The Purrminator is an action-packed experience that takes mew on a journey through a world of perilous danger with oodles of excitement, though sometimes in a scary way. With depictions of nightmare and spine-tingling encounters, the story draws mew in, making mew feel as though mew are right there with young Melvyn, fighting for survival as he's relentlessly hunted by the evil cyborg machines, known as Purrminators, as he tries to find his Great Uncle Basil through time and space. Oh my Cod, will he make it?

HOLD ON TIGHT, GUYS; THIS IS GOING TO BE ONE WILD, FLUFFING ADVENTURE!!!

Chapter One

Alone In The Dark

Leaves rustled in the trees above as the chill wind hissed with eerie malevolence. The kitten sat frozen still in the deepest, darkest shadows as the air around him burst with danger. His golden eyes darted all around, checking one last time that he was alone. Taking a deep breath, he sank soundlessly to the ground before springing forward into the open and darting through the overgrown garden, leaping over dead shrubs and piles of ancient leaves and other debris.

Careening around the back of the dilapidated summerhouse and slipping on a slick of stinking dead, wet leaves, his eyes locked on what he’d been searching for, the BBHQ bunker entrance. He wanted to shriek with joy but clamped a paw tight over his mouth as the last thing he wanted to do was to give his location away.

Racing into the dark cavernous maw of the bunker entrance, the kitten’s apprehension grew as he realised there was no one home, and he was alone.

Cobwebs hung in thick white swathes covering every surface of the corridor, swaying in the light breeze and billowing like voluminous gauzy curtains. The floor, covered in a layer of dust, took on the appearance of a barren, grey, sandy desert, with intricate ripples tracing the path of the wind that had entered through the open steel blast doors.

The tabby and white kitten crept into the deepening gloom on silent paws. Silence hung like a heavy weight as he stopped and listened attentively just inside the doorway, as the musty aroma of a long abandoned space filled his nostrils. He crinkled his nose and tried not to cough as the dust swirled around him.

A few seconds later, a low sonorous growl sounded off in the distance, and then another and another, sparking a cacophony of danger and, potentially, death.

The kitten gulped. Knowing he didn’t have much time and was already at the point of no return after trying to evade his pursuers for the last two hours. He scrabbled through a heavy cobweb swathe with trembling paws, looking for the door closure button.

He clawed at the sticky cobwebs as the snarls and growls loomed closer; his breathing was frantic as he desperately searched for the button.

Lethal claws tip-tapped eerily on the stone slabs, only a short distance away as twilight descended into full-blown darkness.

The kitten held his breath as he searched the wall in utter anguish for the button. He knew it was there. He’d seen blueprints of this place a hundred times and had memorised everything. Letting his shaky paw glide over the metal wall, he risked a glance over to the open doorway.

His heartbeat was redlining and his ears were filled with a throbbing whooshing sound as he saw two red glowing eyes peering directly at him.

Clamping his jaw together to stop the scream that was bubbling up, threatening to escape, his paw unexpectedly connected with a large round button

“Please work!” He frantically thought as he struck it with the remaining strength he had.

There was an earsplitting screech as the door mechanism fought through the years of rust and grime to close.

The glowing red eyes flared, a guttural snarl rang out, and the thing outside in the darkness  pounced.

**AND CUT**

The Purrminator by Basil and The B Team 2024 ©BionicBasil® Page Break

Guys, we are sorry to cut it there, but we know mew don't have much time to read a saga today.

If mew would like to read Chapter Two, let us know in the comments, as we've got a feeling this is going to develop into an epic adventure. (And another one that isn't quite written yet! MOL)

However, if mew want to see where it goes, we'll gladly continue a chapter a week, but that is up to mew.

In the meantime, if possible, don't forget to...

