Hello meautiful library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and my first review of the new season!

I can't tell mew how happy I am to have my Friday Slot back, I was starting to get a little cuckoo, as normally I start back in September.

The library mice have been doing their best to entertain me with theatrical renditions of; The Taming of The Shoe and A Midsummer Night's Apocalypse, not to mention Smackbeth, which I must say was hilarious, as they were quite slap-happy. Though the funniest was Much Ado About Cheese, who knew that there were so many cheeses and the effects that they cause after being enhanced, though I can't mention anymore, but Angel Humphrey was quite shocked to learn they'd been in his laboratory cooking up a storm.

This was me last week whiling the hours away, waiting for my comeback! MOL

But seriously, I've had a nice summer break, and have found some fun books to share for the new season, and I've got a couple of new releases from authors who've sent me copies in the last few weeks which I'm really looking forward to sharing, so stay tuned for those.

And now, let's dive into this week's top pick.

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.

1. I no longer feel the need to ______________________.
2. My October list of things to do includes ____________ and _______________.
3. I'm proud of myself for _________.
4. I plan to _________ in order to improve _________.

Here are the P.A.'s answers:

1. I no longer feel the need to do anything I don't like or go to things that I don't want to go to. You know the things I'm talking about, those things we can feel under pressure or obligated to participate in or do.

2. My October list of things to do includes doing some work in the garden, weather permitting and sorting out some closets for local charity donations.

3. I'm proud of myself for writing over 40,000 words on the book I'm working on - though I still have a long way to go. This is a huge milestone after being in a writing dead zone for the past 4 years.

4. I plan to engage in more walking in order to improve my fitness. I spent my entire life working out most days and being really fit, but in the last few years in the aftermath of my fall, and the recovery from that plus menopause, my energy levels have been so erratic the fitness part of my daily ritual has been mostly sporadic. I must say I haven't loved the last four years at all for what it's taken from me. But then I look at it as though it's a character-building exercise, and hopefully it'll get better! LOL

Bits and Pieces

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

What is a cat to do when he sees his cat daddy framed as a killer? Murderers most brutal strike the close knit community of Urchin Cove. Bodies keep dropping, animals and people go missing, suspicions grow and fingers are pointed in this unusual Oregon coast town. It soon becomes a dangerous case for the unique (and huge) Jericho. His cat dad and new town vet, the young and handsome Dr. All Medley, is under suspicion and it could cost them both everything. To bring justice to the cove and rescue his human Jericho must deal with a ruthless murderer and criminals involved in a horrific animal fighting ring. Along the way, the huge feline fellow becomes a cat daddy himself.

The first book I chose to read during my summer jolly's was Bits and Pieces, authored by Wren Cavanagh. Although really a novella, as it's only 118 pages long, I must say, it was an enjoyable read! The story takes place in the quaint town of Urchin Cove and begins with our protagonist being accused of murder. I found the characters to be well-developed, particularly the protagonist All Medley, the new veterinarian in town and obviously there's an element of being a newcomer in a small town. The supporting cast were well written, and some were rather colourful, plus the cats and other anipal characters who popped up along the way added to the intrigue and unfolding storyline. Jericho the main cat, can talk. Yes, mew read that right - a talking cat and mew know how much I love that in a book! Jericho's had a very interesting past, although I won't spoilerize it for mew, as that would ruin it all. His mission now is to unravel the murder mystery with the help of some new anipal furiends. The setting of Urchin Cove is described in moderate detail creating a good sense of place for such a quick read, so don't think that mew'll be missing out on the scene setting, it's all there, everything mew need to get that picture in your mind. The plot twists and turns more than Melvyn with the zoomies through the library stacks, and even though as I previously said, it's a short book, it is highly entertaining. I recommend Bits and Pieces to anyone searching for an engaging and enjoyable cozy cat mystery story with a touch of humour. And I'm sure that Jericho's character will undoubtedly be the highlight of the story for mew, as it was for me.

Hello gorgeous library guests and welcome to my private library

Many apologies fur my absence last week, only the Mewton-Clawson Historical Society - M.C.H.S. needed the library again, so I was the hostess with the mostest! MOL

But the good news is with the proceeds from the hire charge I got myself a little book haul, so here's a little sneak-peek of what I'll be sharing over the coming months.

Anyhoo I'm absolutely beat, so it's time to share this weeks book as I'm off fur a quick cat nap.

This week I'm sharing

Bits and Pieces: Cat Daddies Mysteries, Book 1

by

Wren Cavanagh

I really enjoyed this novella, it's funny, witty, a furry quick read or listen, so purrfect fur when mew want a bite-sized book session.

The characters are good, interesting and diverse. There's the usual cozy mystery red herrings and dead ends which makes it all the more enjoyable.

Jericho is the main cat dude in the story, he's purretty pawesome even though I do say so myself, and there are other anipals throughout plus a few corrupt hoomans too, to say this is just under a tad three hours long [audio version] the author did pack a lot in, no wurds were wasted! MOL

There's a second book called Of Cats and Sea Monsters* in the series which I shall be getting furry soon, and reviewing it here stat!

Would I recommend mew try this, yes I would, give it a whirl and let me know your thoughts!
