Hello gorgeous library guests and welcome to my private library.

So sorry to have missed mew the last couple of weeks, in fact it's been a disaster fur feline fiction, but anyhoo I'm here now and that's all that matters!

Fudge Guarding Amber's Books ©BionicBasil® Feline Fiction of Fridays #96

Mew maybe wundering why Fudge is guarding my books, well there's a new cat in town sniffing around and I thought he looked like he was taking a shine to that stack through the window the other morning early on, so I charged Fudge with being book security and as mew can see, he takes his job furry seriously!

I did draw the line at his suggestion of a tank outside the catservatory... these young mancats and their toys hey??!! MOL

And now I think it's time to share this weeks book.

Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats

Amber and Melvyn's Story Time ©BionicBasil® Feline Fiction of Fridays #96

Mew know I was reading my news feed on Thursday morning and a headline said; 13 Books to read before they're made into movies or released as movies, something like that, I can't quite remember now.  But anyhoo my interest was piqued and as I was scrolling through the list I came across today's book and what I didn't know was, that the mewsical Cats is based on it - I suppose the entire wurld but me knew that fact but then I have zero interest in mewsicals! MOL

So aftur that completely useless factoid which mew guys already knew, what did I think to this classic? I thought it was epic and young Melvyn joined me again so we could have storytime and he agreed it was epic too!

We both absolutely loved rhyme time, and think effuryone should read this at some point. And just before I pop off, another completely useless factoid, my copy used to belong to a library in Hertfordshire, and know it's part of the Mewton-Clawson library, how fabulous.

Happy reading or listening until next time

  1. Momma's never read it, but she needs to! She's seen Cats at least.

  2. It's good to see you again Amber. I didn't know CATS was based on a book. Now I know. :) Jake thinks a tank outside the catservatory sounds like a good idea. Of course, he's a mancat, so what else can you expect.

  3. Angel boys mum speaking.
I have had that book for a very long time and I love it and still often read bits out of it. I must say though that the cover of yours is far nicer than my plain looking light brown one!
Because Ivor knew I enjoyed the book so much he booked a London break for us in the early 80s. We had the best seats in the house to see the musical as a surprise for our wedding anniversary.I can remember how disappointed he was when we only had a view of the back of the set. He didn't realise the stage rotated and we really did have the best seats!

  7. "The Naming Of Cats" by T. S. Eliot
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
    It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey--
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter--
But all of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum-
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
    And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover--
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
    His ineffable effable
    Effanineffable
    Deep and inscrutable singular Name.
    :o)

  8. Amber we LOVE this book and so does Dad. We keep telling him he needs to have a bookshelf next to the couch like we used to so those special ones can always be close
