Hello gorgeous library guests

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today and today, as it's the last Friday of the month I'm joining the Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop with Mudpie from the pawesome blog:  www.mochasmysteriesmeows.com

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the ameowzing 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.

1. Why is _________________ so expensive?

2. On holidays, I always have a second serving of __________________________.

3. I’m eternally grateful for _________.

4. ‘Tis the season for _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. Why is everything so expensive? And have you noticed how small everything is compared with years ago?  I bought a box of After Eight Mints the other day and they're not much bigger than a postage stamp now.

2. On holidays, I always have a second serving of vodka, and maybe a third if it's flavoured vodka!

3. I’m eternally grateful for my hubby, cats and all the wonderful friends in the cat blogosphere.

4. ‘Tis the season for good things to happen, so here's wishing everyone good things.

The Ten Lives of Hector, The Cat!

by

Jane L King

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

What you may not know is that cats have a special sense that allows them to travel through space and human time, and they can travel completely unseen! With the help of a large dictionary, a little bit of sunshine, and a whole lot of sleeping, Hector is taken to many wonderful places.

Amber's Book Review Mice Divider ©BionicBasil®

This is purrobably one of the shortest reviews I've ever done, but then the book is not very long, it's more of a novella in my humble opinion.

Anyhoo it's great; a really fun, little story with some absolutely gorgeous full-colour illustrations throughout.

Hector goes on quite the adventure to ancient Egypt (one of my favourite places ever) and is, in fact, a time-travelling cat, I'm surprised we've not bumped into him on one of our missions! MOL

So all I can say is, if mew love cats, adventure, ancient Egypt, time travel and a bit of history this is so a book for mew!

I hope there are more in the series as I'm keen to see where Hector goes next.

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time fur me to say BFN or bye-fur-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

We did have a sponsored post planned for tomorrow but the P.A. had one too many appointments this week stealing her time so that post will now be on Tuesday instead, and we'll be back on Sunday with our usual selfies post.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

Epic Wednesday Greetings Furriends

Welcome to the Pet Parade and our weekly news round up!

Furst up in the headlines this week is...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving with The B Team at BBHQ ©BionicBasil®

And for those celebrating here in the U.K. there's always plenty of turkey to go around at BBHQ, but be quick because young Melvyn and Parsley are both on bulking sessions right now! MOL

Wherever mew are, and howeffur mew celebrate, we really hope mew all have a pawesomely supurr day tomorrow!

Next up this week, The Woodland Furiends Snuggle Mat, Catnip Kicker and Catnip Cushion Set will be winging their way across the pond to a lovely new home later this week, and we thought what a delightful set to share for Thanksgiving.

As it's been shipped to the USA we've used catnip spray instead of using our homegrown dried catnip in the kicker and cushion as the last thing we want is for it to get stuck in customs and confiscated, and the kitty who it's destined for to be cheated out of it on a technicality.

And to be honest, we can't find out whether or not mew can ship dried catnip to the USA anywhere, so we're erring on the side of caution, and going the no dried catnip route!

What to mew think to the fabric, isn't it absolutely adorable?

Finally this week, Fudge was caught on our BBHQ CCTV sneaking out to the TTTB aka Time Travelling Telephone Box early one morning to make a call.  And yes, the TTTB is still a fully functional call box, so anyhoo apparently he made a call to Catline.

For those of mew who don't know what Catline is; it's a dedicated call centre where cats can ring 24/7 and voice their grievances regarding purrsonally purrceived injustices (P.P.I.'s) with the hope of 3rd pawty intervention to help resolve said grievances, and speed up the process when in-home talks and negotiations are no longer viable or wurking.

Fudge Calling Catline in TTTB aka Time Travelling Telephone Box ©BionicBasil® The Pet Parade 381

Fudge must have forgotten about the auto-voice-recorder on all the phones at BBHQ as we managed to get a complete transcript of the call.

"This is Catline, how may I help mew today?" asked the Catline Opurrator.

