Love To Read? Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #172 featuring **Zombies Don't Eat Catnip** by Tiffani Burkett PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library ©BionicBasil®

Hello gorgeous library guests

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ and happy October the furst!

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and now I know it was Meow Like a Pirate Day a couple of weeks ago and I was still on my summer break, but I found this in the photo archives from 2016 and just had to share!

Ginger tabby in pirate hat, cute cat in pirate hat, the cat in a hat,

As always, I've got my supurr happy face on! MOL

Also many apologies for not posting on Wednesday, Parsley wasn't well and had to go to the vet as he's had a bit of a sloppy/cow-pat bum for a few days and our probiotics etc... didn't clear it up. He's been his normal self, eating, playing, loving his brush time every evening, apart from the cow-pat bum.

Anyhoo, there's no blood or mucus in the poop, the poop is normal colour, he hasn't lost any weight, he has no temperature, and the vet couldn't find anything during the examination. So he was administered a steroid and B12 injection and some paste to put on his food for 3 days to see if we can firm him up. If that doesn't wurk, then it will be poop samples to the lab, to see if it's a bacterial infection.

Poor Mr Sauce, so if mew can send some POTP his way that would be epic!

Moving on and away from poop, Melvyn is here today with his first review of the new season, and what a fabulous book he's sharing with mew today.

1. So far this year, I have accomplished _________.

2. My plans for October include _________ and _________.

3. _________ maybe difficult, but it's worth it.

4. I don't think I'll ever master _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. So far this year, I have accomplished nothing of notable significance - see #2.

2. My plans for October include (trying to) editing and partially rewiting a novel. It's getting a refresh and I'm moderately excited, given that I've been suffering from acute apathy, mental exhaustion and creative block since my accident. Since 2019 I've been on a roller coaster of lows, lower lows and extreme apathy/disinterest/generally feeling uninspired. Which is the polar opposite of my normal state of being, so it's been very hard to deal with, and although I've been trying to push through this state of inertia, the harder I try to be the old me, the more exhausted I become. It is a very frustrating situtation. Blogging friends, if I'm honest, I've been/am really struggling.

3. I suppose right now, in this moment, I'm going to say: Blogging maybe difficult, but it's worth it. If I hadn't had this creative outlet I think I would have gone nuts. Even though right now, I feel like I'm failing and not delivering the content I should, but I am showing up and there is content, which means at least I still have some structure going on.

4. I don't think I'll ever master SEO and the art of useful hashtags. Whatever!

Zombies Don't Eat Catnip

by

Tiffani Burkett

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

When the Slow Walkers showed up, Clutch the Calico had no idea her humans would be so bad at not getting eaten. From power outages to shopping trips, saving Greg and his six-year-old daughter from the undead quickly turned into a full time job. But if Clutch doesn't want to lose her supply of Furrtastic Feast and cuddles, she'll do whatever it takes to keep her humans safe.

**Furstly I have to let mew all know that I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair review**

Hello epic furiends, Melvyn here *waves paw*, and have I got a great book for mew today!

When Amber told me about this book I couldn't wait to my mittens on it, a Zombie apocalypse, YEAH, that sounds like a job for The B Team! HOOAH!

The story is told from a cats-eye-view of Clutch the Calico, as a zombie outbreak occurs in their hometown, and the capable calico has to engage all her feline prowess to save her family from the newly risen undead.

Mew know I can't do spoilers, as Amber will dock my non-existent wage packet, but I will say this; Clutch is a supurr cool feline, who loves her Furrtastic Feast noms, her hu-dad and small-hu-sibling. She's smart, resourceful and funny and is an expert at outwitting the dimwit zombies and I think she'd make a pawesome memfur of The B Team.

I really enjoyed this book, it's a great read and I hope the author writes a sequel or two, as Clutch's adventures are epically entertaining.

A top read and my recommendation is, definitely try it!

Many thanks to the author for sending us a copy.

Love To Read? Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #161 featuring **The London Eye Mystery** by Siobhan Dowd PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library ©BionicBasil®

Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and this week I was fortunate enough to discover the catnip hearts in the conservatory. They'd been hiding in the bottom condo of the tall cat tree in the corner, and I was the lucky finder.

Book Reviews with Amber #161 ©BionicBasil® No I Don't have A Catnip Purroblem

And before mew ask, no, I don't have a catnip purroblem!

After I'd nodded off on the sofa, Melvyn then found them and promptly slobbered all over them, rendering them extremely icky and most definitely untouchable!

