Hello meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and this week, I've been snoozing in the catservatory as it started to warm up a little.

Plus Pandora has taken a liking to my favourite snooze spot on the sofa, so I had to exert a little authority on whose sofa it really is! MOL

Look, I don't mind sharing my sofa, but there's a limit to how long others can use it, and as I'm the oldest, I get to call the shots.

Anyhoo, what books have mew been reading this week?

Apart from this week's top pick, I've also reread these:

Curiosity Thrilled The Cat by Sofie Kelly - Magical Cats Mystery Bk 1

Copy Cat Killing by Sofie Kelly - Magical Cats Mystery Bk 3

Cat Trick by Sofie Kelly - Magical Cats Mystery Bk 4

Strange Angels by Lili St Crow Bk 1

I did get quite carried away by Hercules and Owens' adventures in the Magical Cats Mystery series, and I'll definitely be reviewing Books Three and Four in the coming weeks. Strange Angels is a Young Adult series that I read years ago, and the other day when I was looking for a genre I haven't read in a while, I remembered this series. There are five in total, and it's a really enjoyable read if mew like the supernatural vibe.

I think it's nice to reread or revisit a book, and I've just put The Lord of The Rings trilogy and The Hobbit, plus the others in the LOTR world, on my to-reread pile as it's been a very long time since I had those books in my mittens.

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. I ____________ but not ________________.
2. Just because I __________ doesn’t mean ___________________.
3. Am I the only one who _________?
4. I used to _________, but then I learned _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. I used to be able to sit in front of the computer working for hours and hours and hours, but not anymore. I have the attention span of Melvyn, which is not great when there are many tasks to complete.

2. Just because I have a lot of cats, doesn’t mean I'm crazy!

3. Am I the only one who really doesn't like leaving the home since the lockdowns of 2020?  I've always been moderately reclusive, but now it's a whole new level! LOL

4. I used to try and do everything myself, but then I learned many hands make light work!

Sleight of Paw

A Magical Cats Mystery Book 2

by

Sofie Kelly

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Kathleen never wanted to be the crazy cat lady. But when Owen and Hercules followed her home from mysterious Wisteria Manor, she realized her mind wasn’t playing tricks on her—her cats have magical abilities.

When the body of elderly Agatha Shepherd is found near Kath's favourite local café, she knows Owen's talent for turning invisible and Hercules's ability to walk through walls will give the felines access to clues Kath couldn't get without arousing suspicion

Last week, I reviewed Book 10 of the Magical Cats Mystery series. I previously reviewed Book One, which mew can read by clicking here. As I said last week, I thought I'd done reviews for Books Two and Three, but no, so this week, I decided to revisit the series and share Book Two today.

Book Two, aka Sleight of Paw by Sofie Kelly, is a charming, cozy cat mystery novel that follows straight on from Book One. After reading Book Ten last week, I had to revisit the series from the beginning so I could share the second instalment today. It follows small-town librarian Kathleen Paulson and her two extraordinary feline friends, Owen and Hercules.
The story begins when the body of a local do-gooder, Agatha Shepherd, is found near Kathleen's favourite local café. Kathleen is determined to find out who is responsible for Agatha's death, and her cats are more than willing to help. Owen has a talent for turning invisible, while Hercules can walk through walls, giving the felines access to clues that would be impossible for Kathleen to discover on her own. As Kathleen and her furry companions begin to investigate, they uncover some dark and unsettling secrets about the town and its residents. There are multiple suspects, each with their own motives for wanting Agatha dead. The mystery deepens as our heroine tries to put the pieces of the puzzle together and catch the killer before they strike again. One of the things that makes this such an enjoyable read is the way the author weaves magic into the story. The cats' abilities add an element of fun and whimsy to the mystery which I adore as they are such cute and clever characters. Additionally, the human characters are well-developed and relatable and continue to develop, making it so easy to get invested in their story. Seriously, I had to stop myself from heading straight into Book Five the minute I'd finished Book Four! MOL Sleight of Paw is a well-crafted and very engaging mystery novel that will keep mew guessing until the very end. Whether mew're a fan of cats, magic, or just love a good whodunit, this book is definitely worth checking out.

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't forget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

  1. Indeed, you do need to set limits, as others will take advantage if you let them and it is your sofa spot.

Working in a team gets it all done much faster, doesn't it.

That's a great review, yes, sometimes rereading is the best reading, and thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!

  6. Wish Owen and Hercules were real; what fun they'd be!
    Amber, you are a doll.
I like leaving home once in awhile; it's the people that I avoid.
