Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #26 featuring The Cat, the Professor and the Poison

Welcome To

With Amber ~ The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Wunderpurr greetings fellow book lovers

I do hope mew've had a great week, mine was progressing well until I went to buy a new book from Audible and saw that I had no credits left.  Well mew can imagine my utter horror at this discovery.

Now mew see I'm on the 24 books a year package, which I probably eat through in the furst 2 - 3 months.  I wish they did a '52 A Year Book Package + Extra Credits' as this would be much more to my liking.  Anyhoo, so once I've used all my 24 credits, Audible allows me to buy another 3 credits fur £11.99 at a time. So that was fine until Monday evening when I thought, I really need something new to listen to, so I got my ipad out and found a book I wanted knowing already that I had used my last credit last week, but I thought oh it's no purroblem I'll just get 3 more credits - wrong!

It would appear that I have reached my maximum credit limit and there's no more until my subscription renews on the 12th of February.  Can mew imagine I have to wait 2 more weeks before I can get anything new - it's SHOCKING, A COMPLETE TRAVESTY in fact!

I feel sick... light headed... dizzy in fact... with palpitations... hot and cold sweats... the room is spinning...

What on earth am I going to do????

SHOCK!

DENIAL!

I raced into the kitchen and found the P.A.

"I can't get any new books!" I blurted. "And I can't buy anymore credits!"

The P.A. stared at me as she was dunking a double choc chip cookie in her coffee while sat at the kitchen island.  The coffee-sodden cookie broke and splashed into the cup.

"Oh flipping flip Amber, that's terrible!" she said using a teaspoon to fish out the soggy cookie.

I stared in horror as she ate the now really soggy cookie off the spoon and thought, she's really not taking this critical crisis seriously.

Taking a deep breath, I said as calmly as possible. "What are mew going to do about my desperate dilemma?" Then added. "This is a DEFCON 2 situation!"

The P.A. dunked another cookie and ate it before she replied. "Amber you have probably more books than anyone else I know, also you have your very own private library and I don't know of any other cats that have that facility, go find something to read among the stacks and don't forget there's more boxes of books in the shed that we still haven't unpacked yet, so don't tell me you haven't got anything to read." She sipped her coffee and then continued. "You have over 500 books on the kindle too, read one of those!"

That was so NOT the answer I wanted!

Then to add insult to injury the P.A. said whilst eating another cookie. "You should have managed your credits better!"

Jeez, what does a kitty have to around here to get some sympathy and some new books????

Anyhoo enough of my book buying issues, let's get stuck into this weeks book pick.

This week on book reviews with Amber, I'm sharing

The Cat, the Professor and the Poison

Cats in Trouble Mysteries Book II

by

Leann Sweeney

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb::

Between her kitty quilt-making business and her three beloved cats, Jill has her hands full. That doesn't stop her from wanting to solve the mystery of the milk cow that's gone missing from her friend's farm. But imagine her surprise when a stolen cow leads to the discovery of fifty stray cats and one dead body-a victim of cold-blooded murder.

Mew may remember that a while ago I reviewed the furst book in the series,

Click the link fur a quick recap if mew need it! MOL

Anyhoo I thought it was about time that I shared the second one with mew.  Quilter, Jillian Hart and her three kitties, Chablis, Syrah and Merlot are back in the midst of a new murder mystery, this book is equally as entertaining as the furst, if not more so because mew already love the characters!  It has endless plot twists and turns to keep mew listening right to the furry last wurd.  When I start one of these novels I usually listen to it in a day, let's just say I'm a binge listener and probably get through at least 6 novels a week.  It's true I am a book'a'holic! MOL

If mew enjoyed Book I, mew'll certainly enjoy this too.

Paperback copy:  275 pages

Sadly it's time fur me to say BFN or bye-fur-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and don't furget to stop by tomorrow fur Basil's Brain Training!

Happy reading or listening

  2. Poor Amber, I am sorry you can't get any new books for so long. Do you have a library card? I get lots of books that way. Great review, you find the best reads.

