Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Well, can mew believe we're a week away from the main event? The Catmas Trees still aren't decorated, they're up - mew will see in Melvyn's videos further down the post - but the Catmas Tree skirts the P.A. had, we're not cutting the mustard this year, so she ordered two new ones, and they only arrived on Monday evening. 

Hopefully by the time mew read this on Wednesday they will be decorated, well that's the plan. But in the meantime, here's a picture of a previous Catmas Tree from 2016.

It was so pretty, and I Basil, took great delight in climbing it, but that's another story! MOL

 Smooch and Parsley Enjoying An Amble In The Courtyard

Smooch and Parsley we're bipping about the courtyard checking out what's been happening, as the other night a little tuxedo kitty was in the garden eating some of the crunchies that the P.A. leaves out to feed any passers-by who happen in the garden at BBHQ.

The little cat didn't have a collar on, so we are wondering if he or she has been dumped because all of the village cats wear collars except for one black one called Morty.

Anyhoo, we'll keep mew posted and the P.A. will keep leaving the food out, just in case.

If it is a stray or a dumpee, don't worry; we'll take care of the situation and make sure the kitty is well looked after.

EXTRA EXTRA!!!

Melvyn's Lord of The Pets Pawtrait

A few weeks ago, the pawesome peeps from Lord of The Pets contacted us, asking if we'd like a pawtrait in exchange for a review**. Well, how could we refuse an offer like that! 

The problem we had (not a problem really, see below! MOL) was which B Team memfur was getting his or her furry chops on said pawtrait, and then problem number two, which furbulous pawtrait theme to choose. As let me tell mew, they have the BEST selection ever, seriously EVER! 

Overcoming problem number one 

We put everypawdy's name in a hat, and Cat Dad picked the name, and Melvyn won! MOL

Overcoming problem number two, which theme to pick?

The themes available are, for want of a better phrase, just fluffing brilliant, and we had such a hard time choosing, but then BBHQ's resident Supurr Meowdel stepped up, he said, and I quote.

"Dude, I want a Game of Thrones vibe happening!"

Well, mew can't argue with that, so this is what we chose:

**THE PURRMINATOR** **A BRAND NEW B TEAM ADVENTURE FOR 2024** **CHAPTER SEVEN**

The Purrminator is an action-packed experience that takes mew on a journey through a world of perilous danger with oodles of excitement, though sometimes in a scary way. With depictions of nightmare and spine-tingling encounters, the story draws mew in, making mew feel as though mew are right there with young Melvyn, fighting for survival as he's relentlessly hunted by the evil cyborg machines, known as Purrminators, as he tries to find his Great Uncle Basil through time and space. Not Again!

            “Yeah,” Vera replied. “That’s not going to work for us.”

Melvyn was crouching behind the main console, peeking up at the monitors, watching the cats outside.

“Whether or not it works for you is none of my concern,” the brawny Maine Coon growled. “But the kitten IS MY CONCERN!”

Melvyn could see four huge Maine Coon cats, two jet black, one silver and one pure white on the screen, and he gulped.

Astrid sidled up to him and crouched down. “Do you know these cats?” she asked quietly.

He shook his head.

“Vera,” Astrid said. “I can bip us to another timeline. Is that what you want?”

“Hush, Astrid, I’ve just connected to the mainframe, and I’m just scanning the bunker,” Vera replied. “Five more of them are chasing through the bunker hunting a Purrminator on Level Two.”

“Open the door and give us the kitten!” The cat commando demanded as he thumped the T.T.T.B. door.

“Can I ask you a question?” Vera said, activating the external comms channel again.

“Sure.”

She was just about to speak when the ground began to tremble and shake.

“What’s happening?” Melvyn quivered in fright.

The monitor screens went black, flickered several times and came back online.

“An interdimensional rift has just opened about half a click away,” Astrid said.

Melvyn curled up into a ball. “NO! NO! NO! Not again!”

Vera, who was still clutched tightly in his paw, asked. “Melvyn, what do you mean, not again?”

Astrid put a paw on his shoulder and gently helped him sit up, but his expression said it all.

“Oh fluff!” Astrid mumbled.

“What?” Vera demanded.

“This looks so bad,” Astrid said as she stood up and checked the monitor. “The commando cats have gone too.”

“Scan the entire village,” Vera ordered. “And get ready to get us the fluff out of here.”

“On it,” Astrid said as she waved a paw in the air in a rather complicated pattern.

“Anything yet?” Vera asked.

“Er… yep!” Astrid replied. “There’s a posse of extremely fugly looking dudes in billowing red robes marching towards the BBHQ driveway along Main Street, and they don’t look happy.”

“Melvyn,” Vera asked gently. “What do you mean not again?”

The kittens’ eyes were wide with terror as he said. “Those are the ones who’ve been chasing me from timeline to timeline. They are the ones who my father warned me of. They want my powers, and I’ve only just managed to stay ahead of them by a whisker, and now they’re here!”

