Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and this week I thought I'd share an up close and furry purrsonal selfie of yours truly, where my whiskers are epically ON FLEEK! Don't ask me what On Fleek means, as I'm not too sure, but I think it means they're looking purretty nifty, and mine fit into that category today! MOL

Amber's Book Reviews #266 ©BionicBasil® Amber's Whiskers on Fleek

And yes, I know I've got a nice bit of eye snot, the P.A. has been trying to ambush me for the last two days to get it, but I have been fiercly reluctant to part with it - well I have to keep the P.A. on her toes! MOL

Anyhoo, let's look at this weeks top book pick.

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. I am glad I got rid of ___________________________.
2. I wish I had kept ________________.
3. _________ would be _________ if _________.
4. _________ is too close for comfort.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. I am glad I got rid of lots of stuff, but mainly anything that's broken and unreparable and not even useful for spares goes. Though I do live by a mend and make do kind of philosophy, sometimes, things are just beyond that and need to go.

2. I wish I had kept lots of stuff. I was silly and acted in haste a few years ago, and donated a lot of clothing which in one way was really nice to help others, but I wish I'd kept a few pieces, I have over-eager donators remorse about that! LOL   So now when I'm prepping for a donation I make a stack and add to it over several weeks, and then I'll assess that stack for another couple of months before it goes. No more over-eager donators remorse.

3. Summer would be even more epic if I had a swim spa!  I've wanted one of those swim spa thingys for years, maybe the swim spa Gods will look kindly upon me this year! LOL (I wish!)

4. _________ is too close for comfort.  LOL There are many ways I could answer this: Standing in a crowded Tube carriage at rush hour. Being in a crowded cinema. Being in a crowded restuarant. Being in a crowded shopping centre, going to a concert or huge festival, etc... You see where this going don't you? I suffer from acute Snow-Leopard-Syndrome aka S.L.S., and for those who aren't familiar with it; basically I love solitude, my own company, and you only see me when I want you to see me. The rest of the time I'm in my own realm and blissfully happy, with my little clowder of kitties and my hubby.

The Case of the Cat Show Princess

The Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Capers Book 1

by

Cindy Vincent

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Cat detectives Buckley and Bogey have barely advertised their new detective agency on the Internet when they receive a secretive email from a cat who claims she is in danger. Of course, the cat doesn’t give any details, like who she is or what kind of danger she’s in. Instead she mysteriously signs her name as P.A. and says she’ll be at the St. Gertrude Cat Show on the weekend. To investigate, Buckley and Bogey soon find themselves at that very cat show. And, as part of their cover, Buckley enters the Cutest Family Pet Competition and Bogey enters the Agility Competition. Before they know it, they come nose-to-nose with a real, live Princess. One who even wears a diamond collar!

Today I'm sharing another brand new series for me, even though this book was originally published in 2011, I only recently discovered it.

If mew're looking for a delightful, funny and entertaining read, look no further than The Case of the Cat Show Princess by Cindy Vincent. This book is the first in the Buckley and Bogey Cat Detective Capers series, and it's a real page-turner. The story stars cat detectives Buckley and Bogey, two black cats, who receive a mysterious email from a cat in danger who uses the initials P.A. hmmmm where have I seen those initials before!? MOL To investigate and solve the mystery, they go to the St. Gertrude Cat Show, where they enter competitions to blend in, while they work undercover. And that's where they come face-to-face with a real-life princess, complete with a diamond collar! The book is full of humor, suspense, and of course, talking cats! It's purrfect for fans of cozy mysteries or anypawdy who loves feline protagonists. The author does an excellent job of weaving together a fun and engaging story that will keep mew hooked until the very end. The Case of the Cat Show Princess is a must-read for anypawdy looking for a fun and lighthearted adventure to while a lazy Sunday afternoon away. So if mew're ready to embark on an exciting journey with two handsome, and clever cat detectives, be sure to get your mittens on a copy of this book as soon as pawsible!

It's available within the Kindle Unlimited library, and there are six books in the series, so mew know I've already started book two! MOL

Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today and have I got an epic throwback for mew today!

I'm the last remaining memfur of the Crotchety Cougars, and so I thought I'd share this really fun photo I found while looking for a cute picture for today.

Amber's Book Reviews #264 ©BionicBasil® Amber's Crotchety Cougar Throwback

This was taken on my official enrollment in October 2017 after pawesome Auwnty Ellen from 15&Meowing sent me a meautiful knitted hat to welcome me to the tribe, when I was much chubbier and my chest fur was a lot smoother and oodles more fluffy.

Ahhh those were the days, and all those furbulous excursions we went on, obviously I'm sworn to secrecy as what happened in the Crotchety Cougars stays in the Crotchety Cougars! MOL

But I will say this, it was EPICALLY EPIC!

Anyhoo, let's look at this weeks top book pick.

1. Wouldn’t it be nice if __________________________.
2. I don’t mind buying used ______________________.
3. I have a strange habit of _________.
4. I have enough ________ to last a lifetime.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could just get along. We live in the best of times, with the best of facilities and opportunities, yet some peeps just want to be difficult and create wars, pan--demics and all other manner of global atrocities, when in reality they don't need to happen. It makes no sense to me on any level, when there is more than enough to go around.

