Love To Read? Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #175 featuring **Dead and Breakfast: A Merry Ghost Inn Mystery** by Kate Kingsbury PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library ©BionicBasil®

Hello gorgeous library guests

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me today, and this week at the Mewton-Clawson Library I've been pretty much unable to get to the stacks as the P.A. has been making our Halloween Crafting with Cats Project.

And when I tell mew, I really don't mind not having library access as this project is so fun and I can't wait for it to be finished, in the meantime, this is what I've been up to. Snuggling with my heat pad in the catservatory.

ginger and white tabby cat snoozing with her hot water bottle

As mew can see, I haven't got a care in the world, and also while I was here I've been listening to this weeks book, so let's hop in and see what I've got for mew this week in the run-up to Meowoleen.

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15

1. My go-to place to purchase _________ is _________.

2. _________ immediately improves my mood.

3. I think _________ is really spooky.

4. I wish I had a magical potion for _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. My go-to place to purchase oodles of stuff is Amazon.

2. My cats immediately improve my mood. My little mood-boosters! LOL

3. I think a dark, foggy night on a deserted country lane is really spooky. How do I know, I walk at night, on dark spooky lanes, which can sometimes be foggy! LOL

4. I wish I had a magical potion for getting rid of fluffing covid, forever.

Dead and Breakfast

A Merry Ghost Inn Mystery

 Kate Kingsbury

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Melanie West is getting her life back on track after a messy divorce when her grandmother, Liza Harris, asks her to join her in opening a bed-and-breakfast inn. Together, Liza and Melanie purchase a purportedly haunted mansion on the Oregon coast and jump right into clearing out the cobwebs. But while attempting to remove wallpaper in an upstairs bedroom, the new B&B owners stumble upon a very real skeleton in their closet. The police suspect the skeleton is that of the wife of the previous owner of the B&B, but no one in town seems to want to say much about her.

As we're heading in Spooky season, this week I thought I share a terrific cozy mystery with mew. And although it hasn't got a cat in the story, there is a rather cute K9 instead, I bet mew didn't expect that this week! MOL

Anyhoo this is the first book in a series of three (so far), which is always a huge plus as mew know I like a good long series, the more the better. I also really like Tavia Gilbert as a narrator, so another plus.

The main characters are interesting, an English grandmother and her American granddaughter buy a haunted house together to open a B&B, but the discovery of a skeleton during their renovations puts a swift halt to the DIY.

The plot rattles along at a fair pace, and even after listening for 2 & 1/2 hours, I still hadn't got a suspect, not like me at all, I'm usually supurr keen on that.

I really enjoyed all the twists and turns, the grandmother trying to set the granddaughter up with the local cop was quite funny in places. All in all, I did enjoy the story, lighthearted and good value, just like a cozy mystery should be. A purrfect Sunday afternoon read in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate.

I'm headed off to get book 2, and get snuggled in front of the woodburner.

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time fur me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Before I go, we're celebrating my 19th Birthday tomorrow, and Pandora and I are having a joint Halloween Pawty, so do come and join in the fun!

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

Welcome to The BBHQ Mid-Week News Round-Up A Health Update on Sloppy Sauce Plus Amber's Felted Mini Me!

Cats Banner, The B Team, cats, cute,

Epic Wednesday Greetings Furiends

Welcome to the Pet Parade and our weekly news round up!

Furst up in the news this week, is a health update on Parsley. We got the results from his poop tests that were sent off for analysis last Monday, and the good news is, there were no abnormalities or anything to be concerned about.

Luckily Parsley has been slop free the last three days, and the vet said if the slops do come back then there's a couple of things we can try, the furst of which is a course of steroids via injection/shot and the second involves some medication to help reset his gut, although that second option is via syringe orally. Which as mew know is not always easy to administer to a kitty, so paws crossed that his bum stays solid and no further treatment will be required.

Parsley hanging out in the catservatory.

Next up, Pandora was enjoying her morning under the gazebo, although it was quite breezy and her fur went super floofy!

Brindle Tortoiseshell Cat sitting in the garden, Super fluffy cat,

Pandora and Smooch adore snoozing on the sofa and spend many an afternoon watching the birds and all the other goings-on.

