Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and oh my goodness, I can't believe it's Friday so soon. I barely put last weeks book back on the shelf, and I'm here writing this weeks post! MOL

Is it me, or does time appear to speed up the older mew get?  Because right now it's like I'm on a nitrous boost, anyhoo enough of my weird time paradoxical issues, let me tell mew what's been happening this week.

It was the last Pet Parade for us on Wednesday after 8 years, so we may be having a little shuffle about on the blog in the coming weeks as we decide where to put posts, and I may be moving back to the Wednesday slot. I have written a request to The BBHQ Blog Committee, and it will have to go to a vote next week, though I might be able to pull some strings to get my own way.

I really enjoyed the Wednesday gig for many years, and it'd be nice to try it again, although I wouldn't be part of the Friday Fill-ins anymore and I really enjoy that, so there's lots to think about.

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. I have given up _________.

2. On St. Patrick's Day, I _________.

3. I get cranky when _________.

4. _________ is my good luck charm.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. I have given up; in all honesty, I can't think of anything I've given up recently only the same as everyone else during the covid situation, so if we're talking about that, I've given up my freedom temporarily for the greater good. I go out once a week to work to do the necessities and then come home, I don't see anyone at work as I enter the building a different way, and I spend my time in my office and then leave.

2. On St. Patrick's Day, I wear green and green is such a great colour anyway. In fact, my old school uniform was dark green, trimmed with the same dark green, emerald green and red grosgrain ribbon and funnily enough, yesterday I found my school straw boater hat and my winter felt bowler hat. Ahhhhh the good old days when life was so uncomplicated, and the worst thing to have to worry about was not doing your homework or chores.

3. I get cranky when exposed to idiotic/stupid/ignorant/self-serving individuals who believe they have a superior mindset and are never wrong when you know for certain they are. Although I'd never knowingly show I'm cranky on the surface, I'd smile sweetly, but I'm really screaming inside! LOL

4. A silver four-leaf clover is my good luck charm, and I have several lucky crystals too.

Meowing for Murder

A Clever Cat Detective Series Novel Book 1

by
Sandra Baublitz

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

“Murder!” he meowed.
Elderly amateur sleuth Lillian Hardcastle and her clever cat, Saber, are visiting Lillian’s sister to help her after an accident. It’s what sisters do.

Lillian knew they’d argue like they always did. But murder?

She’s shocked to find a dead neighbor in the middle of her sister’s living room. Why did the woman break-in? And who killed her?

I was delighted to stumble upon this fun new cozy mystery series, mew know how much I like them! MOL  Anyhoo, it was only published last year and is the authors furst feline adventure, and I'm hoping it's not the last either.

The author has written many K9 cozy mystery's so while we're waiting for book two, purrhaps I may try one of those in the meantime.

I really liked the list of characters at the beginning of the book, so mew know exactly who's who before the start.

As a furst book, this rattles along at a nice pace, with plenty of diversions and distractions as mew would expect in a classic cozy mystery story. The characters are interesting, and the kitty Sabre is indeed a clever kitty.

This is a really purromising start to a new series, and if mew like your cozy's give it a whirl, I think mew'll really enjoy it and I eagerly await the second installment.

Welcome To

With me, Amber ~ The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Supurr salutations pawesome furriends

*waves paw*

Hello my beautiful furriends and how are mew on this fine, sunny morn?

Did mew know there's only one review week left until I take my summer break, OH MY COD!!!  And I still haven't packed my case, I was hoping to travel and visit all my supurr Crotchety Cougar buddies, but I'll have to wait until aftur Basil's Birthday pawty next Friday [1st June] because a Zombie Apocalypse wouldn't keep me away from that epically epic event! MOL

So if anyone would like me to visit them, do let me know!

And in response to Monday's post...

He said he was 'the bester OMMer' well I just topped that! MOL

And on that note I think it's time to share this weeks book!

This week I'm sharing

A Street Cat Named Bob

by

James Bowen

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

When James Bowen found an injured, ginger street cat curled up in the hallway of his sheltered accommodation, he had no idea just how much his life was about to change. James was living hand to mouth on the streets of London and the last thing he needed was a pet.

*    *    *
Now I read Bob's book when it furst came out, and fur the life of me I can't think why it's taken so long fur me to review it.  So the other day I thought mew know what, I'm going to listen to it, so I downloaded a copy from Audible and settled down in my library alone, as effuryone else is still banned aftur last week! MOL

Anyhoo, so there I was, just me, myself and I listening to Bob's story, with a pot of nip tea and cookies.

