Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #25 featuring The Vampire's Mail Order Bride

Welcome To

With Amber ~ The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Wunderpurr greetings fellow book lovers

And welcome to the library today.

Mew may remember on last weeks post I spoke about my need to exercise a little more aftur eating a few mince pies too many offur the Catmass period.  Well aftur a close examination and evaluation my girth I thought that rather than be in denial and sleep all day with my paws tucked under a cosy blanky I'd start gently and do a few crunches.

So there I was on the cream rug, upside down minding my own business and managing to do an epic amount of crunches - my current rate is one crunch effury 5 minutes, with a 10 minutes rest in-between each one, purretty impressive eh? -  anyhoo there I was crunching my day away minding my own business when I suddenly heard muffled laughter coming from the sofa.

I craned to see whom was making said noises and I saw Parsley and Smooch peering down upon my purrson.

Their muffled laughter suddenly erupted into all-out hilarity.

"What?" I snapped rather churlishly, feeling the clutches of insecurity grasp my waistline tightly.  And at that singular moment I wundered if I could get a girdle, but then dismissed the idea as fast as it had come because a hideous visualization popped in my mind of a ginormous fluffy muffin top!

It took the pair of them a few moments to compose themselves before Parsley said. "Amber mew need to go to boot camp!"

"What?" I replied, eyes wide in horror. [I was still recovering from the fluffy muffin top image].

"Yep, we're starting a new boot camp fur cats and mew seriously need to come!" Smooch said grinning.

I jabbed at my jelly belly and as it undulated like a soft, fluffy ripping wave up and down my stomach I said.  "It's solid muscle under here mew know, I actually have a six pack, mew just can't see it at the moment!"

"More like a ten pack of mince pies with two pints of fresh cream!" Parsley laughed.

Well the nerve of it, I thought and replied rather tartly. "Mew two are so rude and fur your information I'm big boned and rather fluffy!"

They laughed and then promptly clamped paws offur theirs mouths when I gave then my furry bestest withering glance.

"Oops, I think we've offended her," Smooch stage whispered.

"But she needs to tone up otherwise Basil won't let her go on the next mission," Parsley whispered in reply.

"I can hear mew both," I said. "I may be fluffy but I'm not deaf!"

"Amber," Parsley said gently. "I just heard Basil say that something is coming, C.J Catkin from the F.I.B. tipped him off and we all have to be in peak physical condition to take on this new threat... come on, let me and Smoochie help mew and by the way if mew think your secret donut stash is safe, think again!"

I flopped back on the rug and sighed heavily as my jelly belly jiggled and decided that it was time and I needed to up my training, like severely.

"Ok heathens we'll start tomorrow," I smiled and then thought about my second secret donut stash and began to giggle.

Anyhoo I won't keep mew in suspense any longer, so let's move on to this weeks book pick.

This week on book reviews with Amber, I'm sharing

The Vampire's Mail Order Bride
Nocturne Falls Series

by

Kristen Painter

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.

Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.

While not a cat book per se, this novel does feature a cute kitty called Captain Underpants, and that's why I'm sharing it!

So my thoughts on the furst Nocturne Falls book, is I really liked it.  It's a paranormal cutsie romance with a vampire that is so not like any other vampire mew've read about.  The story is cleverly plotted and the main character Delaney is on the run from new York mobsters.

The book is quite comical in places and has a great supporting cast, with werewolves, witches, jealous ex-girlfriends, and a whole host of others.

This is what I would categorize as a light Sunday afternoon read in front of the fire in my basket with a cup of nip tea and a plate of nip cookies and I will definitely be exploring the series further.

Paperback copy:  372 pages

Audio Edition: 8 hours 47 minutes
