Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #66 featuring I Could Pee On This and i got a new job, but then i had to quit!

Welcome To

With me, Amber ~ The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Supurr salutations pawesome furriends

*waves paw*

My week started like this...

Great news beautiful furriends, I've got another part-time job; I'm now the lighthouse keeper at BB HQ!

Yes I know what mew're all thinking; but mew don't live by the sea.  While this is technically true, we do have a small body of water and who knows when an inter-dimensional time-rift will open and some random ship will appear in the pond from the Purrmuda Triangle! MOL

But seriously, the frogs need a safe harbour when the weather is bad and I'll be there to make sure all is well in their wurld. And the frogs are paying me to keep them safe, from what who knows, but I need cash4books, so there was no way I was turning that oppurrtunity down especially since the Pole Dancing club is temporarily closed fur a refurb due to the weirdo badgers and cheapskate weasels getting into a bit of scuffle on Caturday night, and Amazon Affiliates is pants - but I already knew that.

So what turned out to be a crappy start to the week, actually became fabulous because now I only have to amble out of the patio doors down to the pond, it's a 30-second commute and I have requested a new bed fur while I'm on watch which conforms to all health and safety protocols. And I get a decent hourly rate which will enable me to purrchase at least one book purr shift, can't get better than that can mew?

And then this happened...

Basil asked me what I was doing, so I explained and then he said, I was being paid protection money as the frogs are assisting the kittens in raiding our catnip and catmint crop, appurrently the frogs are their lookout team to let them know the coast is clear...

Obviously I had to quit immediately due to a huge conflict of interests and our rapidly disappearing green crop, and then I gave the frogs a piece of my mind.

"Look here Mister Frog!" I said sternly. "Mew didn't tell me mew were the lookout crew fur the kittens!"

"B... b... b...." Mister Frog began.

"Oh shut up!" I snapped. "If mew continue to assist them I'll be putting in a proposal to turn the pond, aka your home into a sandpit, so mew, your family and your spawn will be homeless, what do mew think to that?"

I actually think I was a bit harsh as the frog started to cry, his family started to cry, I started to feel really bad and then the spawn started to wail. [Trust me when I say, mew neffur want to hear spawn wailing!]

"Oh fur cods sake!" I spluttered. "Stop helping the kittens and your home is safe, ok?"

"OK," Mister Frog croaked.

And so ended my career as the newest light-house keeper and my unemployment began again, a crappy mid-week blip, but I remain fureffur optimistic and just know that something will turn up soon... and so it goes... in the meantime let's check out this weeks top book pick.

This week I'm sharing

I Could Pee on This

And Other Poems by Cats

by

 Francesco Marciuliano

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

Cat lovers can rejoice in the quirkiness of their feline friends with these insightful and curious poems from the singular mind of house cats. In this fully illustrated book of tongue-in-cheek poetry, the author of the internationally syndicated comic strip Sally Forth helps cats unlock their creative potential and explain their odd behavior to ignorant humans, With titles like 'Who Is That on Your Lap?

*    *   *

As some of mew know Smooch had a little purroblem a couple of years ago with piddling in places he shouldn't and when the P.A. saw this book a few months ago she just had to buy it!  [Smooch didn't find it funny and promptly pee'd on the outside back-door mat - another item now RIP'd to the bonfire]

So anyhoo, what did I think of this little book full of fun? In one wurd, fantastic!

It is split into sections which covers:

Family
Work
Play
Existence

The furry first poem is obviously a part ODE to Smooch, as it tells of a cat that could pee on a sweater, then on a laptop - yep that actually happened here - Smooch did not find it funny at all, but I was MOLing my fur off!  Funnily enough, the P.A. didn't find it funny being reminded about her laptop [now in silicon heaven] either - oops.

Another favourite is called 'Tripped' that was hilarious. But my purrsonal all-time favourite is; 'Bigger Cat' as I can so relate to that, and now I'm rhyming too! MOL

As mew know I can't actually share any of the poems and there's so many I would love to - due to copyright issues - but I will say this, if mew want a fun little book that mew can visit time and time again, then this is just fur mew!

Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #65 featuring The Ghost of Christmas Paws (The No 2 Feline Detective Agency Series Book 4)

Welcome To

With me, Amber ~ The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Supurr salutations pawesome furriends

*waves paw*

Hello my beautiful furriends, I do hope that mew didn't miss me too much last week.  Many apologies fur my absence but I was having one of those days, do mew effur get them; the ones where mew just can't be fluffed to do anything at all?

And then Basil starts reading into the situation as though there's something completely amiss and calls an emergency meeting in the bunker and even got Angels Humphrey, Snowie & Posie to attend - they were actually having a pawty at the Rainbow Bridge and weren't best purrleased at the untimely summons!

But mew know its really nice that they all care enough about me to go to those lengths, but I have to say this to them...

... and then I reverted instantly back to my normal self in less than 0.2 seconds... and was all sweetness and light once again!

Mew know I really hate to shout but sometimes it's the only way!

Now I think it's time to share this weeks book as I think I just strained a vocal cord.

This week I'm sharing

The Ghost of Christmas Paws

  • The No 2 Feline Detective Agency BK IIII
  • by
  • Mandy Morton

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

It's a week before Christmas and Hettie and Tilly set out on a very dangerous case for The No. 2 Feline Detective Agency. Lady Eloise Crabstock-Singe has summoned them to Crabstock Manor in the village of Porthladle on the Cornish Coast to solve the mystery of Christmas Paws, a servant cat who haunts the Manor intent on killing off all the Crabstocks.

*    *    *

Mew may remember that I have reviewed all previous books in this series:

The No 2 Feline Detective Agency

Cat Among The Pumpkins

The Death of Downton Tabby

This is another great read, the characters just get better and better as the series progresses.

And this time the hardened detective's Hettie and Tilly are summoned to deepest, darkest Cornwall and the infamous Bodkin Moor to assist an ailing kitty who believes that she is next on a hit-list to purrmanently eradicate her furrmily.

There are many trials and tribulations in this story as its set midwinter, making effurything so much harder to solve when there's a raging blizzard outside and snow so deep in places your ears barely peek out!

The myriad of twists and turns as the plot hurtles along keeps mew on your paws and there are many things to make mew wunder what is actually going on, but mew know I can't say anymore as it would spoilerize it far too much - howeffur I can say this, it is all revealed at the end and your deductions are purrobably right! MOL

All in all, another top read or listen from the No 2 Feline Detective Agency, I cannot recommend this series enough, but if mew haven't read any yet, start at the beginning as mew'll see how the characters evolve.

Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #64 featuring Here Comes The Easter Cat

Welcome To

With me, Amber ~ The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Supurr salutations pawesome furriends

*waves paw*

Hello my beautiful furriends, I do most sincerely hope that mew all had a totally terrific Easter. Mine turned out better than expected as, if mew recall Basil was tormenting me last week by saying I couldn't have any of the secret formula nip Easter eggs that they'd made, aftur finding Humphrey's secret recipe in his old lab.

Well, let me tell mew, I was not bothered in the slightest and asked the P.A. rather nicely if it would be pawsible to have another treat instead of nip eggs.

Let me tell mew, that really earned me some brownie points as the P.A. thinks I'm taking my new exercise regime to another level by reducing treats - little does she know I have 30+ boxes of Dreamies stashed in a secret room behind one of the bookcases in the library.  That's why I have library mice, they protect my stash from others and I pay them in choc chip cookies, a total bargain.

So anyhoo, the P.A. thinks I've voluntary reduced my calorific intake all on my lonesome and she's thrilled, so much so that she rewarded me with books - YES OMC mew read that right, she bought me 4 new books and I'm sharing one with mew today.

So lets hop to it as I think it's time to share more of this weeks book.

This week I'm sharing

Here Comes The Easter Cat

Here's the book blurb:

Why should the Easter Bunny get all the love? That's what Cat would like to know. So he decides to take over: He dons his sparkly suit, jumps on his Harley, and roars off into the night. But it turns out delivering Easter eggs is hard work. And it doesn't leave much time for naps (of which Cat has taken five-no, seven). So when a pooped-out Easter Bunny shows up, and with a treat for Cat, what will Cat do? His surprise solution will be stylish, smart, and even-yes-kind.

*    *    *

A few weeks ago mew may remember that I reviewed, Here Comes Valentine Cat.  Well I saw that there were several other books in this series and I added this one to my 'to buy list' and guess what I got it instead of an Easter Egg, I didn't need the extra calories anyway and as I said earlier this book is completely calorie-free! MOL

It is totally adorable, full of delightful illustrations and a really cute, but meaningful story.