Oh, and he started to rip the bottom out of the snuggle buddy the other day too, the P.A. just managed to save it before this happened again. #thuglife

I'm going to have serious wurds with Basil next time he pops in from the RB about his great, great, great-nephews issues, anyhoo enough of that, I do hope mew're all having an epic week, and I can't wait to share this week's books, so let's hop to it.

The London Eye Mystery

by

Siobhan Dowd

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

11.32am. Ted and his sister Kat watch their cousin Salim get on board the London Eye. The pod rises from the ground, high above the city.

12.02am. The pod lands and the doors open. Everyone exits - everyone but Salim.

Has he spontaneously combusted? (Ted's theory.)
Has he been kidnapped? (Aunt Gloria's theory.)
Is he even still alive? (The family's unspoken fear.)

Even the police are baffled - so it's up to Ted, whose brain runs on its own unique operating system, to solve this mystery and find Salim.

Amber's Book Review Mice Divider ©BionicBasil®

Today for a change, I'm sharing a young adult novel with mew, which has a really well thought out plot and is a superbly executed book; even Fudge wanted in on the action, his tail nearly managed to engulf it and sneak it away - steady on there dude!

Ted, our protagonist is autistic and is utterly brilliant in his reasoning, and deduction skills, an ability which others don't possess; mew know I don't do spoilers though I will say his character is tremendously well written, as are all the characters in this novel. The story is very compelling and a proper page-turner as Ted slowly puts the pieces together of his cousin's strange and seemingly impossible disappearance.

It is a really intriguing mystery with excellently crafted suspense, so if mew love a roller coaster ride, then mew'll really enjoy this. And I can definitely say I want to read more by this author.

Top paw!

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #149 Catmas Edition featuring **The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch** by Tom Fletcher PLUS Friendly Fill-Ins

Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library Catmas Edition ©BionicBasil®

Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today and oh my goodness it's nearly here, only one more week to go.

Sadly this year things aren't going according to plan, the P.A. and dad ordered some lovely hampers for their staff with the delivery date of 16th December, they are now 2 days late and no one answers the phone or emails at the company where they were ordered from so that is really irksome. They usually get Marks and Spencers or John Lewis hampers but this year the hampers were so rubbish they tried somewhere new, what a cluster fluff. So the P.A. feels really bad if they don't get delivered in time, and she did mutter several unspeakables which obviously I can't repeat here.

Also, we've been decorating the tree this week and here's the ameowzing Catmas pudding again, which I was furst to clamber on and get those delicious catnip holly leaves! MOL #epicfun

Book Reviews with Amber #149 ©BionicBasil® Getting Some Catmas Pudding a

I'm going to get snuggled on the supurr comfy pudding and have a snooze in a minute, well I am a senior and do need extra Z's these days, though if mew have any pressing queries while I'm snoring just ask Melvyn, he's down in the Military Vehicles section drooling over an Oshkosh L-ATV, which for those that aren't in know is a light combat tactical all-terrain vehicle. Also, I think he's writing to Santa Paws to see if he can get one delivered for Catmas.

Good luck with that dude, if I were mew I'd just borrow Parsley's credit card and go order one, but don't tell Parsley I said that! MOL MOL

The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch

by

Tom Fletcher

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

One year has passed since William Trundle's incredible adventure with the most extraordinary dinosaur: the Christmasaurus. Now, William is swept back to the magical North Pole, where he meets the mysterious, icy Winter Witch - whose power to control time allows Santa Claus to make the long journey all around the world every Christmas Eve.

And when they learn that the fate of Christmas itself hangs in the balance, William and the Christmasaurus must work with the Winter Witch to protect it...

Amber's Book Review Mice Divider ©BionicBasil®

Yes, I know it's not a book with a cat, but as it's Catmas I thought I share a Catmassy book and this was the furst one my paws fell on in the library this week when I went to search for something to share. In fact, I did buy this to share last year but ended up sharing my top book picks for Catmas 2019 instead.

Anyhoo, this is a fab middle-grade kids book brimming with magic and all things fun for the festive season and in the hardback version I've got its full of lovely illustrations. so, if mew like your dinosaurs and magic this will be a definite winner, and this is the second book in the series, I haven't read the furst but I shall add it to he library in the new year.

So if mew're looking for a cool gift for grandkids, nieces, nephews etc... this could be the ideal book to give.
