Hello Supurr Library furiends
and
Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ
Many thanks for joining me in the stacks again, and this week it's been a little chilly, getting colder and colder as each day passes.
And there I was in the sitting room, and there was no fire in the woodburner! Honestly, mew couldn't write it, there I was waiting in the sitting room for that heat radiation to send me into a sleep coma and it was fluffing icicles in there.
I have penned a very long, and vehement letter to the staff citing my total horror of the internal ambient temperature being less than 21 degrees Celsius.
The P.A. promptly wrote back to me, well, I say promptly though it was two days later, (prompt for her) to advise me that if I found it a little chilly downstairs, that perhaps I'd like to retire upstairs where it is much warmer, and that my favourite snuggle blanket was on the sofa in the upstairs lounge waiting for me.
Seriously the nerve of it, all I want is a fire 24/7, blazing away in the sitting room downstairs, maintaining a totally tropical temperature of around 29 to 31 degrees Celsius!
IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
The P.A.'s answers are...
Bodies, Baddies, and a Crabby Tabby
A Bliss Bay Cozy Mystery Book 1
by
Sherri Bryan
Here's the book blurb:
Thirty-nine-year-old Megan Fallon is in a pickle. Not only is she suffering from empty-nest syndrome, but she's lost the job she loved, and her fiance's run off with her hairdresser.
A complete life change is what's called for, so when the opportunity to make a new start presents itself following news of a family celebration, Megan is lured back to her childhood home.
With a party to organize, old friends to catch up with, an ex-husband and his jealous wife to avoid, a mischievous uncle on the lookout for adventure, a clumsy childhood acquaintance who has undergone a startling transformation, and a cantankerous tabby cat to contend with, Megan has her hands full. However, what started off as a leisurely break soon takes a chilling turn when members of the community start getting bumped off at an alarming rate, and Megan finds herself at the heart of an investigation that has her suspecting everyone.
Have you heard of the Bliss Bay Cozy Mystery Series by Sherri Bryan? If not, mew're in for a treat! This series is filled with quirky characters, a charming English setting, and a crabby tabby who steals the show. Let's start with the cat, shall we? The crabby tabby, called Cat, is not your typical feline. He has a personality that is just as grumpy as his face, but you can't help but love him. He's always getting into trouble and causing chaos, but somehow manages to weasel his way out of trouble. He's definitely a fan favourite. The cast of characters is equally delightful. There's our protagonist, Megan Fallon, who is having a bit of a crisis after her fiance runs off with the hairdresser, her daughter leaves home and she finds herself at a crossroads in life when she loses her job. She also has a knack for solving mysteries. She's smart, determined, and has a heart of gold. And let's not forget about the friendly townspeople, who always seem to be up to something. The setting of Bliss Bay is picturesque and charming. It's a quaint village in the southwest of England, and the purrfect place for a cozy mystery series, and Sherri Bryan does a fantastic job of bringing it to life. Plus all the other characters who pop up or off throughout the story are well-penned and make a great supporting cast. Now, let's talk about the plot and pace. There's never a dull moment, and the pacing is just right with plenty of twists and turns throughout the story to keep mew guessing, who dunnit!? Mew won't be able to put the book down until mew've solved the mystery alongside Meghan and the gang. Overall, the Bliss Bay Cozy Mystery Series is a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries, cats, and small-town charm. Trust me, mew won't be disappointed!
A Top Paw Read
There are six books in the series, so plenty to go at over the winter months and I'll definitely be sharing more in the series soon. Plus mew can read them for free, if mew have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, and the audio version was a supurr pleasant listen, the narrator was great.
You need to keep those beautiful elder bones warm sweet Amber. Those were interesting fill-in answers and a most excellent review! Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteI am behind you one hundred percent
ReplyDeleteThanks for the book report, Amber.
ReplyDeleteTell your meowmy that while in New York City, I indulged in brownies from every patisserie we went near!
Not chocolate cake, but oh, so satisfying with a cup of Earl Grey tea.
Dear Amber, it sounds like you and the PA should move into warmer quarters. Just don't let the sello tape melt, mol. Thanks fur the book review.

Good fill ins and Amber, great review! I'd probably enjoy that book, as I have some experience with crabby tabbies myself!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great book, Amber! Do you want to come and stay for a while? We lit the log burner as soon as it got colder and it hasn't been out since. I can't guarantee 29C though, but would 23C be okay?
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds good! (I'm afraid you would be chilly at our house too!)
ReplyDeletePoor Amber. You should have your fire going all the time plus an electric blankie. Nice review, it looks like a fun series. Thank you to the PA for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. Definitely move your wrapping stuff so you can enjoy it. XO

ReplyDeleteA fire always burning would be nice, but think of the trees! We want to use them wisely, right?
ReplyDeleteGimmicky gifts are fine at a "white elephant" party, but not elsewhere.
The mystery sounds like a great read.
