Hello gorgeous library guests
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today
Today at BBHQ we're waiting for a telephone engineer to fix the broadband connection which still isn't working. The phone line is still off even though they said it was fixed; seriously mew couldn't write it! MOL
It's almost a month without a connection, and we've been limping along, but hopefully today well yesterday by the time mew are reading this, we'll be back to FULL SPEED AHEAD, and will be able to start visiting all your pawesome blogs again.
It's been supurr frosty the last couple of days, so I'm spending my time in the sitting room where the woodburner is warming me to totally tropical levels.
The P.A. gave me a freshly washed blanky to snuggle on, don't mew just love freshly washed blanky's? They are one of my most favourite things after books of course! MOL
Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. I have a tough time choosing a gift for __________________________.
2. I can’t wait to see _______________ open the ______________ from me.
3. I’m dreaming of a _________Christmas.
4. If my holiday season were a book or movie, it would be titled _________.
The P.A.'s answers are...
1. I have a tough time choosing a gift for my hubby, so I usually just ask him what he'd like. It makes life so much easier.
2. I can’t wait to see my Mum open the gift from me. It's just something nice and simple that I know she wants.
3. I’m dreaming of a peaceful and safe Christmas for everyone in the world.
4. If my holiday season were a book or movie, it would be titled Not Much Going Off There Then! We don't do a lot at Christmas, my parents come for lunch and on Boxing Day a couple of friends come for another Christmassy lunch. We don't go out as we like our quiet time with the kitties watching movies and just relaxing.
Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!
This week's top book pick is...

Potions and Predicaments
A Paranormal Cozy Mystery
Charmed and Dangerous Book 1

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
When a competing shop opens in town, Kat knows she's in for some toil and trouble. The arrogant new girl Starla has it out for her and her mom’s more interested in her (lack of) love life. Things go from bad to worse when Kat finds her shop ransacked and rarest items stolen.
Oh, and one more thing: Starla turns up dead.
Suddenly the prime suspect in a murder investigation, will Kat and her magic be enough to clear her name? Or will she have to enlist the town’s most notorious (and handsome) informant to uncover the truth?
Joined by her bubbly best friend Pepper and her familiar Albus, she'll have to use every trick and tincture at her disposal. There’s a killer on the loose, and she might be next.

This book is from my Kindle Unlimited subscription and a new author to me. I must say that I'm quite enjoying my book subscription and have read a few more cozies which I'll be sharing soon.
What did I think about book one in this paranormal cozy mystery series? I really enjoyed it; it kicked off well with a nasty rival, a murder and a break-in to set the scene for the entire plot to unravel. Set in a small town with plenty of interesting characters, some of which are not of the magical vein but never the less still integral to the story.
The main witchy character Kat has a feline familiar called Albus and he is a fun dude. The characters are well-conceived and likeable, and they develop well as the book unfolds. There is a little hint of romance, which adds another dimension to the story although I must say it is done in a sweet and lighthearted way, so not all up in your face detracting from the main plot. I'm not a fan of schmaltzy romance! MOL
The plot rattles along at a good pace, with our witchy lead Kat taking the helm to solve the murder to clear her name with help from her friends. There are just enough dead ends to mew guessing until the final reveal is made, and the plot is wound up very neatly.
All in all a really TOP PAW read and I will definitely be reading the rest of the series which has another three books, so plenty to keep me going as mew know how much I like a series to get invested in.