Oh, we've got three hedgehogs in the garden at the moment, so we'll get a video for next weeks post.

Finally, mew may remember on last Wednesday's post, that we were given a wool felting kit by the Cats Protection as part of their new fundraiser, well the P.A. decided to make a series of videos showing how she made the cat Christmas Bauble from start to finish.

Watch the entire series here, or click the links below each video to watch direct on YouTube.

What did mew think?

Amber still hasn't made up her mind on the finished project, she says she's cogitating on it! Oh dear! MOL

That's us done for today, Amber will be back on Friday with another fab book just for mew, and if mew missed Monday's Colouring with Cats we shared a beautiful crystal, one of our favourites and Fudge modelled it beautifully.

Love To Colour? Colouring with Cats #129 ~ Getting Your OM’s on with Mandalas on Mondays ~ Crystal of the Week PLUS **Your Crystal Questions Answered** What Is Larimar Good For?

Turquoise Mandalas on Mondays Banner 2020 ©BionicBasil® getting your Om's on and unleash Your Zen Harmonies

Supurr Monday greetings beautiful furiends

Welcome to another fun week at BBHQ and today, we're continuing our crystal journey. This time, we've got a lovely gemstone to share as Jen asked us; what is larimar good for?

Crystal of The Week

What is Larimar good for?

Larimar is just one of those stones that draws mew in. They have the most exquisite tones of aqua, bluey-green and turquoise with white, it is a semi-opaque stone in all shades of the aforementioned blue hues. It was only discovered and made available to the gem market as we know it in 1974, and it comes from the Dominican Republic, so it's a relatively new find.
healing crystal identification card, Larimar crystal, healing crystals larimar examples,

Fudge is wearing one of the P.A.'s favourite pendants, and we do have a few tumble stones too, although they are quite small as larimar can be quite expensive, especially the brighter, aqua blue tones.

Ginger Cat Wearing a Larimar and silver pendant, beautiful cat wearing larimar crystal pendant

Let's tell mew a little bit about the gem lore surrounding this beautiful stone. Larimar is reported to be a very protective crystal, and its name is translation means tranquility. So if mew're looking for more harmony, relaxation and peace in your life this could be worth looking at.

Larimar is also purportedly very spiritual and assists in reaching deeper states of meditation. It is also said to raise consciousness, and helps with spiritual connections, for instance with the angelic realms and/or angelic beings.

If mew're looking for more going with the flow in life, for instance; if mew feel like mew're constantly swimming upstream, against the flow, this may be one to try, to help dissolve blockages, self sabotaging thoughts/feelings, and assist in moving through life with more fluidity. Try wearing a pendent or bracelet etc... and see if it helps.

A supurr stone for the throat chakra, although as with all chakra placements, it could be placed wherever mew feel it would be most beneficial.

The P.A. finds wearing crystals as jewellery is far easier than carrying around a pocketful of rocks! MOL  Although she does have a small zip purse in her handbag with an assortment of stones in.

If mew're drawn to this stone, buying one in purrson is the way to go, as then mew can actually see the stone mew are actually getting. It's difficult to buy some crystals online, and there's nothing worse than opening an internet bought crystal and it's nothing like the one mew thought mew'd bought. Unless the listing says, that mew are definitely getting the one in the picture.

Many thanks for emailing us Jen, and we hope that answered your question.

If mew have any crystal questions; email us, DM us or ask us in the comments below.

(disclaimer; we are not health or medical practitioners, all crystal info is purely for entertainment purposes only.)

Anyhoo, we do hope mew've all have a totally pawesome weekend, and that mew're ready fur the week ahead, so let's jump right in and start as always with our little breathing exercise, which we're sure mew all have down paw by now...  but if mew've furgotten, stop what mew're doing fur a moment and take deep fulfilling breaths; counting to five on the inhale and five on the exhale:

Breathe in
Breathe out

Breathe in
Breathe out

Breathe in
Breathe out

Smooch is here again to offur mew assistance in getting your OM's on and Zen Harmonies happening, so just press play, close your eyes and follow his instructions.

Don't mew feel better already?  I know we do!
