Furbulous Greetings Supurr Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, epic floofers, and let's begin with the weather report. It's remained cooler in the low 20s C, the sun has been out to shine, though the clouds have been more prevalent, and we've had a few nice rain interludes, still not enough but better than nothing. The wind has been gusting and has been relatively cool in the last couple of days too. The garden is slowly greening up again, although the flowers are in short supply.

So today, rather than flowers, we thought we'd share the BBHQ vegetable garden, and below are some of the chillis we've grown, don't they look spicy? MOL

Close-up of home-grown red chillies at BBHQ, showcasing vibrant green leaves, glossy ripe red chillies, and organic gardening efforts. Perfect for BionicBasil.com content on kitchen gardening, heirloom pepper varieties, and sustainable home produce.

The P.A. planted the chillis on into one of the raised beds in the veggie garden last week, and below is how the garden is looking now.

So here's a full picture of the organic vegetable garden at BBHQ, which features raised beds and pots loaded with onions, heirloom tomatoes, chilli peppers, sweet peppers, beetroot, peas, broadbeans, herbs (too many to list), leafy greens, broccoli and cabbage, plus more.

The gravel pathway was completed this year (finally! MOL) and the two arched trellises are used for the climbing beans, with four varieties of runner beans; let's hope they're not too stringy!

The mini greenhouse structure/covered raised bed standing against the brick wall is filled with salad greens, and the one further down on the right is still empty. There are still two open raised beds to plant up, and for one we've got some rhubarb coming from Nanny's garden, plus we may plant some blueberries and other stuff.

Right at the very end, there are seven different species of fruit trees, still in their infancy, so they won't start producing anything for another year or so. There's also an apple tree just as mew walk through the door on the left (out of shot) which was producing fabulously, but sadly, grubs attacked a lot of the apples, so we've cut those off and are hoping the remaining ones will be ok. We might even put small organza bags over them to protect them from further grub assault.

And the P.A. has bought some netting, with rods to place over the cabbage and other greens as the caterpillars decided to snack, mew might remember Smooch last week and his bazooka?

Pest control is difficult when chemicals are not used, and the P.A. won't have anything at BBHQ that might harm the bees, butterflies, birds or other wildlife. So we continue to try our best to grow as much as we can, but if things get eaten along the way, so it goes.

Also, the P.A. uses sacrificial plants like nasturtiums, especially in the bean pots, as black fly isn't pleasant and if we plant a few sacrificial plants, then the bugs tend to gravitate to those instead of the veg. We use marigolds too as a decoy, and they help no end.

And there mew have it, home grown at BBHQ, and still a work in progress!

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

First up in the news this week

Caturday Night Snacks with Parsley, Fudge, Melvyn and Smooch

Four BBHQ cats, Fudge the vibrant ginger with a huge tail, Parsley the sleek black domestic shorthair, Melvyn the playful tabby-and-white feline, and Smooch the white cat with distinctive black patches, lounging together on a natural-fibre woven rug in the kitchen have late night snacks/treats. Perfect for cat lifestyle blog visuals, indoor pet photography, cosy home décor inspiration from www.BionicBasil.com

Yep, when there's snacks and treats about, it's like a stampede in the kitchen! MOL

Guess who's the biggest hoover out of these four? Go on tell us who mew think it is...

 Pandora's Quality Control Checks

Pandora, BBHQ’s long-haired tortoiseshell cat, lounges on weathered wooden sleepers in front of a black wooden fence and brick garden wall. Her lush coat of black, brown, and orange fur and alert green eyes showcase outdoor feline elegance—ideal for pet lifestyle blogs, outdoor cat photography, garden-themed content at www.BionicBasil.com

Mew may remember a couple of weeks ago that Parsley was in charge of quality control. Now it seems that Pandora wants to assist too! MOL

Hopefully, paws crossed, and a lot of wishful hoping, Cat Dad is planning on finishing the deck over the August Bank Holiday, so here's hoping the weather is nice, otherwise it'll remain a pile of sleepers until fluff knows when! MOL

  1. Your garden rocks, and I did notice it's only the guys there for snack time. Don't you have any to share with the ladies?

Wonderful pictures and I do hope you get more rain, but never too much.

    1. Pandora doesn't eat treats, she never has, and Amber was sleeping, so her snack time is at another time!

  2. Woohoo! Caturday night snacks? We'd join that stampede for sure! Nice job on the QC, Pandora. We bet Cat Dad will do a great job with that deck. Amber's postcard made us giggle, and we loved that random sparkly photo of Fudge in the tree. Hugs!

  3. The raised beds are looking lovely, and plenty of home produced food. I am busy making tomato and basil soup. Our neighbour watered our tomatoes while we were away and we have a bumper crop. Fun card from Amber! Lovely photos of Pandora and Fudge.
I think Fudge may be the biggest hoover for the snacks.

  4. You've got a lovely garden and yard, and we appreciate that you are going au naturel to NOT harm any living thing.
Hard to tell which cat is the biggest piggie for treats, but I'll choose Fudge on a whim.
