Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #7 featuring The Cats' House & Cats into Everything

Welcome to

The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Pawesome greetings fellow bibliocats

Hi guys, Amber here again *waves paw most ecstatically*

So sorry I wasn't here last week, and yes I was most miffed to have missed sharing another pawesome book with mew all, but these things happen.

Anyhoo, let's get on with the show.  Mew may remember that in my last post, click here, I mentioned Browser the library kitty was being evicted from his home and job, well the good news is that he is safe and I'd like to say a speshul thank mew to Diane who so furry kindly left a comment to let me know.

So with that good news shared, it's time fur the main event and as I wasn't here last week I'm doing a 2 fur 1 today! MOL

This week on Book Reviews with Amber, I'm sharing The Cats' House & Cats into Everything.

Cats into Everything

I love these books, and I have to apologise fur the faded covers, but I had such a job getting them here in the UK several years ago.  The only copies that were available were used and I had to get them shipped from America.

But faded covers aside, these have to be two of my fav books.  I was hoping the P.A. would take some inspiration from The Cats' House and turn our house into a kitty paradise of ramps, stairs, holes in walls and all manner of fabulous feline amusement apparatus including a terrific catwalk.  Sadly this didn't happen... howeffur one can remain hopeful fur such a make-offur to occur, but with a much subtler colour palette!  MOL

They do make most excellent coffee table books and are well wurth a purrusal time and time again, as each time mew look at the pictures mew spot something else mew missed before.
The photo's are great and the cats are gorgeous, what more do mew need? MOL

They are both rather whimsical, but if mew love cats then mew'll love these.

Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #6 featuring Reservoir Cats

Welcome to

The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Pawesome greetings fellow bibliocats

Hi guys, Amber here again *waves paw avidly*

It's lovely to be here again and sharing another book with mew all, and today I'm sharing one written by Basil's pawesome pal Squirt, from Twitter.  But before we get to that, here's a quick update from the lair of a literary kitty.

I was horrified the other day to read about a fellow library kitty called Browser who was being evicted from his library home by the local council in Texas - this in my humble opinion is outrageous; how can any library possibly function correctly without a cat?  It's NOT possible - I know this from purrsonal experience!

Browser the Cat - Facebook Page

Mew can read all about it by clicking the link above and if mew haven't signed the petition to help him stay in his bookly home, purrlease take a moment to put your paw print on it by clicking the link below:

At the last count there were 13,500 signatures and it looks like Browser may have a temporary reprieve but the more peeps that share and sign the safer his future will be.

Thank mew and now onto the main event...

Reservoir Cats

by

Squirt

Meet Squirt, a supurr savvy kitty with a fabulous tale to tell and pawesome witty mewsings to share.  I did have to repeatedly shush and then tell the P.A. to leave the library more than once while we were reading this as she began to laugh rather a lot at Squirts rather keen wisdom and comic literary wit. [Well mew know that mew have to have QUIET in library's and I do enforce that rule, even though on the inside I can be quite literally laughing my socks off! MOL]

If like the P.A. and I, mew enjoy a good chuckle or at times a random burst of hysterics then I can wholly recommend Reservoir Cats.  Squirt is a Somali cat living in the far wilds of Scotland, where he is in charge of... well effurything; including his staff, the estate, patrolling to keep the place safe from other kitty invaders [one inpurrticular, but no spoilers here] and even helping to teach the kitten newcomers next door a few tricks.  It's a really fun read, especially the part about the Boxman and 2 day old mouse [but that's as spoilery as I'm going to get], trust me mew'll laugh your fur off.

It is part diary and part kitty observations on life; getting revenge, the importance of goggles, feng shui and a whole host of other entertaining scenario's.

Squirt has furry valid opinions and highly adept answers fur effurything, plus an alter ego supurr villain called The Shadow!

I am hoping that there will be a sequel, but I'll have to get Basil to ask Squirt about that.