    1. Guys, no I don't have a library card, but I do have a library!!! MOL I'll go search google to see where the nearest library is... mew see the purroblem I have is that I live in teeny tiny village that has one pub and a telephone box [that doesn't even have a telephone in anymore], public transport comes though 3 times a week, so mew can imagine, there's not a lot around here apart from fields and livestock!   3. I'm so sorry Amber that your PA didn't even bother to see the going rate for her soul to get more credits :( I could always sort an account out for a special lady who clearly needs her books! <3 Just let me know. Think we'll have a look at these books, they sound like something a certain new crazy might enjoy ;

  5. Hi Amber. Thank Basil for me as he came to visit me this morning, which led me to you. Happy to meet you. Leading me to you also led me to that amazing site on AMazon. We never new about joining an audio book club. What fun that will be. M's been reading out loud to me, but she's been slacking off recently and said she just doesn't have time. No time - my paw~ She's just too lazy. So thank you for solving my problem. Now how can we get you more credits! I'll have to work on that one.

    2. Hi Mario, I will thank Basil and it's lovely to meet mew too! Oh mew should definitely get your mom to sign up to Audible, get an APP on your phone and listen to your books where effur mew are, it's the best thing since nip cookies, believe me when I say mew won't know how mew survived before mew got it! MOL Oh the credit issue is rather bothersome, but I'm just going to have to grin and bear it till the 12th.... ah well! purrs Amber xox

  8. Oh no! I'm so sorry that you ran out of credits on Audible, Amber. That is a tough situation. I would be depressed too. Audio books are great. I love to have things like that playing in the background while I'm editing photos and things. It looks like you found a good book to read despite it not being an audio book. :)

    1. Hi Manna & Dexter, it's a really tough situation. There's nothing better than listening to a book in the background, at least I have 250 to go at! MOL purrs Amber xox

  10. I'm so sorry, Amber ... but I had to laugh at the entire cookie dipping/eating part ... "P.A. said whilst eating another cookie..." Clearly, the PA has no sense of priorities. Perhaps she might renew at a better plan so you never run out? I can't help but snicker at the similarity between your "I have nothing to read," and a meme I saw with a cat in front of an overflowing basket of toys with the caption, "You threw away the milk ring! Now I have NOTHING to play with!!!" You are so beautiful Amber, that I can't imagine anyone (including the stupid Amoron) refusing you!

    1. Hi Momma Kat & Bear, thank mew so much fur your sympathies and I'm so glad mew can see how that the P.A. has NO sense of priorities, damn those cookies! Purrs Amber xox

  11. Well gawjus Amber, we have no idea ;bout your dilemma. Seems to us dat anypawdy tryin' to make money wouldn't cut you off. Dat would be counterpurrductive??. But since we don't really read, we can't speak to this really. We are glad you were able to find somethin' to read. Big hugs to all.

    Luv ya'

  12. It's horrible when you want to read a book and don't have one! Or at least, don't have the one you want! What's wrong with those audible people?

    2. It's beautiful! I am a Frodo, Amarula and Zulu's mom is a freelance writer and would give her left arm for a great library like that! I am sure you make good use of it!!

    3. PPS there is also so much wonderful light! Is it natural sunlight - do you have lots of windows?

      Delete
    4. Oh tell your mom she can come visit anytime! MOL And yes I do make good use of it, some of the books I've collected are really old, like from the 1800's, I just love books and the P.A. does too, she also writes children's novels for the 8 - 12 age group :D

      Delete
    5. It's natural light, as the library is on the sunny side of the courtyard, so in the summer it's really lovely in there with the door open and the sunlight spilling in through the windows... blissful is what it is :)

  14. Oh NO! I had to pinch myself to make sure you weren't having a nightmare. Mouses! Eww to the soggy cookies, gross in fact. Surely it would have been better to have dropped in another couple and made it into a chocolate chip hot coffee smoothie? purrs ERin

    Replies
    1. HI Erin, just pinch yourself again to doubly make sure that this still isn't some dreadful alternate reality nightmare-thing!!!! Oh the P.A. just didn't care a smidge, I should have confiscated her cookies and told her she's got to wait 2 more weeks before she can have anymore!!! MOL purrs Amber xox

  15. If you took her cookies away, Amber...eventually your PA might even thank mew, MOL!!!

Anypaws it is withdrawal fur you...but now maybe some books near the top of your long requested and gotten ladder might be hiding?? Awaiting your diligent perusal?