2. I don’t mind buying used clothes, in fact I absolutely love finding a vintage bargain, my last purchase was a 1990s Mondi cropped jacket from Ebay. Used furniture too is also very welcome, as I love to paint furniture and have done for over 30 years.

3. I have a strange habit of ________.  To be honest I don't really have any strange habits, although some others might beg to differ! LOL

4. I have enough knitwear to last a lifetime. See last weeks fill-ins! LOL Plus if anything gets holey or damaged, I repair it. I'm the same with sewing buttons on, repairing zippers, tailoring things to fit. I can't imagine not being able to sew a button on, or repair things. Mend and keep it forever! LOL

A Not So Purrfect Culprit

A Cotswold Cat Familiar Cozy Mystery Book 2

by

D. Watts

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Following the thread too far could lead to a cat-astrophe … On the heels of opening her crystal jewellery shop in the English village, along with a new snarky familiar, debut witch, Felicity Knight now finds herself pursued by the animal doc, Benedict Vincent. He’s quite the catch despite him being a creature of the night and all. Life is good for Felicity until another homicide throws everything off kilter.

Benedict’s bloodsucking friend, Raphael, has plenty of enemies, so when he’s found murdered, things get predictably messy. Felicity would prefer to keep a distance while exploring her newfound elemental powers, but with Benedict pegged as the chief suspect, someone has to vindicate the vet before it’s too late.

This week I decided to continue a series I started last year, and picked up A Not So Purrfect Culprit, the second book in the Cotswold Cat Familiar Cozy Mystery series by D. Watts, and I must say, I was thoroughly entertained! Set in the quaint English village of Agnes, this book had everything I look for in a cozy mystery: a charming setting, a cast of quirky characters, and a puzzling paranormal whodunit that kept me guessing until the very end.

The story follows our amateur sleuth and newbie witch Felicity, and her talking magical cat, Atticus, as they unravel the mystery surrounding a murder of a vampire. Along the way, they encounter a colorful cast of suspects. The plot was well-paced and kept me engaged from start to end, with plenty of twists and turns to keep me turning those pages.

But what really is fun. is Atticus the talking cat, mew know how much I love a talking cat in a series. He's a clever, magical and mischievous feline with a wicked sense of humor, and he had me chuckling out loud with his witty remarks and clever observations. I also appreciated how the author incorporated magic and paranormal elements into the story without overpowering the mystery.

Overall, A Not So Purrfect Culprit was a delightful read that had me eagerly turning the pages. I think this book is purrfect for any cozy cat paranormal mystery fans, cat lovers, or anyone looking for a fun and engaging read. I can't wait to see what adventures Felicity, Atticus and Co get up to next!

I can't wait to read the next installment in the series, of which there are five in total, and they are all available on Kindle Unlimited if mew're a subscriber!

A Cat and His Human (League of Losers Book #1): LitRPG Series

by

 Michael Atamanov

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

When our protagonist Andrei discovers that his girlfriend has cheated on him, he finds himself with an unexpected choice to make: a quick death, or a new life in another world he knows absolutely nothing about. Andrei chooses life, and sets off alongside his pet, a ginger cat with a limp, for a primeval world fraught with danger. The trouble is… who is whose pet becomes entirely unclear; the man’s consciousness is split between both creatures, and the little cat gets a far greater share of intelligence and wit than his hulking master. What do you do as a weak little kitty? Abandon the clumsy human who always seems to get into trouble, go in search of a new master?

I discovered a new genre for me: LitRPG aka Literary Role Playing Game, which is a hybrid style of story combining sci-fi/fantasy and video game playing.

This week I had the pleasure of reading A Cat and His Human: LitRPG Series by Michael Atamanov, the first book in the League of Losers series. From the very first page, I was immediately drawn into the vivid and imaginative world that Atamanov had created. The plot was nothing short of furbulous following the story of a young man named Andrei who then takes on the game name of Sergeant when he becomes trapped in a virtual reality game. As Sergeant navigates the treacherous world of the game, he has an unlikely ally - a talking cat called Whiskers who is also trapped in the game. The dynamic between Sergeant and the cat was truly unique, and their relationship was one of the highlights of this book. But I won't spoil the plot for mew as it is quite quirky. The characters were incredibly well-developed. Sergeant was a protagonist that I couldn't help but root for, and his journey throughout the book was filled with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. However, it was the cat who really stole the show. His quick wit and sarcastic commentary were simply hilarious, and I found myself laughing out loud at many of his one-liners. The world-building in A Cat and His Human was simply superb. Atamanov's attention to detail was evident in every chapter, from the gaming mechanics to the various settings within the game. The author did an excellent job of creating a vibrant and detailed virtual world that felt incredibly real. Overall, A Cat and His Human was an absolutely fantastic read that left me wanting to find out more. I would highly recommend this book to anypawdy who enjoys LitRPGs, cats or anyone who is simply looking for an engaging and entertaining read.

If mew have Kindle Unlimited, this title and the next two in the series are available within your subscription. I listened to the Audible version and thought the narration was brilliant.
