Hello gorgeous library guests

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and this is what I've been doing this week! MOL

Book Reviews with Amber #190 ©BionicBasil® Amber snuggling in front of the fire

Well, it has been a little fresh outside and I am an old lady cat who loves her warms. The P.A. has a couple of small washable rugs which she puts down in front of the hearth so I can get a bit closer to the heat and warm my arthritic bones a little.

Sometimes I sleep for hours, and the P.A. keeps coming to check on me to make sure I'm still breathing and alive, as she says that I'm so still when I snooze these days.

I meowed at her, "Well that's because I'm in a really, really, really deep sleep!"

Then added.

"Now fluff off, and stop waking me up!"

That sorted her out, now she just observes me from a distance to make sure I'm ok.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. A week without endless bad news in the News would be nice.

2. A week without my cats would be impossible.

3. I didn’t plan to have so many cats, but I’m glad I did.

4. I once moved a ladder, and lived to regret it. Who knew moving a ladder could be so perilous!

A Twist in the Tail

The Oyster Cove Guesthouse Book 1

by

Leighann Dobbs

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

‘Talk about inconvenient. Not only did I have a dilapidated mansion and no money to repair it, two uppity cats and some cranky guests waiting for breakfast, there was also a dead body in the stairwell.’

Josie Waters is the enthusiastic new owner of the Oyster Cove Guesthouse – a ramshackle Victorian mansion high on a hill above the breezy seaside town of Oyster Cove, Maine. Josie has a history in Oyster Cove, but she’s not going to let anyone – from her crazy friend Millie to her old flame Mike – stand in the way of making this venture a success.

But then Josie’s first guest – a stuffy food critic – is murdered before breakfast, and the town sheriff suspects Josie could be to blame.
Thank goodness Nero and Marlowe – the guesthouse’s resident cats – are also on the case. Little does Josie know, this isn’t their first investigation… but can they find the clues to the real killer before another guest is targeted?

Mew guys know how much I love Leighann Dobbs books, and only a couple of weeks ago I reviewed Whisker of a Doubt, Bk 6 in the Mystic Notch series. (I'll review Bk 7 next week, as I just finished it yesterday).

Earlier in the week, I decided to check out what else this very talented cozy mystery writer had written, and came across the Oyster Cove series, and of course I had to try it immediately.

A Twist in the Tail is book 1, there are three so far, though I'm not sure if there will be any more yet, but I'll keep checking for updates.

It's a thoroughly enjoyable cozy mystery, a purrfect plot recipe for a purrfect read; an excellent cast of characters, a nice twisty plot with plenty of suspects and a red herring or two thrown in, and two cute cats. One called Nero and the other Marlowe, who as in the Mystic Notch series do talk amongst themselves and the other cats within the community and then try to communicate their findings to their humans, though sometimes without much success.

I really enjoyed book one and have already begun book 2, with book 3 coming straight after that, so that's how much I'm enjoying them!

If mew love your cozy mysteries as much as I do, this one is a must, try it.

A TOP PAW READ!

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't forget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books