“Ah,” Astrid sucked in a breath, and it whistled as she exhaled. “You came here looking for Commander Basil, right?”

Melvyn nodded.

“He and the rest of The B Team left this world just over a decade ago to explore the universe in another more powerful, upgraded version of this original T.T.T.B.,” Astrid said. “They left Vera and me here just in case they required a backup and needed to return, plus they wanted us to look after the bunker and this T.T.T.B., but we must have accidentally gone into hibernation, and your unexpected appearance woke Vera up, and then me after.”

Vera sighed. “Oh, I miss those guys so much.”

“Can you get in touch with them?” Melvyn choked the words out.

The silence said it all before Vera said. “Sadly not, young Melvyn.”

Astrid was staring at the monitors. “Vera,” she whispered.

“What?”

“I think you should look at this,” Astrid gasped.

Melvyn looked at the screens, all showing various viewpoints around BBHQ, and Vera hissed.

The cat commandos had opened fire on the fuglies in red robes. The fuglies in red robes were fighting back with magic, and the remaining Purrminator, who was missing a limb, emerged from the bunker entrance, eyes glowing a menacing red as it ambushed one cat commando who was crouched behind the summer house debris and offering covering fire for the rest of his squad.

He fell to the side, rolled out of the robot’s clutches, lifted the blaster gun and opened fire at point-blank range as the Purrminator reared up, intending to stab the soldier dead-centre in the chest with its razor-sharp claws.

Melvyn put a paw over his eyes and peeked through the fluffy tendrils which covered his little, pink paw pads.   

Astrid was transfixed as she watched the burly ginger cat activate a laser sword and start to hack the robot’s head off as its gleaming silver jaws snapped ferociously. “Wow!” she murmured in awe. “That’ll do it!”  

Several brutal hacks and slashes later, the robots head was hanging off, one eye dimmed, and the Purrminator toppled to the side; the soldier jumped up and pushed his blaster into the remaining red glowing eye and pulled the trigger several times until the eye dimmed and winked out completely. And just for good measure, he kicked it rather viciously half a dozen times with his rather brutal stomping boots, just to make sure it wasn't going to reanimate. He'd obviously encountered these killing machines before.

“Jumping juniper berries,” Vera breathed. “Perhaps those commandos aren’t the bad guys after all.”

“I’ll tell you something, Vera,” Astrid replied. “Commander Basil would be well impressed with those dudes.”

“Oh, for sure!” Vera answered. “So much so, he’d be asking them to join The B Team.”

“This is like the best TV ever,” Astrid trilled enthusiastically. “We haven’t had this much excitement since the Abalonian Argworts invaded in twenty-twenty-five!”

Melvyn was staring at the battle raging outside. The fuglies were retreating back along the drive, as three of their posse lay motionless in the debris.”

The commando leader signalled with his paw for his squad to keep the pressure on as they expertly manoeuvred through the debris-ridden garden, driving the red robed fuglies back towards Main Street with a ceaseless barrage of blaster fire, not giving the magic wielders a chance to retaliate.

Melvyn wheeled to Astrid and asked. “What year is this?”

“Let me just check,” Astrid said before saying a second later. “It’s twenty-fifty-two.”

“WHAT?” he blurted, eyes wide in disbelief. “I thought I was in twenty-twenty-three!”

“No, young Pawda Wan, it’s definitely twenty-fifty-two.” Vera concurred.

“OH MY COD!” Melvyn cried. “How the fluff am I going to find Uncle Basil now?”

Guys, mew know how we roll; so many apologies once again to cut it right there, but we will say, mew'll never guess what happens next - sorry to be a supurr dreadful tease! MOL

Pawesome Greetings Furbulous Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

Well, we had a rather blustery, gusty weekend and then a brief sunspot on Monday, with an overcast dull Tuesday. But at least it's not raining!

We have plans to put up a Catmas Tree this week, although the P.A. is so stretched for time right now, but as we said, it's ok we can help. Which she promptly declined. For the life us we can't imagine why she wouldn't want expert help from us when all those lovely, shiny, twinkly things are about! MOL

She said, and I quote, "Dudes, you have your own tree!"

See the evidence below.

Ah, indeed we do, and if mew'd like to see how the P.A. made it, we'll be sharing it on Monday. 

In the meantime, this tree will be getting a lot of attention, as demonstrated by Fudge the Heathen! MOL

Anyhoo, let's look at this week's news.

First up in the news

 Blanket Wars on The Windowsill

This is Parsley's afternoon catnapping spot, and there he was, just enjoying a lovely snooze when Fudge appeared and crammed his floof between Parsley and the plant.

As mew can see, Parsley was not giving up any ground at all, even though it completely ruined his zen vibes! 

This is so typical of Fudge! MOL

Smooch Enjoying a Sheltered Sunspot

We had a couple hours of weak sunshine on Monday, and Smooch got in the courtyard and found this sheltered sunspot, which he took full advantage of, as Vitamin D is supurr furry impawtant! MOL

If mew read last week's news, mew'll know that Pandora was NOT a happy camper.
