WOW! Can mew imagine what this place looked like in the 7th Century?  It's incredible to think way, way, way back then they had no machines to build these huge buildings, it blows our mind how incredibly clever and talented they were, truly paw-inspiring!

Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:

Hello epic travellers and history lovers!

This week we had the pleasure of visiting the ameowzing
Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire, and we were struck by the sheer size and
beauty of the ruins. However, what fascinated us the most was the abbey's rich
history which dates back to the 7th century.

Whitby Abbey was initially founded by the Anglo-Saxon King
Oswy of Northumbria, as a double monastery, where both men and women lived and
worshiped together. The abbey quickly gained a reputation as a centre of
learning and scholarship, attracting scholars from far and wide.

Unfortunately, during the Viking raids of the 9th century,
the abbey was destroyed and abandoned. However, it was rebuilt in the 11th
century as a Benedictine monastery, which saw the abbey grow in size and
importance. The abbey became a pilgrimage destination, attracting visitors from
all over Europe, and even royalty.

Despite its popularity, the dissolution of the monasteries in
the 16th century led to the abandonment and eventual ruin of Whitby Abbey.
Today, the ruins serve as a popular tourist attraction, where visitors from
around the world can explore the architectural beauty of the past.

Walking around the ruins, it's easy to imagine what life was
like when the abbey was thriving. The stunning architecture and beautiful
surroundings are truly pawesome, and the visitor centre provides a wealth of
information on the abbey's history. Whether mew're a history buff or just
looking for a fun day out, Whitby Abbey is definitely, most certainly worth a visit.

We're off to have a little garden safari, followed by a nice spot of lunch and then an afternoon snooze somewhere in the garden. Though it may rain a little later, but that's ok, as we'll move under the gazebo and listen to the relaxing pitter-patter of rain on the roof.

Do join us again tomorrow, when we're back with another episode of Cats Have Problems Too, and check out this week's Despurrate Dilemma. It is Pandora's birthday tomorrow, she's 9, and she was going to have a pawty, but she decided at the last minute she wanted to share her celebrations with Amber on October 24th, as she really loves Halloween.

We do hope mew have an epic day, and remember to always...
