Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today and as it's been bitterly cold this week, I thought that a nice Spring flashback was in order to cheer us all up and get us looking forward to the warmers days in a few weeks.

Book Reviews with Amber #188 ©BionicBasil® Amber's 2009 Flashback

This was taken on the 12th of May 2009, and the P.A. and dad had just put in a small pond for the frogs directly opposite where I'm looking. And this pretty garden has changed such a lot, I think where I am sitting is now the path to the summer house, between the old railway sleepers. Sadly those gorgeous blue and purple daisies didn't survive the winter.

It's amazing how some plants refuse to die and last for years, decades in fact and others sadly don't cut the mustard even for one short season.

The P.A. isn't really a fan of summer bedding plants and prefers perennials, anyhoo I'm looking forward to some warms, other than by the fire! MOL

1. I get my __________ from __________________.

2.  It’s a good thing ___________________________.

3. _________ required me to muster a lot of courage.

4. My younger self would be proud to know that I now _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. I get my mettle and unwavering stubbornness from my dad.

2.  It’s a good thing I'm a lot like my dad, otherwise my life would have been very different.

3.  Writing books and putting them out for the world to see required me to muster a lot of courage. As what you write or the stories you tell won't necessarily appeal to some people and criticism while in some ways is good and helps you grow as a person and as a writer, in other ways it can be hard to take especially if it's delivered in a hostile or malicious vein with the intent to belittle and undermine confidence, and it's usually the latter, and more often comes from a place of envy/jealousy or just pure spite which is actually very sad. I believe in encouragement and trying to uplift others, boosting confidence and self-belief.

4. My younger self would be proud to know that I now I'm still here! LOL  Especially after my accident/ceiling plunge, if it wasn't for Smooch being tripawed and needing the chair at the kitchen table pulled out on an angle so he could get on it, I'd have been found paralysed or dead on the kitchen table, as the back of the chair if it had been under the table properly would have broken my neck. Thank you Smooch, my little hero, what a little dude! Who knew that nearly 10 years when he arrived at BBHQ, his disability would inadvertently save my life.

Whisker of a Doubt

Mystic Notch Cozy Mystery Series, Book 6

by

Leighann Dobbs

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

When retired postmaster Albert Schumer is found dead on the steps of the post office, the whole town of Mystic Notch is disappointed he won’t be able to play in the annual checkers tournament.

But when his ghost informs middle-aged bookstore owner Willa Chance that he died trying to deliver an old letter, which has mysteriously gone missing, Willa realizes Albert didn’t just slip and fall. Someone killed him. Even worse, it turns out the letter contains a list of ingredients for a spell that could wreak havoc on Mystic Notch if it falls into the wrong hands.

I reviewed 3 other books in the Mystic Notch Cozy series ages ago.

Books 1, 2 and 5. I still have to review books 3 and 4 at some point, but I was so excited to see that finally book 6 was available on Audible and I got my mittens on that last week - woo hoo!

Go check out my previous reviews to learn a little - no spoilers here - about the characters and plots.

I've really enjoyed this series, it's a fun read or listen and Pandora the lead kitty in the story is one of my all-time favourite book cats.

In this book, another mysterious death has occurred and the victims' ghost appears. As with previous books, the plot is nice and twisty, weaving a little bit of magic and mayhem as the story culminates.

I just adore a great cozy mystery, and if mew love cozy mysteries as much as I do, then this one is definitely for mew. A purrfect read for a lazy Sunday afternoon by the fire with a cup of catnip tea.

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time fur me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books
