Hello gorgeous library guests
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today and before we begin, can mew send oodles of healing purrs and prayers for Sammy at 15 and Meowing.
We're sending oodles of healing vibes and purrs to him.
Well, I must say I'm a bit annoyed at Basil for announcing Melvyn's promotion at the library. I'd been looking forward to announcing it today and it was taken away from me on Wednesday's post, anyhoo The B Team apologised and gave me a gift card for Amazon, so all is well in my world again.
Though seriously, I was delighted to promote Melvyn and give him some more responsibility, as he needs to know the library inside out as one day he will be the head librarian and in charge of the library mice plus all the day to day running of M.C.L. aka Mewton-Clawson Library.
Plus I presented Melvyn with my least favourite book in the library as a token gesture of his elevation in status and I even let him kiss my cheek, that's what a nice employer I am.
1. I have never been able to _________.
2. I _________ competition.
3. I _________ when spring has sprung.
4. I would like everyone to know _________.
The P.A.'s answers are...
1. I have never been able to knit or crochet. I did manage to cast on and do a few rows a couple years ago, but that's as far as my knitting prowess has gotten! LOL
2. I think healthy competition is good for keeping you motivated and focused.
3. I love seeing all the early flowers bloom when spring has sprung.
4. I would like everyone to know that my hair is so long it's just below my derriere. And no, it's not extensions, it is my own hair. It's never been this long before, I've worn it in a long plait for many years as I don't like wearing it loose. And right now I can't wait until my lovely hairdresser comes and cuts about 8" off the length.
Today, as it's the last Friyay of the month, we're also joining in the furrbulous...
This blooper of Smooch was from the 14th of May 2019, he couldn't decide if he wanted to be in the
haunted house or have his face smooshed in the
catnip Easter eggs, looks like the catnip eggs won! MOL
Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!
This week's top book pick is...
Mewton-Clawson Library Copy
Death at Wentwater Court
by
Carola Dunn
Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
This first installment of a cozy mystery series transports listeners back to the bygone era of 1923 Britain, where unflappable flapper and fledgling journalist Daisy Dalrymple daringly embarks on her first writing assignment, and promptly stumbles across a corpse.
No stranger to sprawling country estates, wealthy Daisy Dalrymple is breaking new ground in having scandalously traded silver spoon for pen and camera to cover a story for Town and Country magazine. But her planned interviews with the inhabitants of Wentwater Court give way to interrogation after suave Lord Stephen Astwick meets a dire fate on the tranquil skating pond.
Today I thought I'd mix things up a little and share a book with absolutely NO CATS WHATSOEVER!
I can hear all those sharp intakes of breath, and see the utterly shocked expressions, but fear not I haven't lost all my marbles yet, well maybe a few but not the whole bag!
Anyhoo, a long time ago while perusing Audible I came across this book, and I downloaded it as it seemed like my cup of tea, and finally last week I got around to listening to it and what a rip-roaring cozy mystery.
Set in the 1920s, my favourite era by the way; our leading lady Daisy is a thoroughly modern Miss coming from a titled family, so breaking tradition... well I suppose in those days it was literally smashing tradition for a titled young woman to get a job.
The plotting is excellent, the characters are fabulous, and the narrator really captures the essence of the times, which I know for some could be off-putting, but if mew like Hercule Poiret or Jeeves and Wooster for example, this is definitely one to try. Or mew could just read it if mew don't like audiobooks. I really enjoyed the narration, I felt it really brought the story and characters to life.
If mew're looking for a cozy mystery series with absolutely no cats whatsoever, I can't recommend this enough and there are 23 in the series to date, which for me is totally wonderful as mew know how much I like a long series.
But this is the best part, if mew have an audible membership mew can listen to the entire series for free as part of your membership, EPICALLY EPIC! (It is included in my subscription in the UK, whether it is in other countries I don't know but do check.)
I'm already on book three, that's how much I'm enjoying it, a really top paw cozy mystery series.

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.
It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't forget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.
Until next time...
Keep calm and read more books
