Hello meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today and my last review of the current season.

Happy, happy news, mew remember last week when I set Parsley on as the library manager?

Well, things took an incredible turn this week as Parsley set up a bank account for the library and put money in there, too; plus, he gave me my own credit card linked to said bank account - what an epically epic dude! Mew could have knocked me over with a library pamphlet, rolled me down Aisle B and thrown confetti all over me, and I couldn't have been more surprised!

Amber's Book Reviews #290 ©BionicBasil® Amber in April 2015

So that's my epic news to finish this season's reviews on, and when I was looking for a cute photo to share today, I found this furbulous flashback to April 2015 - don't I look gorgeous?!!!! MOL

Anyhoo, what books have mew been reading this week?

Apart from this week's top pick, I've also reread (R.R.) three books, plus one new book (N.R.) since my last review:

Skin Game by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 15 - (R.R.)

Peace Talks by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 16 - (R.R.)

The Last Continent by Terry Pratchett - Discworld BK 22 (R.R.)

and

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros - Empyrean BK 1 - (N.R.)

It was a bit of a slow week book-wise, but Fourth Wing is a bit of a tome at 512 pages, so I waded my way through that. After a bit of a slow start, it's quite the page-turner, and I've already got my mittens on book 2—thanks, Parsley!

Let The Purring Begin

Sapphire's Tale

by

Sallie Cochren

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

If you are a lover of cats, this tale is for you!

When a sweet cat named Ashley finds herself tossed outside to live on her own, she doesn't know what the future holds for her. Frightened and forced to fend for herself, she isn't sure that she can ever trust humans again.

But that soon changes when she meets Summer, a kind woman who rescues her and gives her a new name - Sapphire. Despite Summer telling Sapphire that she loves her and that she is her forever baby, it takes time for Sapphire to trust a human fully again.

Sapphire and Summer aren't alone for long. It seems that Sapphire has brought some other cats with her. When she has three beautiful kittens, they all want to stay with Summer. Can they convince Summer to keep them all? And when a new cat named Mango shows up, how will he change their family dynamics?

This heart-warming tale, told by a former street cat, shares her journey as she learns to love again!

**Firstly I have to let mew all know that I was given a free copy of this book in e-format in exchange for a fair review**

Let The Purring Begin ~ Sapphire's Tale by Sallie Cochren is an enchanting book that will capture the hearts of cat lovers everywhere.

The story follows Sapphire's journey and is told from her point of view. It's like a kitty diary of sorts, documenting her life from hopelessness to happiness, with a few speed bumps along the way.

She is a resilient cat who, after being adopted as a kitten, her cat mom's soldier hubby returns from deployment a couple of months later and kicks her out, as he hates cats. Finding herself abandoned and alone after the super mean soldier drives to the middle of nowhere and dumps her; she eventually learns to trust again with the help of Summer, a kind-hearted woman who becomes her rescuer.

As Sapphire settles into her new home, the addition of other feline friends, including Mango, who's another stray, and the charming dynamics they bring to the household, create a heartwarming and often humorous narrative.

Sallie Cochren's storytelling is both touching and entertaining, making it a delightful read for anypawdy who cherishes the companionship of their whiskered furiends. Grab a hot beverage of your choice, find a cozy nook, and prepare to be whisked away into the heartening world of Sapphire and her furry companions!

This is a purrfect Sunday afternoon read, and I highly recommend it to all my readers.

It's time for me to say BFN or bye-for-now as mew know the drill, so many books, so little time and I'll be back in the Autumn/Fall with another specially selected selection of paw-picked books just for mew, and don't forget that all my previous reviews can be found on my Book Review page.

Until next time...

Keep calm and read more books

**FELINE FICTION FIX** Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #289 featuring **A Midwinter's Tail** by Sofie Kelly PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins

Amber's Book Reviews Banner ©BionicBasil® May 2023

Hello meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today.

Gosh, I must say that running a library full-time is really taking it out of me at my age, hence my covert meeting with Parsley. And yes, I know he gets a little upset sometimes, all the time, when I borrow his credit card, but really, he doesn't mind, as what else is he going to spend his money on? There's only so many weapons mew can buy before mew've got the full set, so I've been doing him a favour investing in first editions and the like.

Amber's Book Reviews #289 ©BionicBasil® Me and Parsley Just Having A Little Conflab About The MC Library

So as Parsley is rather skilled in organising things, I've drafted his help in the library to manage things while I get a few more catnaps in during the day.

And, yes, I know Melvyn is my intern, but he's not old enough for the responsibility yet. He's too easily distracted and often goes off with the library mice into the archives to play hide-and-seek.

I'm just glad Parsley's on board to oversee things and keep Melvyn in check.

Anyhoo, what books have mew been reading this week?

Apart from this week's top pick, I've also reread (R.R.) three books, plus two new books (N.R.) since my last review:

Ghost Story by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 13 - (R.R.)

Cold Days by Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden BK 14 - (R.R.)

Raising Steam by Terry Pratchett - Discworld BK 40 (R.R.)

Past Sins by W.V. Stott & Bavid Bussell - Dark Lakes BK 3 (N.R.)

Killing Time by Jodi Taylor - Time Police BK 5 (N.R.)

The new Time Police book is really good, I'm a huge fan of Jodi Taylor and love the St Mary's series, epic!

A Midwinter's Tail

A Magical Cats Mystery Book 6

by

Sofie Kelly

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Kathleen Paulson is snowed under running her library and caring for her extraordinary felines, Owen and Hercules. But when a fund-raiser turns deadly, she’ll have to add sleuthing to her already full schedule.

Winter in Mayville Heights is busy and not just because of the holidays. Kathleen is hard at work organizing a benefit to raise money for the library’s popular Reading Buddies program. She has her hands full hosting the event. And when a guest at the gala drops dead, her magical cats, Owen and Hercules, will have their paws full helping her solve a murder.

Mew may remember, a couple of months ago I rediscovered this pawesome series, and I'm now on a mission to review the entire Magical Cats Mystery series before the end of the year.

Here are my previous reviews:

What did I think of A Midwinter's Tail: A Magical Cats Mystery BK 6 by Sofie Kelly? It is an enchanting and captivating tale that will whisk mew away into a world filled with cozy mysteries and magical felines. Join Kathleen Paulson and her extraordinary cats, Owen and Hercules, as they navigate through a charming winter setting in Mayville Heights. The story skillfully creates a rich and immersive plot where Kathleen's commitment to her library and her clever feline companions take centre stage. The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of a bustling winter season, with Kathleen balancing the demands of organizing a fundraiser while diving headfirst into a thrilling murder mystery following a shocking incident at the gala event. And, of course, Owen and Hercules are there, front and centre, to assist in solving this latest crime. Mew will be enthralled as mew accompany Kathleen, her detective boyfriend Marcus, and her extraordinary magical cats on a journey through a complex and intricately woven web of connections and secrets surrounding the deceased. Book 6 is a great, page-turning read that delivers an irresistible blend of cozy cat mystery and magical charm with a sprinkling of murder. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anypawdy seeking an engaging and fun escape into the world of enchanting mysteries and remarkable feline companions!

This book is purrfect for anypawdy who enjoys a captivating cozy cat mystery with a touch of magic.