"Er yes, this Fudge at BBHQ and I've got a massive purroblem!"

"Oh dear, can mew give me the details?"

"Yes, I'm being deprived of my usual all-access, 24/7 dried food buffet and this abhorrent and heinous deprivation has been going on for the last 2 weeks, 2 days, 4 hours, 32 mins and 15 seconds!" Fudge replied.

"Ahhhh, I think mew have a solid case let me transfer mew to the D.F.D.D. or Dried Food Deprivation Department," the Opurrator said politely. "One moment sir, while I put mew on hold and transfer your call."

"Thank mew," Fudge said, hearing a distinct click and then some rather relaxing mewsic. A few moments later, a recorded messaged said. "Purrleaase stay on the line, your call is furry impawtant to us, although mew have called at our peak time and are held in a queue." The mewsic kicked in again.

Five minutes later, another recorded message said, "We're sorry to inform mew all of our opurrators are now on their regulated catnap breaks and won't be back for at least an hour, purrlease stay on the line to keep your place in the queue and we'll answer your call as soon as we wake up, thank mew for your patience."

Guys, we'll have to continue the transcript next week, as he was still on hold 4 and a half hours later, OH DEAR!

**New Series** at BBHQ ~ Cat Hazards ~ The Art of Keeping Your Cat Safer ~ Top 12 Common Cut Flowers Toxic For Cats & To Avoid

Cat Hazards Banner ©BionicBasil®

  Happy Chewsday supurr pals

Welcome to Cat Hazards ~ A Brand New Series at BBHQ

Today we're sharing Part Three our new series, and we're carrying from our last post in which we discussed what house plants to avoid.

If mew're new to being cat staff, then maybe there are a few things mew haven't thought about, and we're here to point mew in the right direction so mew can learn what's safe and what's not. And for those seasoned and veteran cat staff, do feel free to add more suggestions in the comments as...

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

...and helps avoid and avert all kinds of disasters.

Lets Talk About Cut Flowers or Bouquets

Let's take a look at our Top 12 Common Cut Flowers Toxic For Cats list of what mew really don't want in your bouquet or cut flower arrangement.

Top 12 Common Cut Flowers Toxic For Cats & To Avoid ©BionicBasil®
right-click the graphic to print it off and stick on your fridge or noticeboard

There are many more cut flowers that are not safe to have in your home, so we suggest mew do your homewurk and make informed decisions for the safety of your cat.

The P.A. refuses to have cut flowers in the house. In fact, she hates cut flowers and thinks all flowers should stay in the garden where she can look at them for months on end instead of a week or so. Though she does fully understand and appreciate for peeps who don't have a garden or outdoor space and who do like a riot of colour around their homes using cut flowers. Still, there are other ways to indulge in this scenario, purrlease see our top tip below.

Let's Talk Cut Flowers

If mew're a fan of the readily available bouquets at supermarkets or other retail stores, they're pretty much filled with the flowers or a combo of what we've mentioned above and generally are not safe to have around your kitty.

If mew go to a florist and custom order a bouquet, then mew can obviously choose safe flowers to have in your home.  However, don't go to your florist and expect them to know which flowers are cat safe and which are not; the chances of them knowing this info is slim unless the florist is actually cat pawrent themselves.

We despair when we see on social media that someone has a vase filled with the huge stargazer lilies, and their cat is sitting right next to it, just one nudge and that deadly pollen is on the cat's fur and the next thing the cat is having a bath, and then the next very thing is they're off the vet with a whole host of symptoms such as drooling, vomiting, lethargy, decreased appetite, urination issues and then purrhaps kidney failure. Or they share pictures of their cats with their noses stuck amongst the petals of say, tulips or daffs, like WHAT THE FLUFF PEEPS!

KEEP CATS AWAY FROM FLOWERS

Unless they're on the safe list, and we'll be sharing our Top 12 Safe Flowers For Cats next time, so mew can build up a knowledge base of what's hot and what definitely is not in the kitty kouture flower wurld.