If mew have younger children, or nieces, nephews, grand-kids etc, then this would be an ideal Easter book just fur them.

I think the author has a great formula wurking here and I will share more in the series as they're just too cute not to!

Seriously though mew don't need kids to buy this book, buy it fur yourselves and enjoy, give the kids another egg! MOL

Wordy on Wednesday with Biblio-Kitty Amber #63 featuring The Kitty Who Rescued Me After I Rescued Him

Welcome To

With me, Amber ~ The Self-Appointed Biblio-Kitty

Supurr salutations pawesome furriends

*waves paw*

Welcome to another beautiful Wednesday on the blog, and I understand that Basil has been spreading vishus rumours about the P.A. imposing a mandatory exercise regime on me, well let me set the record straight today.  BTW that conversation was supposed to be private, and I'll be having wurds with Basil when he finally comes out of hiding in his private office in the secret bunker. [PUSSY!]

So anyhoo, this mandatory exercise regime which has been supposedly imposed on my magnificent purrsonage has yet to materialize due to unforeseen factors such as:

I've been avoiding the P.A. and really giving her the run around.

When the P.A. does eventually find me and tries to escort my fluffy purrsonage from a laying down position, which is my norm and into the kitty gym; I go into puddle-mode, spreading my pawesome curvaceousness as flat as pawsible and then I make myself really heavy, thus making it furry difficult to scoop me up.

If the P.A. does manage to get a firm yet gentle grip on me, I make myself really stiff and tense so her gripping points change, and while she's adjusting her purrchase on me and I seamlessly revert back into puddle-mode resulting in:

The P.A. - NiL POINT

Amber - 10/10

MOL! MOL! MOL!

**Furstly I have to let mew all know that I was given a free copy of this book in exchange fur a fair review**

Now today I have a gorgeous book to share with mew and just look what it said inside!

I think it's time to share this weeks review, keep scrolling...

Here's this weeks top book pick

Amber's purrsonal copy

The Kitty

Who Rescued Me
After I Rescued Him

Here's the book blurb:

Shawn Flynn and his fiancée are excited to start their new life together. They are planning a wedding and have bought a new home. The last thing the two of them need right now is a new cat.

But their recently purchased house seems to come complete with a stray orange feline—a cat with a vibrant personality and a talent for mousing. So Shawn soon finds himself with a regular companion. Little does he realize that this cat will shortly become more important to him than he can possibly imagine.

As Shawn’s personal life begins to shift in ways he never saw coming, Kitty remains a constant source of stability and comfort. Shawn gave Kitty a home, and now Kitty gives Shawn the love he needs to heal.

In the spirit of James Bowen's bestseller A Street Cat Named Bob, THE KITTY is a touching and inspiring story of heartfelt companionship that offers an uplifting perspective on what it means to find true friendship in this world. Anyone who has ever shared a meaningful connection with a pet will fall head over heels in love with Kitty and Shawn.

As Shawn discovers, sometimes we don’t even realize we need to be rescued—until we are.

*    *    *

Well where to begin, though not a long book it is a truly beautiful story that can't help but make mew smile and bring a huge ray of sunshine to your day.

There were many passages in the book to resonate with if mew love cats, especially how Kitty's fursibs came along, and that Kitty was the single determining factor in Shawn's desire to help other abandoned felines as the story unfolds.

The relationship between Shawn and Kitty is very sweet and as most peeps know, there's no other kitty more special than the furry furst one that adopts mew.  Those purrticular kitties always leave mew with the biggest hole in your heart when their time finally comes, just ask the P.A. about C.J.Catkin.  But I digress, as I read the book there so many things that really made me smile, as mew realize that bond between some kitties and hoomans is just incredibly amazing.

Although there are a few sad parts with life's inevitable ups and downs.  I think this heartwarming tale is absolutely delightful and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, I feel blessed that Shawn sent me an email a few weeks ago and asked if I would review it, because if he hadn't I think I would have missed out on a total gem!

Thank mew furry much Shawn fur sharing your marvellous story with me and in turn, all my fabulous furriends.

My advice is, read it, mew'll be so glad mew did!

I loved it!
