Hello gorgeous library guests
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Thank you for joining me in the stacks today.
Well, my posh accent lasted about as long as a triple niptini! MOL Everypawdy at BBHQ said I sounded so fake and to STOP IT immediately as it just didn't suit me. So, I am now back to my normal un-posh accent and will continue in the strict vein of total authenticity to myself!
And then, if it wasn't bad enough being called fake, to spoil my mood even further, the P.A. tried to ambush me again for a spot clean, eye wipe and brush.
This was my response!
And fair play, the P.A. did concede; however, I'm expecting another ambush at any time. So I think I will go and hide in the library, under my desk with my new colour Kindle and get lost in another book, in the comfort of my heated bed! MOL
Anyhoo, let's look at this week's book.
Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. _______________________was the highlight of my ______________________.
2. A new book ( or movie or tv show) that I highly recommend is _______________________.
3. _________ makes me feel like a kid again.
4. If I had to sing karaoke right now, I’d choose the song _________.
The P.A.'s answers are...
1. Receiving a birthday card from The Cat Writers Association was the highlight of my Tuesday this week. How pawesomely lovely! It really made me smile, as my BD is not for another week or so. EPIC!
2. A new book ( or movie or tv show) that I highly recommend is Rise of The Draugr, book two in The Bane of The North series by A.C. Salter. I downloaded the audible version last week, and I have to say it's really good, just like the first book in the series. (But for Cod's sake, don't tell Amber I used one of her Audible credits! LOL)
3. Any crafting project makes me feel like a kid again. There's just something about making stuff, and I spent my childhood making, sewing, writing or creating whatever, so all those things have such happy memories.
4. If I had to sing karaoke right now, I’d choose the song _________. Sorry, but I will have to refrain from the karaoke stage, I've never done it, and I never will; it's just not my cup of tea! LOL
This week's top book pick is...
Mewton-Clawson Library Copy
by
K.E.O'Conner
Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
Welcome to the magical mystery of Crimson Cove. A spellbound town full of puzzles and twisty turns.
Feisty enchanted hedgehogs with eye-watering gas, a half-dragon with an attitude, and a headless corpse aren't the best things to start the day with!
But that's what we encounter in our first week working for animal control in Crimson Cove. We'd only come here to find a missing person but got more than we bargained for. As an enchanted cat, few things phase me, but even I wince when my wonderful witch, Zandra Crypt, finds a body missing its head.
If mew’re looking for a whimsical ride sprinkled with magic, mayhem, and a touch of mystery, then look no further than Every Witch Way but Ghouls. K.E. O’Conner has conjured up a delightful debut that pulls mew straight into the enchanting world of Crimson Cove, where the peculiar is the norm and adventures await at every turn.
From the very first page, we’re introduced to a pawesomely quirky cast of characters; the feisty enchanted hedgehogs, with their amusingly eye-watering gas, set the tone for the playful chaos which ensues. And who could forget the half-dragon with an attitude? This book delivers a blend of humour and charm that will leave mew chuckling as mew turn the pages.
As our protagonist, Juno—an enchanted cat with a huge secret— and her witch, Zandra Crypt, navigate their first week on the job with animal control, bedlam reigns supreme when they stumble upon a headless corpse. Talk about an unexpected way to kick off a new adventure. Mew can’t help but feel for Zandra, our wonderfully resourceful witch, as the situation escalates from a mere missing person case to a tangled web involving a dangerous gang of magical criminals.
The world-building is captivating, and the clever writing keeps mew engaged from start to finish. The intricate puzzles and the twisty turns kept me guessing 'who-done-it' until the very end. The underlying emotional subplot concerning Zandra's mother adds another facet to the story, making it more than just a typical mystery.
A blend of colourful characters, amusing humour, and a plot that flits between lightheartedness and suspense, this book is a spellbinding start to the series. Whether mew're a fan of cozy mysteries or just love a good magical adventure, this book is sure to charm and entertain. I can't wait to see what other fantastical escapades Zandra and her companions will embark on next! Grab your copy and prepare for a magical journey full of surprises! 🐾🔮✨