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **HALLOWEEN EDITION** Smooch - Where's My Pumpkin? Fudge Finds A Blinding Sunspot, and Melvyn's Modelling This Weeks Top Pick Bandana

The B Team's Midweek News Halloween Banner @BionicBasil®

Epic Greetings Furbulous Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

It's been a busy week at BBHQ, and as for the weather, it's rained, there's been a couple of supurr brief sunspots, see Fudge enjoying one below, and it's been rather misty on occasion, but then Halloween is almost here, so mist is normal.

And if mew didn't see me on Monday's Bumper Brain Training post, it's the Mewton-Clawson Annual Zombie Hunt tonight. I was all geared up and ready to go, and then, I saw my 2024 Zombie Hunter Permit was about to expire!

NO FLUFFING WAY!!!

Luckily, I know a lovely lady cat who works in the local Town Hall. Her name is Daphne, and I saved her a couple of years ago from a weird wolf attack, so I made a call, and she got my permit approved instantly. EPIC!

Take a look at the local poster advertising the event. It features Dirk the Dangerous; he's from Upper Fluffton, a small hamlet about a mile to the north of Mewton~Clawson.

THE MEWTON-CLAWSON ANNUAL ZOMBIE HUNT @BionicBasil®

In 2023, Upper Fluffton was overrun with zombies, and thank cod Dirk, who'd only just moved there after a rather colourful career in a special ops force, was on paw to save the residents.

It was only fitting after he'd saved everypawdy that he was on this year's poster, and fluff, he looks as mean as hell, doesn't he?

So wish us luck tonight, and we'll let mew know how many we tagged and bagged next week.

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

First up in the news

Smooch ~ Where's My Pumpkin?

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Smooch - Where's My Pumpkin

If mew saw yesterday's brand new Halloween Crafting with Cats post, Smooch was a little hissed off that by the time he got there after a rather long catnap that the pumpkin had been mauled, slobbered on and in his opinion was not fit for purpose.

He did demand a brand new one be made immediately, however he did apologise to the P.A. and here he is making said apology.

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Smooch - At least I've Got Haunted House

And this was Smooch earlier in the day after he'd got a bit damp outside and then headed into the crystal room to sulk in his haunted house! MOL

Next up in the news

Fudge Finds A Blinding Sunspot

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Fudge Finds A Blinding Sunspot

There's not been a lot of sun, but there was one event the other day that Fudge took full advantage of the rare sunspot in the sitting room.

And when we say it was blinding, it was BLINDING!!! MOL

Finally this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

Melvyn's modelling the very last October bandana today, and doesn't he look cute!!!

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Melvyn Modelling The Halloween Cats Bandana

He did start off today's video with a little bit of tummy grooming, as he said, and I quote, "My tummy fur was sticking out all over the place!"

Check out Melvyn's videos on your preferred social media channel:

Which one is your favourite this week?

Which one should he model next?

Here's the brand new bandana fabric collection for November.

There are four Wednesdays next month, but there were five fabric quarters, and they are all too cute not to share, and they are lovely brushed cotton, so Melvyn is loving that cozy vibe! MOL

The P.A. has decided to leave the choices like this, so just pick your favourite fabric and watch it appear like magic on Melvyn next week! MOL

The Magic* Pumpkin Catnip Wand

Halloween Special Crafting with Cats ©BionicBasil® The Magic Pumpkin Catnip Wand

 Isn't it epic?

*It's magic because it's got oodles of catnip inside! MOL MOL

What We Used:

Orange faux fur fabric

Non Toxic glue + Glue gun

String

Green feathers

Tinkly bell

Wooden dowel

Catnip

Stuffing or wadding

Needle ~ Thread ~ Scissors ~ Sticky Tape ~ Optional Sewing Machine

Today's project was made with supplies we already had in the craft room.