Now, this isn't a story fur effuryone, i.e: younger kids - NO, as it does deal with some of life's harsher realities of living in the modern wurld, on the streets, drug use and the recovery from the aforementioned.  So those of mew who are thinking it's all about Bob, it is and it isn't.

Bob is integral to the story as he's the pivotal character in helping James, his newly adopted hooman to get his life together and keep James moving forwards towards a much brighter future.  And in turn, James helps Bob to recover from his injuries inflicted while he was a street cat fending fur himself.

Bob like all us kitties, is a rather remarkable and a wholly unique feline, and he and James do have a rather special bond.  And I know what mew're thinking; we all do with our hoomans, yes and while that's true and I unequivocally agree with that statement, Bob is a much more intrepid than most felines, as he would go with James busking on the packed streets of London, selling The Big Issue, riding on buses, sitting on James's shoulder as they cycled through busy, traffic-filled streets, and I think that's what endears Bob to the public, because of his loyalty to his adopted Dad and his go anywhere and do anything attitude.

Basil was most impressed and asked if I knew him and if he wanted to join The B Team, I said. "No Basil, I don't purrsonally know Bob, but yes mew're right, he'd be a pawesome addition to our furry little band of heathens!" MOL

But I digress, A Street Cat Named Bob is a really touching and endearing story and gives mew an appreciation of the hooman/anipal bond at its finest.  Would I recommend this to mew, yes I would though I must say that reading the book and listening to it were furry different experiences, and if I had to choose my favourite format, I'd definitely listen to the audio version.

I'll sum up in one sentence:

Bob Rocks, and if mew haven't read this already, do give it a go as I'm sure mew'll love it as much as I did!

*    *    *

Oh and just before I pop off to go herd some sheep, yes mew heard me right, and it's all to do with next weeks review, which mew won't want to miss as it's my last before I take my summer vay-cay. I just wanted to say that Bob's peeps have made some pawesome cartoons, so do go check them out as they're adorable.

Welcome To

Supurr salutations pawesome furriends

*waves paw*

I've been getting ready fur my summer vay-cay and I'm so excited to have a couple of months off while I find some pawesome new books to share with mew in the Autumn/Fall.

Oh and this week the book I'm reviewing was sent all the way from America specially fur me to review, which I'm so excited about as it's a Joke Book written by Bernie the Cat, who is furry funny.

So let's dive in and take a look!

*    *    *

**Furstly I have to let mew all know that I was given a free copy of this book in exchange fur a fair review**

I think this is the furst propurr joke book I've reviewed and what a hoot it is!

So what did I think?

Bernie is really quite the comedian and I spent a whole afturnoon laughing my fur off while I was reclined in my library.  At one point I was laughing so hard I nearly spat my nip tea all offur Basil when he came into the library and asked, "Amber what on earth is going off in here?"

Taking a moment to compose myself, I eventually managed to say. "Oh Basil, mew just have to take a look at this!" As I offured him the book.

Basil was just helping himself to one of my home-baked nip cookies as he took Bernie's book from me and began to read. Chewing slowly on the nip cookie I could see his whiskers starting to tremble as he tried to chew and not laugh.  Seconds later I was covered in crumbs and had prise Bernie's book from his paws and escort him from the library fur being too noisy and spitting cookie crumbs at me. Yes my library has rules too! MOL

"I'll go get The B Team," he said laughing. "Make some more tea and get some extra cookies, we're going to have the best afturnoon effur!"

I promptly locked the door and returned to my chair. "Hmmmm this is my library, my tea and cookies and this is my book!" I mumbled as I settled down to read some more jokes. "Come on Bernie let's see what's next!"

Needless to say I was rather rudely interrupted a short while later when Basil began to knock on the door.

"Amber I know mew're in there!" he shouted. "Open the door and give us the book!"

"Basil I'm wurking, go away, me and Bernie are busy!" I laughed as I read about a computer mouse with teeth-marks. "Dudes mew can check the book out of the library later on, just bring your library card."

"What The Fluff!?" exclaimed Basil. "I don't need a library card, just give us the book... now!"

Needless to say a stand-off ensued... But now back to the book review...

Bernie, I love your joke book, it's EPIC!

And if mew, our amazing readers are looking fur something fun Bernie's got mew covered, there are so many different joke categories from, Dopey Dino's to Buggy Bugs and Crazy Cats.  In fact there are 26 cat-e-gories in total, so there's a joke fur effuryone I'm certain.

If mew want a lot of laughs, Bernie's Best Jokes is definitely fur mew!

Oh and the rest of The B Team are still banned from the library fur refusing to show their library cards upon admission - OOPS!
