And this week Melvyn stepped in, sorry, snuggled in and said, yep, my turn!!! MOL

Melvyn's Snuggle Cushion Selfie  


Melvyn, a tabby cat with dark brown and black markings and white fur on his face and body, is curled up comfortably on a round cushion decorated with bright pink flowers with white centres. Well, it cooled down yesterday, after two horrifically scorchio days ~ 39C Thursday and 33C Friday. The UV was so intense that it fried the edges of water lily pads in the pond, and the poor hydrangea suffered too... Its leaves crisping, even though it was well watered and put in the shade. 

So we're happier that it's back down to the mid-twenties now, and there's even rain forecast for tomorrow ~ we'll believe it when we see it ~  and the temperatures dropping to the low twenties going forward, which suits us fine! MOL

We'll be back in the morning with a supurr fun post, but it's a surprise for now.

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up **LOVELY LOBELIAS** ~ Kerfuffle in The Catservatory, Parsley's Rolling in Clover, and Fuzzy Focus Fudge ~ **PLUS** A New BBHQ Bunker!!! MOL

Supurr Floofy Greetings Pawesome Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Happy Wednesday, and thank mew so much for dropping by. Pull up a chair, get comfortable, and let’s dive into what’s been happening at BBHQ over the last few days.

The Weather Report

Well, what a week! It got hotter again, then cooled briefly on Caturday, then got hotter again on Sunday. Monday it cooled again just a smidge; Tuesday it warmed up again to 29 Celsius; today is supposed to be 33 Celsius, and tomorrow 37 Celsius.

What the fluff is going on? English summers are usually rainy, wet, more rain, a smidge of sunshine, a glimmer of heat for about 1 to 2 hours if we're lucky on any given day, and then that would have rainy showers in the 1 to 2 hour time slot too! MOL

It's been a relentless heatwave, and now we've got a bet running that this winter will be the coldest on record, and record snowfalls! 

Anyhoo, let's keep calm, keep cool and carry on!

This Week's Flower Offering

A tall stem of vivid red lobelia flowers rises from dark green foliage, each blossom shaped like a delicate star and glowing brightly in the sunlight. This lovely lobelia was part of the plant haul the P.A. got the other week, when she suddenly found her car pulled into the garden centre carpark by an invisible tractor beam; well, she said gravitational pull, and before she knew what had happened, her car boot was full of flowers. 

She still denies being complicit in this particular plant haul; she has no memory of using the credit card even though the charges are on the statement. She says she has no solid, tangible memory of the event until she was back on the country lane heading towards BBHQ.

Now, knowing the P.A. as we do, we know one of two things actually happened: the first being, her recollection is actually true, yep, weird stuff happens to her all the time, or she's just playing silly buggers to justify taking Parsely's credit card to meautify the BBHQ gardens - we're leaning towards the latter! (But we'll let her think that we think it's the former! MOL MOL)

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.

Kerfuffle in The Catservatory

MOL

Parsley's Rolling in Clover

Parsley found the one bit of lawn that doesn't look like scorched earth and weeds - this is under the trees near the back patio, just a sliver across the corner of what a lawn should look like and the only reason it's survived is that it's full of micro clover and in the shade.

The P.A. is still traumatised by the acute lawn failure, aka A.L.F. ~ she's not going to get over it any time soon... We're going to have a word with Cat Dad and see if maybe we can do something!

Fuzzy Focus Fudge

Today's Really Random Photo


We got a tiny upgrade to the bunker! MOL

We think he did a great job, and guess what? No planning permission was needed! MOL

Welcome to BBHQ on this delightful Sunday!

We drew straws this week to see who got to feature, and BBHQ's ginger ninja won, so he chose a throwback selfie from 2019! 

Fudge's Garden Stroll Selfie


An orange tabby cat named Fudge strolls confidently across a lush, sunlit lawn, his tail lifted and fur glowing warmly in the afternoon light. Behind him rises a dense border of tall foxgloves, their pink and purple bell‑shaped flowers forming a vibrant wall of colour that frames the garden. The scene captures a peaceful moment outdoors, with Fudge mid‑step as he explores the bright, blooming space for his Sunday Selfies feature.

As he wanted to share this one to remind the P.A. that the foxgloves were a literal forest back then... then something happened... the P.A. had an accident in 2019 and was literally fluffed for months, so she got a gardener in to help as she was unable at that time to do the garden as she normally would.

She specifically instructed the gardener not to cut the foxgloves in the photo, not to touch them, and not to go near them under any circumstances; they had finished flowering and were going to seed.

She went to her hospital appointment and came back, and the gardener had cut all the foxgloves off to the ground; yep, it was a foxglove slaughter.

We can't repeat what the P.A. said as we're furmily friendly, but she was livid... anyhoo, since then the foxglove population, sadly, has been quite sparse at BBHQ.

But she did find some seeds the other day in the potting shed; they've been there forever, but maybe, just maybe, they might be ok, and now she has a plan! MOL

It's been very warm again the last few days; the temperature did drop but then climbed again, but so it goes!

So later on this afternoon/early evening we're going snoopervise the P.A. in the garden while she does a bit of watering and stuff, but in the meantime we're going to stay indoors getting our fur ruffled with the fans! MOL
