WHAT'S IN THE BOX? on In The Spotlight ~ Product Review featuring Y-Cam Pet Friendly Alarm System

Welcome to

Wunderpurr greetings fabulous furriends

Today we're sharing one of our *sponsored posts with mew from the fabulous peeps at...

...who asked us late last year if we'd like to try their new Pet Friendly Alarm, which we thought was a totally stellar idea and that we could set it up in the new catservatory.

Though as many of mew know we had a little roofing issue in there with one of the roofing panels, so it has kind of delayed all of our sponsored posts by a few weeks, but the good new is, we got it installed and have been road-testing it for about 6 weeks now.

So let's show mew what was in the box.

Installation:

Installation was a breeze and went just like this...

open box

download free smart phone app* and open account

...*there are in app purrchases fur enhanced security features, though we've only tried the free version so far, which does send alerts to your phone if the alarm triggered...

connect hub id number to app

connect sensors by id number to app

position sensors

test drive

Putting it together and sticking the sensors inside the catservatory took less than 5 minutes.

We tried it in the location above furst, but then decided it got better coverage at the other end of the catservatory, so we simply took it down and re-stuck it into the final position below, yes it's really that easy!

Unboxing effurything and taking pics took more time than the installation, that's how simple it was.

A little bit of manufacturer info:

Triple Layer Security System for the Smart Home

  • NEW Alexa Controlled Protect Skill -The Y-cam Protect Skill allows you to control your Y-cam Protect alarm system using the intelligent personal voice assistant Alexa. The Y-cam Protect Alarm intelligently knows you have not set a PIN, it will ask you to select a 4 Digit Number and then ask for this each time you which to disarm using Alexa voice control commands.

  • NEW Phone Call and SMS alarm trigger alerts –When the alarm is triggered you will instantly get a phone call informing you of your alarm trigger and alerting you to which sensor has triggered the alarm. If you have a camera you can instantly visually verify what is going on before taking the appropriate action. The video link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kk5Dsg5vMkw

  • NEW Cameras record on alarm trigger –Protect can work seamlessly with Y-cam’s cameras. When the Protect alarm is triggered, the Y-cam camera* will automatically start recording.

  • NEW Sensor override + sensor override indicator – this allows you to set the alarm if a sensor is faulty or out of battery. The indicator will tell you through the app which sensor is the cause of the issue.

  • New Disable individual sensor – you can now set the alarm by disabling a sensor. An example of this is if you want to keep a top window open to allow heat out then you can disable this particular sensor and then still be able to set the rest of the alarm

  • NEW Customisable home mode – this in effect is the ability to create a zone. It means you can select which sensor are armed when you select home mode. This means you can set a zone up for example when you go to sleep you can deselect any upstairs sensors and then arm everything downstairs.

  • NEW Signal strength indicator – this is an indicator on the app showing you how strong the data signal is and which carrier is being use

NEW Protect Accessory - Pet Friendly Motion Sensor – this is a motion sensor with a 100 degree field of view and tamper switch. The advantage of this is that it allows your pets to roam freely round your home while the Protect alarm is activated.
You can add as many sensors as you need. Just £34.99

Our closing thoughts

We love this system, mew can either use your supplied remote to activate and de-activate the alarm or the app on your smart phone.

It is indeed a pet friendly system, as we bounce all over the catservatory all day and night and we've not have one false alarm while its been activated.

The ease of installation was also a plus and furry easy, and mew can buy more sensors or camera's or door sensors and keep adding to the system via the app, which we think is a pawesome idea.

We think this is a fantastic bit of kit, easy to install and does exactly what it says on the box.

So if mew're looking fur a system upgrade or a new installation fur your home this is purrfect!

We would like to say a special thanks to the pawesome peeps at Y-Cam fur giving us the oppurtunity to try out their amazing pet friendly alarm ~ THANK MEW FURRY MUCH!

  1. That looks interesting. I like how you are able to turn off some areas but still have the alarm working in others. Plus of course, it's good that it's pet friendly.

    1. Hi Pipo, no it's not that complicated I purromise! If the P.A. can set it up, anyone can MOL! Oh there is a sepurrate remote, so having a smart phone isn't a necessity, it just means that when mew're away from home if the alarm is breached mew get a notification on your phone, it's just an added extra.
