How's your week going?
We had a small fluttering of snow on Monday, but it fluffed off after a few minutes which we were really happy about. Although it has got a little colder.
We've been doing a little more snipping and pruning the garden and the P.A. has ordered some new perennial flowers from Thompson and Morgan*. We find they do some great stuff at a really good price, plus they do collections of plug plants; for instance a 72 cottage garden perennial selection is just £14.99 while on offer.
Which is fantastic value, as mew can pay approximately £7.99 for one foxglove at our local garden centres. We know having the plugs involves potting on and bringing the plants on, but if mew do the sums, 72 x £7.99 = £575.28 for garden ready plants, that's a lot of wonga. And we've found that quite a lot of garden ready blooms we've purchased over the years from garden centres don't survive, in fact some don't make the season, and we're experienced gardeners.
So for us it makes sense to buy the plug plants and nurture them until they're ready to go into the borders or pots. The plants come by post, and we know this puts some peeps off buying this way, but in the all the years of buying from them we've only had to contact them twice, once as the plants were accidently delivered to the neighbour next-door who was away and the plants died, as the courier left them on the front door step. And the next time, we ordered through a third party at QVC as it was cheaper than their website and the delivery took too long, but they replaced them no problem.
So if mew're thinking of adding new blooms, and mew're in the UK, take a look at their extensive catalogue. Plus they are now doing house plants, although we haven't purchased any of those yet.

ReplyDeleteFudge in the tree looks dapper, and he's making a striking pose up there!
I like the steampunk cats bandana! Fudge looks good up in the tree. I order from T&M too and have been mostly pleased. The twice they were no good I think it was more to do with the delivery. In 2020 I ordered garden ready begonias because they were on offer, but when they arrived the potting compost was all over the place had half had their top half broken off the root ball. They did refund my money after I sent a photo of the carnage. Another time my tomato plugs had the cardboard packaging ripped and they arrived shrivelled up and dead. I have gone back to growing my tomatoes from seed.
ReplyDeleteMelvyn, you look great. I choose steampunk for the next one.Fudge you need to get down. :)
ReplyDeleteY'all have sure been busy. Hey Fudge, you do look most proud and Melvyn, how about the Pink famingos next?