Just remember your cat doesn't know that they are poisonous, Fluffy doesn't have a degree in botany, and as we said in our last post, it's always a great idea have some fresh cat grass indoors for them to nibble on should they fancy getting their daily greens intake up.

>^.^<

Top Tip Banner ©BionicBasil®

We know not everypawdy lives with access to a garden or outdoor space and therefore love to have flowers in their homes, and we totally understand the need for colour and nature in our daily lives. Though this could prove supurr dangerous for Fluffy if he or she decides to become a flower fancier.

Our solution is not only practical, but it also saves money too, and mew get to have oodles of pretty flowers indoors.
Top 12 Common Cut Flowers Toxic For Cats & To Avoid BionicBasil® Faux Flower Bouquet

There are many companies who make excellent faux flowers, and we did mention one such company in our previous post - click link at top of post - we know it's probably not the vibe most flowers lovers want but what's more impawtant, the safety of your cat or a bunch of flowers that will be dead in a week or two, and could pawsibly be deadly to your cat as well?

Top 12 Common Cut Flowers Toxic For Cats & To Avoid BionicBasil® Dried Flower Bouquet

Mew can also purrchase dried flower arrangements, as they're back in vogue now after years of being seen as rather dated and old fashioned, or even make your own arrangement.

Some of the dried arrangements available to buy are absolutely gorgeous and as with faux flowers a little dust once a week or quick blow with the hairdryer to keep them clean and fresh is all they require, and they last for as long as mew want them too.

It doesn't take long to make your home a safe place, and mew'd do it for a baby/toddler/child, so do it for your cat too, and our K9 buddies of course.

Next time we'll cover our Top 12 Safe Flowers For Cats, and Fluffy can take a shine to them all he or she wants! MOL

If mew missed any of our previous Cat Hazards posts, stop by our Top Tips for Pawents page, and mew'll find a veritable info-fest of useful stuff and pointers to help mew safely navigate pet pawrenthood.

Until next time...

Colouring with Cats #104 ~ Getting Your OM’s on with Mandalas on Mondays ~ The Cactus Make-Over, What Do Mew Think To It Now?

Turquoise Mandalas on Mondays Banner 2020 ©BionicBasil® getting your Om's on and unleash Your Zen Harmonies

Supurr Monday greetings beautiful furiends

A few weeks ago we shared Melvyn and the Cactus scratch post, well if mew look at the picture in the post mew'll notice that the bottom is covered in a beige/brown shagpile fabric, anyhoo we were looking at it the other day and decided that we really didn't like it that much and needed to do something about it stat.

So we headed into the craft room and found some pom poms thinking that it might look quite funky and it did, but sadly we didn't have enough and so we went for option two, a nice verdant grass effect with some faux fur we had in stock and then we decided to change how the cacti were situated for a bit of variety too! MOL

What do mew think, is it improved or did mew like the beige shagpile more?

Mandalas on Monday ©BionicBasil® Colouring With Cats #104 Cactus Update

We would have really liked to do the pom poms but mew see those in pic 1, that's £33.00 worth and we'd probably need as many again to do it propurrly and we don't think £66.00 of poms poms is justifiable, that amount buys a lot of cat food and treats, and we know what we'd sooner have and it's not pom poms! MOL

Anyhoo, we do hope mew've all have a totally pawesome weekend, and that mew're ready for the week ahead, so let's jump right in and start as always with our little breathing exercise, which we're sure mew all have down paw by now...  but if mew've furgotten, stop what mew're doing for a moment and take deep fulfilling breaths; counting to five on the inhale and five on the exhale:

Breathe in
Breathe out

Breathe in
Breathe out

Breathe in
Breathe out

Smooch is here again to offur mew assistance in getting your OM's on and Zen Harmonies happening, so just press play, close your eyes and follow his instructions.

Don't mew feel better already?  I know we do!
