Hello gorgeous library guests
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ and happy October the furst!
Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and now I know it was Meow Like a Pirate Day a couple of weeks ago and I was still on my summer break, but I found this in the photo archives from 2016 and just had to share!
Also many apologies for not posting on Wednesday, Parsley wasn't well and had to go to the vet as he's had a bit of a sloppy/cow-pat bum for a few days and our probiotics etc... didn't clear it up. He's been his normal self, eating, playing, loving his brush time every evening, apart from the cow-pat bum.
Anyhoo, there's no blood or mucus in the poop, the poop is normal colour, he hasn't lost any weight, he has no temperature, and the vet couldn't find anything during the examination. So he was administered a steroid and B12 injection and some paste to put on his food for 3 days to see if we can firm him up. If that doesn't wurk, then it will be poop samples to the lab, to see if it's a bacterial infection.
Poor Mr Sauce, so if mew can send some POTP his way that would be epic!
Moving on and away from poop, Melvyn is here today with his first review of the new season, and what a fabulous book he's sharing with mew today.
Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. So far this year, I have accomplished _________.
2. My plans for October include _________ and _________.
3. _________ maybe difficult, but it's worth it.
4. I don't think I'll ever master _________.
The P.A.'s answers are...
1. So far this year, I have accomplished nothing of notable significance - see #2.
2. My plans for October include (trying to) editing and partially rewiting a novel. It's getting a refresh and I'm moderately excited, given that I've been suffering from acute apathy, mental exhaustion and creative block since my accident. Since 2019 I've been on a roller coaster of lows, lower lows and extreme apathy/disinterest/generally feeling uninspired. Which is the polar opposite of my normal state of being, so it's been very hard to deal with, and although I've been trying to push through this state of inertia, the harder I try to be the old me, the more exhausted I become. It is a very frustrating situtation. Blogging friends, if I'm honest, I've been/am really struggling.
3. I suppose right now, in this moment, I'm going to say: Blogging maybe difficult, but it's worth it. If I hadn't had this creative outlet I think I would have gone nuts. Even though right now, I feel like I'm failing and not delivering the content I should, but I am showing up and there is content, which means at least I still have some structure going on.
4. I don't think I'll ever master SEO and the art of useful hashtags. Whatever!
Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!
This week's top book pick is...
Zombies Don't Eat Catnip
by
Tiffani Burkett
Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:
When the Slow Walkers showed up, Clutch the Calico had no idea her humans would be so bad at not getting eaten. From power outages to shopping trips, saving Greg and his six-year-old daughter from the undead quickly turned into a full time job. But if Clutch doesn't want to lose her supply of Furrtastic Feast and cuddles, she'll do whatever it takes to keep her humans safe.
**Furstly I have to let mew all know that I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair review**
Hello epic furiends, Melvyn here *waves paw*, and have I got a great book for mew today!
When Amber told me about this book I couldn't wait to my mittens on it, a Zombie apocalypse, YEAH, that sounds like a job for The B Team! HOOAH!
The story is told from a cats-eye-view of Clutch the Calico, as a zombie outbreak occurs in their hometown, and the capable calico has to engage all her feline prowess to save her family from the newly risen undead.
Mew know I can't do spoilers, as Amber will dock my non-existent wage packet, but I will say this; Clutch is a supurr cool feline, who loves her Furrtastic Feast noms, her hu-dad and small-hu-sibling. She's smart, resourceful and funny and is an expert at outwitting the dimwit zombies and I think she'd make a pawesome memfur of The B Team.
I really enjoyed this book, it's a great read and I hope the author writes a sequel or two, as Clutch's adventures are epically entertaining.
A top read and my recommendation is, definitely try it!
Many thanks to the author for sending us a copy.

That's a really cute book and an excellent review. Tell the P.A. we enjoyed her answers. I really like you pirate hat too sweet Amber. We're all sending purrs and prayer to sweet Parsley too, we hope the all better shows up soon.
ReplyDeleteI am sending good thoughts for Parsley and hope the paste and shots help. I really do know what the PA means in #2. Although mine is for a different reason, try as I might I can't shake off the apathy that has taken a hold. I am so fed up with repeated scans and I detest the MRI although the CT doesn't bother me. The sheltering from Covid didn't help either. Now we have started to do things again, two short cruises in August and September and another this month for our 50th anniversary. It's no good sitting here waiting for the Grim Reaper to come and get me, he will do that in time any way, but hopefully not too soon.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great review Melvyn. You make a good pirate too, Amber.
Good review and the book sounds good too! Purrs or Parsley to feel better! Hopefully you too will soon feel better; don't worry about anything, blog when you are in the right mood and feel engaged with it!