Halloween Pawty Divider ©BionicBasil®

Let's Get Started

Halloween Special Crafting with Cats ©BionicBasil® The Magic Pumpkin Catnip Wand - Steps 1 - 4

1. We used some leftover fabric and other supplies in the craft room.

2.  We cut a circle for our pumpkin in the orange faux fur about 7.5" or just under 17 cm in diameter. (We used a 5L paint can to draw around!!! MOL)

3. Next, we cut three lengths of string as 48" or 108 cm.

4. Tying a knot to join them together.

Halloween Special Crafting with Cats ©BionicBasil® The Magic Pumpkin Catnip Wand - Steps 5 - 8

5. & 6. & 7.  Taping the string to the table, we plaited the three lengths together. We only did this because the sting was very thin and wouldn't have lasted two minutes with our claws. But if mew have a thicker string or twine, then mew can skip these steps.

8.  Place the string in the centre of the faux fur on the inside.

Halloween Special Crafting with Cats ©BionicBasil® The Magic Pumpkin Catnip Wand - Steps 9 - 12

9.  Stitch the string to the faux fur. The reason we did this is because most wand toys detach too easily, so we're trying to mitigate that.

10.  And for extra security, we added a blob of hot glue.

11.  Then, we did a simple running stitch all the way around the edge of the faux fur. Leaving the needle attached to the thread as it's needed later on. So, don't snip anything yet!

12.  Gently pull the stitches so the pumpkin shape begins to form. **Make sure the end of the thread is secure before pulling the stitches. Otherwise, mew will just pull all the thread out.

Halloween Special Crafting with Cats ©BionicBasil® The Magic Pumpkin Catnip Wand - Steps 13 - 16

13. & 14. The fun part!!! MOL
Add as much catnip as mew want to the pumpkin, and then use some wadding to fill the rest to the top.

15.  Pull the stitches tighter so it's almost a fully formed pumpkin. Next, take the feathers and test them in situ for the right aesthetic.

16.  And then, using more hot glue, dab a little on the bottom of each feather and stick them into the top of the pumpkin.

Halloween Special Crafting with Cats ©BionicBasil® The Magic Pumpkin Catnip Wand - Steps 17 - 20

17. &
18. While the feathers are drying. Take the other end of the string and, using more hot glue, begin to secure the string to the end of the wand, wrapping it tightly and glueing it down as mew go until it reaches the bottom of the wooden dowel.

19.  Back to the top of the pumpkin. Pull the thread as tight as it will go and stitch the opening closed, making sure to secure the feathers as well. Then we used a small bell from another toy Melvyn recently destroyed in between the feathers.

20.  Finally, using a little square of orange felt, we cut enough to make an end cap.

Halloween Special Crafting with Cats ©BionicBasil® The Magic Pumpkin Catnip Wand - Steps 21 - 24

21. &
22. & 23.  Check that the felt is big enough to overlap the dowel and fold in half, then stitch either by hand or on a sewing machine across one end and down the side. Place a tiny blob of glue on the end of the wand, then push the wand into the end cap.

24. And voila, mew should have a really nifty, supurr fun pumpkin wand toy.

And there mew have it, only 24 easy peasy, supurr simple steps to making your very own  Magic* Pumpkin Catnip Wand! MOL

It took just under an hour to make, so not that long, and that's us making something that we had no clue about when we walked into the craft room and pondered over the supplies we had in stock, so it should take mew much less time.

Let's see what Melvyn and Fudge Thought.

Halloween Special Crafting with Cats ©BionicBasil® Fudge and The Magic Pumpkin Catnip Wand

Smooch and Parsley were snoozing while these two heathens had some fun!

Watch our video on YouTube.

Direct YouTube link

Yes, they are loving it. Smooch did appear to investigate and was horrified to learn that it had been slobbered all over and promptly harumphed and stalked off in a huff, shouting at the P.A., "Mew'd better make me one all for myself!"

And before mew say a word, we know the pumpkin is too big to flick around, but it was more of a 'chase me' toy, as the P.A. wanted something that Melvyn couldn't kill and decimate totally in under three seconds. So far, the pumpkin has survived being severely stalked, pounced on, repeatedly pursued and kicked to fluff over the last few days.

But, the good news is, mew can always make the pumpkin any size mew want; a gold ball size would be purrfect for flicking.
