Hello gorgeous library guests
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and this week I've been hanging out in the sitting room as the fire has been roaring away until yesterday morning.
This was me making an enquiry as to when it was going to be lit again, as I was feeling much cooler than I liked.
The P.A. told me that I had to wait until she'd emptied the ash pan and got more wood and coal to relight it.
Well, let me tell mew, I was not impressed as she indicated it wouldn't be happening for another couple of hours, but at least she went and fetched me the head pad, so I went and got snuggled in a pile of blankies and snoozed the rest of the afternoon away.
And when I awoke, I was delighted to see that the fire was roaring and the thermometer was slowly creeping up into the totally tropical zone again, just where I like it! MOL
Anyhoo, let's get on with today's post.
1. If someone offered me a free _______________, I would accept it.
2. If someone offered me a free __________________, I would refuse it.
3. I have _________ memorized.
4. _________ has really changed since I was younger.
The P.A.'s answers are...
1. If someone offered me a free holiday to a nice 5-star hotel in a safe and tropical climate, I would accept it.
2. If someone offered me a free holiday in London, I would refuse it.
3. I have _________ memorized. I've got lots of stuff memorised, whether that's a good thing or not, I don't know. It kind of fills the little grey cells to capacity! LOL
4. Everything has really changed since I was younger. I'm talking about where I live and the local vicinity. And some of it not in a good way. I'm all for change if it's positive, but I'm not in favour of change for change's sake. If it's not broken, don't fix it!
Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!
This week's top book pick is...
Mewton-Clawson Library Copy
Crystals, Belladonna, and Murder: A Cozy Magic Midlife Mystery
Silver Circle Cat Rescue Mysteries Book 1
by
Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
A midlife magic gift with a murder mystery that keeps you guessing.
When forty-nine year old Eleanor Rockwell was laid off from her soul-crushing corporate job, she moved a few miles north of Austin with her daughter, Evie, and opened Silver Circle Cat Rescue in the small town of Tablerock, Texas.
Five years later, SCCR is Wildebridge County's largest shelter for lost kitties, so it's no surprise when Deputy Markham brings Belladonna—former mayor Fiona Blackwell's cat—to the shelter after she's arrested for murdering her husband, Beau. But why, Eleanor wonders, did the Deputy bring a silver drink tray with the sullen cat—and why is Belladonna talking when she walks on it?
Crystals, Belladonna, and Murder: A Cozy Magic Midlife Mystery by Leanne Leeds is a captivating and enchanting read that immerses mew in a world of magic, mystery, and cats. The story revolves around Eleanor Rockwell, a 49-year-old woman who, after being laid off from her corporate job, opens a cat rescue shelter in the quaint town of Tablerock, Texas.
When the former mayor, Fiona Blackwell, is arrested for murdering her husband, Beau, Deputy Markham brings Belladonna, Fiona's cat, to the shelter. However, things take a strange turn when Belladonna starts talking - mew know how much I love a talking cat - but only when she's sitting, or standing on the silver plate, and strange occurrences begin to happen around town. Eleanor is determined to uncover the truth behind the mystery before it's too late.
The author expertly blends supernatural elements with mystery and humour, creating a compelling and immersive reading experience. The characters are well-crafted, each with their own distinct personality, quirks, and secrets. The plot is engaging and suspenseful, keeping mew guessing until the very end.
If mew're a fan of cat cozy mysteries, paranormal fiction, and feline companions, then this book is a must-add to the bookshelf. It's a charming and delightful novel that transports mew to the gawgus town of Tablerock and leaves mew eager for the next instalment in the series. Crystals, Belladonna, and Murder is an enchanting and entertaining read that is sure to leave mew under its spell.
There are nine books in the series, and if mew are subscribed to Kindle Unlimited they are available in the catalogue to read for free, and if mew have Audible, they are available to listen for the cost of one member credit each.