If mew want a wildly witty and comical caper, read this!

The Kindle Edition is 106 pages long

Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #5 featuring Cooking For Your Cat

Welcome to

The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Pawesome greetings fantabulous furiends

Hey guys, Amber here again *waves paw enthusiastically*

It's lovely to be here again, I do hope mew've all had a great week and plenty of reading time.  Last week I mentioned about getting a library ladder this has NOT happened yet and yes, I've written a formal complaint to the P.A. who said, "Don't panic, I'm on the case but in the meantime choose books from the lower shelves!"

So this week I did as she asked and the book I choose was on a lower shelf [see bottom library pic to the left of the lion] so I least I didn't breach any Health & Safety rules.  Plus mew may remember a few weeks ago when Smoochie was doing his brief introductory seminar on  'How to oppurrate a ladder safely'  [as accidents in the wurk-place are appurrently a common occurrence these days due to impropurr training] and he has insisted that when the new library ladder arrives, all memfurs of The B Team are fully trained in

Ladder Protocol

[Certificates will be awarded to all purrticpants passing the course]

Which no doubt he will be sharing with mew all, just in case your peeps decide to bring any ladders - fur whateffur reason - into your abode!

Anyhoo I'm digressing, so let's get on with this weeks book pick.

Cooking For Your Cat

by

Sophie Klein

Now this is a little different from my previously featured books, but neffurtheless it's definitely wurth featuring.

This an actual cookery book fur cats featuring many delicious recipes fur the gourmet kitty and it's full of colour photo's.  While many peeps [on Amazon] have taken it rather too seriously aka a formal nutritional guide fur cats and panned it; at our abode it's more of a tongue in cheek book that gets visitors wundering what on earth happens in our kitchen!

"Do you really cook for your cats?"

"Wow, look at those dishes, have you [The P.A.] tried any?"

"Gourmet cats huh... you have too much time on your hands!"

"So how many recipes have you cooked?"

etc... etc... etc...

It's an ideal coffee table book, and at our house the P.A. is not the cook if she can help it.  She says that's dads department and laughs hysterically.  But seriously if mew're looking fur a fun read with real recipes [should mew choose to try them] this is a great addition to effuryones library.

Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #4 featuring The Kimmy Diaries

Welcome to

The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Fantabulous greetings pawesome furriends

Hey guys, Amber here again *waves paw excitedly*

I can't believe how fast these Wednesday's keep popping up, it doesn't seem two shakes of my tail since we were here last week...

Anyhoo, I do hope mew've all had a purrfect weekend and got some good quality reading time in, purrsonally I was slaving in the library hunting fur this weeks literary offuring to share with mew and before I furget I need to put in a request fur a library ladder as I was struggling to reach the top shelves on my tippy-toes.  There was a little incident or purrhaps mew could call it a calamity, when I was nearly buried in books, if it wasn't fur my lightning reflexes I would have been trapped under several heavy tomes by Charles Dickens - not a good look on any libary kitty! The Kimmy Diaries

by

Kimmy

[aka Christine Wilson]

Kimmy's Diary is written from Kimmy's point of view.

Tag Line: Like Bridget Jones only furrier!

As an older cat at Bath Cats & Dog Home Kimmy thought she'd neffur find her furrever home until the day Christine appeared, and then her life changed fureffur.

Going from a cage fur one to a four story house in less time than it takes to say 'more noms purrlease' Kimmy's life is changed in an instant.

Read about how she adjusts to her new world and new effurything, plus coming to the realisation that dreams do come true.

A clever and cute story that will resonate with anypurrdy who's previous life was as a shelter cat.

Also, another thing I really loved about this book is that the profits from sales go to the Bath Cats & Dogs Home, a book with cause is always a winner fur me!

The paperback copy is: 144 pages

There are no audio stats fur this book.

In total there are 3 diaries:

Kimmy's Furry Diary  @ 154 pages

Kimmy's Irish Diary   @ 126 pages
