Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and I couldn't believe this photo of me from 2016. I was certainly a bit of a mega-chonk back then, I can't use the word fat as apparently many peeps are getting rather sensitive about such words.

Amber's Book Reviews #233 ©BionicBasil® Amber's Throwback To Mega Chonk in 2016

Anyhoo, just look at all that epic chonkness, do mew how long it took me to bulk up like that? I'll tell mew, I was on an extreme bulking phase for a good couple of years, until I decided that I wanted to be skinny-mini again and went on an un-bulking phase.

Did mew know Snowie never got chonky, ever? Posie did, she was a little tuxedo pudding. Actually, in 2009 Basil really bulked up, he was just a solid mass for 2 to 3 year years, then he leaned off a bit, I think that's because he wasn't eating so many rabbits!

Humphrey was a big boy too, though not ever as big as Parsley at 6.7 kg or 14.75 lb. I thought Melvyn would get bigger/chonky, but he's stayed exactly the same, as have Fudge and Pandora.

Isn't it strange how some of us bulk up, and others don't?

And on that note, I'm off to eat fresh tuna with baby shrimp on the side. YUMMY!

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. Be sure to ________________because __________________.
2. I would never give ______________ to ____________________.
3. I got _________ from _________.
4. Just because I _________ doesn’t mean I _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. Be sure to check the airing cupboard before closing the door for cats, because Parlsey got accidentally shut in ours last week.

2. I would never give my cats to anyone else to look after. That's why we're sadly lacking in the holiday department for the last few years.

3. I got a great gardening tool from QVC last week. It's a long-handled spiky soil tiller, and it works a treat.

4. Just because I have a lot of cats doesn’t mean I am a crazy cat lady. I've never understood the crazy cat lady insult; the amount of snide, nasty, insulting and underhand comments I received over the years for having cats are too many to count. I just don't get it, why are you crazy because you have cats? Growing up, we had 5 dogs, and no one ever called my mum a crazy dog lady. My dad used to keep 500 cattle, and no one ever called him a crazy cattleman, so why is it any different for cats?

Kitty Confidential

Pet Whisperer P.I. Book 1

by

Molly Fitz

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

I was just your normal twenty-something with seven associate degrees and no idea what I wanted to do with my life. That is, until I died… Well, almost.

As if a near-death experience at the hands of an old coffeemaker wasn’t embarrassing enough, I woke up to find I could talk to animals. Or rather one animal in particular.

His full name is Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton, but since that’s way too long for anyone to remember, I’ve taken to calling him Octo-Cat. He talks so fast he can be difficult to understand, but seems to be telling me that his late owner didn’t die of natural causes like everyone believes.

This is a new series by Molly Fitz, well it's a new series to me. And if mew want to see my other reviews by this author, click here.

This was an audiobook, and if mew read my previous for the other series mentioned above, mew'll know that I didn't rate the narrator so much. But the good news is in this series, the narrator is totally top paw, so no worries at all - it's really easy listening!

Our talking cat is called Octo-Cat, and he is as snarky and right up his own fur as much as a cat can be. In fact, he makes Albus from last week's review look pawsitively polite and considerate, and we know what snark-machine he was! MOL

And our heroine is called Angie, who, until she accidentally gets electrocuted by an errant coffee machine, had no skills whatsoever in talking to and understanding cats. And after this life-altering incident, things will never be the same.

Angie and Octo-Cat team up to solve who killed his rich owner, as all is not what it seems, and Octo-Cat was the only witness of sorts to the crime.

This is a well-plotted read, with some nice twisty turns interspersed with the obligatory cozy mystery red herrings. The story moves at a good pace, and the characters are interesting, all in all, a really good start to this series. And I've just seen that there are 18 books in total, featuring all kinds of anipal furiends.

Also, if mew get the audio version on Audible, look for books 1 - 3 in a box set, and I've just found that mew can get the Kindle version in a box set too, which saves a bit of cash if mew buy them this way.

I really hope mew enjoy the book as much as I did if mew decide to read it.

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time, and I'll be back next week with another specially paw-picked book just for mew, and don't furget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

  2. We have some of the chonkies going on here too. Those were good answers, we never go on vacation either since we won't leave ours either. Sweet Amber, that was a terrific review sweetie. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thusday Blog Hop!

  3. I agree with #4,in fact it is speciesist! That doesn't look right, is there such a word? I know what I mean anyway.
Amber, you were a chonk and would give Eric a good run for his money. (See today's post for proof!)
    That book sounds really good.

  4. Agree all the way on #4, I can't imagine where that comes from. The company of cats fosters peace of mind! We have a chonker or two here ... Amber that book sounds good, and the whole series sounds interesting!

  5. Amber, you are gorgeous at any size. I have a lot of chonky cats right now. That looks like a great book and I like that there are a lot in the series. Thank you to the PA for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I had the same for #4. And we don't travel either because we won't leave our cats with anyone else to care for them. XO

  6. YES, YES, YES to #4!!! Mudpie is chonky too. And I don't travel for the same reason!

  7. If we cannot take our pups with us, we stay home. Staycations are not that bad, and we love to travel in our imagination!

Glad Parsley was found! Sorry he caused troubles...

Years ago we inadvertently locked our Suki in the closet. When we got home Groucho was sitting in front of the door...and mrouwing loudly...he knew she was in there and wanted us o let her ouut...which of course we did with due haste!

  8. Cats, like people, get big or small depending on genetics and how much they eat. Ms. GA has Oliver Twist, who looks like a dumpster cat, he's so very thin. He gets canned food twice a day, all the dry kibble he wants, has been checked by the vet for everything under the sun and is healthy as can be, and is 11 years old and still skinny as a stick. I wish i had his metabolism!

We trapped poor Molly-Cobby-Wobble in a drawer once, and tore the house apart looking. She was so quiet and good, she never made a peep from in there, which made it worse.

You are so right about the "crazy cat lady" moniker being an insult. Yes, on occasion, an elderly woman who doesn't know enough to get them fixed, or can't because of funds, gets overwhelmed by too many cats that take over the house, but it's not every person who has a lot of cats. People need to wise up.

    Thanks for joining Feline Friday!

  9. You look chonky purrfect, sweet Amber and that book looks like a great readšŸ˜ø We both have been locked up accidentally in the cupboard under the stairs. Granny says we're so fast that she can't see that we got in..as we're not fast to get out...MOL...Granny doesn't want to leave us under the care of someone else either, and says that a staycation is the best vactionšŸ˜ŗ We never saw it that way,(about 'a crazy cat lady') Amber, that's because English is not our native language and we don't have that saying in our Country, so we found it kind of funny...oopsšŸ™€ Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day to all of youšŸ¾šŸ˜½šŸ’ž
