pommeee! MOL

Now For The Topping... MMMMMMMM...

1. Cut a circle, or slightly oval in our case - The P.A. only ordered a small amount of the white faux fur - OOPS! 

2.  Cut and pin backing/lining to faux fur - we used an old sheet that had shrunk in the tumble dryer - note to self: never dry bamboo bedding in the tumble dryer! MOL

3.  Sew the right sides together, leaving a gap.

4.  Turn right-sides out and sew up the small gap by hand, mew should now have something that looks like this. Which could also be used as a plush snuggle mat on its own.

Put it all together and mew should now have this...

EPIC OR WHAT?

Good enough to eat... almost! MOL

We love it! Plus it's calorie-free! MOL 

Amber is still trying snort one of the holly leaves... nuff said! [But we can see an intervention on the horizon!]

The Catmas Pudding Pouffe is purrfect for

Snoozing, Snorting and Playing

Now we know mew want one!
