Hello meautiful library guests

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today. And OH MY COD! I can't believe that happened!!!

I must apologise for the P.A. not posting my book review last week. Seriously I can't catch my breath about it. Not only did she have the nerve to go away, but the bigger issue, she claimed, was the intermittent wifi where she was staying.

Amber's Book Reviews #286 ©BionicBasil® Amber Can't Believe That Happened

Let me tell mew, I have severely roasted her since she returned and have made her sign a new contract that clearly states failure to post for me on time will result in copious amounts of Amazon Gift Cards and Audible Credits to a value I can't disclose on the blog. But just know it's up there and will provide me with several more stacks for the library.

And the moral of the story is, don't not post for Head Librarian! MOL

Also, on another note, those of mew who are using Blogger, have mew noticed some new changes in the last few weeks such as:

Photo resizing issues

Placing links into text issues

Changing the colour of the link text issues

It's a bit weird, so if the text links in today's post are different colours, that's because Blogger won't let me change them, and I can't find any info to sort these new issues!

Anyhoo, what books have mew been reading this week?

Apart from this week's top pick, I've also reread (R.R.) since my last review:

Fool Moon by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 2 - (R.R.)

Grave Peril by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 3 - (R.R.)

Summer Knight by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 4 - (R.R.)

Death Masks by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 5 - (R.R.)

Blood Rites by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 6 - (R.R.)

Yep, it's been a bit of Dresden-Fest! MOL

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. ______________ is a quality of mine that I am proud of.
2. ___________________ is a quality of mine I would like to change.
3. Though I find _________ boring, _________ really interests me.
4. Believe it or not, I deal with _________ on a regular basis.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. Cat writing/books is a quality of mine that I am proud of.

2. Non-cat writing/books is a quality of mine I would like to change. I would like to do more; however, some days, I just feel too tired or uninspired.

3. Though I find mainstream TV boring, some documentaries really interest me.

4. Believe it or not, I deal with _______ on a regular basis. I have no clue what to write here, other than I deal with lots of cats with immensely different personalities on a highly regular basis! LOL

Final Catcall

A Magical Cats Mystery Book 5

Sofie Kelly

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Small-town librarian Kathleen Paulson gets plenty of entertainment from her extraordinary cats, Owen and Hercules. With her sort-of boyfriend Marcus calling it quits and her ex-boyfriend Andrew showing up out of the blue, Kathleen has more than enough drama to deal with, and that's before a local theatre festival relocates to Mayville Heights. Now the town is buzzing with theatre folk and many of them have their own private dramas with the director.

A couple of months ago I rediscovered this pawesome series, and I'm now on a mission to review the entire Magical Cats Mystery series before the end of the year.

Here are my previous reviews:

Final Catcall by Sofie Kelly is the fifth delightful and immersive addition to the Magical Cats Mystery series. Set in the picturesque town of Mayville Heights, the book follows librarian Kathleen Paulson as she finds herself embroiled in a web of drama and mystery. With her beloved magical cats, Owen and Hercules, at her side, Kathleen faces romantic upheaval as her sort-of boyfriend Marcus ends their relationship, while her ex-boyfriend Andrew makes a surprising return. Against this personal backdrop, the town becomes abuzz with the arrival of a local theatre festival, bringing a host of colourful characters and their accompanying dramas to Mayville Heights. As the festival unfolds, tensions rise, and the director is found shot to death by the marina, leaving behind evidence of fraud and blackmail. Suddenly, the quaint town is rife with suspicion and resentment, and Kathleen finds herself at the centre of the unfolding events. Sofie Kelly masterfully builds the narrative with intricate layers of intrigue, crafting a compelling storyline that keeps mew eagerly turning the pages. The author's attention to detail brings Mayville Heights to life, and mew will find yourselves absorbed in the charming setting and the diverse personalities that populate the town. Through skilful storytelling, the plot seamlessly intertwines the personal lives of the characters with the central mystery, creating a rich tapestry of relationships, secrets, and unexpected twists. Final Catcall is a captivating and engrossing cozy cat mystery that will transport mew into a world filled with feline charm, small-town allure, and riveting suspense as the latest crime is solved.

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't forget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

  1. I like documentaries too but it is hard to find one I haven't seen yet.

  2. The Harry Dresden series!
Fabulous stories, great writing, and some of us are waiting very, VERY impatiently for the next book in the series; the aftermath of the devastation of Chicago by magical beings.

  3. Some documentaries are truly interesting! Most TV isn't just boring, its not even worth the power to have them on! Blah!

  4. Amber, that sounds like a good story from a great series! We were sad to miss you last week, but we're glad the PA got to go on an enjoyable trip!

  5. Dear Ms. Librarian, please remember everyone needs some time off or vacation time at some point, or you burn out. By the way, that's a very flattering photo of you.

It might be best if the PA schedules in advance, however, instead of springing it on you suddenly.

Unless it's somehow educational, I'm not much for TV, either.

The book sounds great, if only I didn't work I'd have time to get to more of them.

Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!

  6. That's an adorable photo sweet Amber! Good fill-in answers from the P.A. too. You did a wonderful review and that does sound like a good book! Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  7. Amber, I am glad the PA will have to make up for the lost post last week with more books for you. Looks like you got a lot of reading done. That looks like an interesting book. Thank you to the PA for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. XO

  8. That sounds like another great book, Amber. I am getting those problems with Blogger too. It is very annoying and I hope it is a glitch and they will sort it out.

  9. We love Sofie Kelly's books! Amber, you sure keep your mom on her toes! I love your contract :) Pawsome idea!
