WELCOME TO THE BBHQ NIGHTCLUB

 The Nip Nirvana Lounge

AND ANOTHER BBHQ RAVE!!!

BBHQ Night Club ©BionicBasil®

SHAKE YOUR PAWS IN THE AIR LIKE MEW JUST DON'T CARE!

Welcome to The Nip Nirvana Lounge, our nightclub on Level 11 of the Bunker. We are proud to host another epically epic birthday rave and look forward to providing mew with a highly memorable experience.

We regret to inform you that Amber is still banned from managing the bar because of some prior issues at previous raves, the old lush. Though, we have taken the necessary measures to ensure mew receive the very best service while at BBHQ. Including building more kitty droids to serve mew from our extensive cocktail menu.

If mew feel peckish during your stay at The Nip Nirvana Lounge, mew can rely on Humphrey’s A.I. Replicator, conveniently located in the kitchen behind the bar. Peruse through the menu to select your desired snack or nibbles and place your order on the screen at the bar. And if mew wish to customise your order, choose the custom option on the screen and tell it want mew want. The kitty droids will deliver your order promptly.

Smooch and Pandora have curated a fantastic playlist featuring the best dance tracks from the ‘90s and early ‘00s. Mew are guaranteed to have a blast dancing to some of the most epic tunes from back in the day. Be mindful not to trip over Amber and Posie, who are currently indulging in the Blu-topia Mindbender nip cocktail. Humphrey has been busy brewing more catnip beer in his laboratory, which we debuted at Smooch’s Birthday pawty last year, but he says he's now made it even more potent! YIKES!  According to Parsley, it’s an extra fizzy delight that will blow your fur off.

I am currently sampling it, along with the Tangerine Blast nip cocktail as a chaser. Mew can also find the Orange Sunburst Utopia nip cocktail on the drinks menu at the bar, I just had one of those earlier, and I must say it is ameowzing! MOL

For those who enjoy catnip, we have all varieties available, including our homegrown primo-fur-fluffer. We had a new strain called Nutty Fluff-Face launched at Basil’s pawty last month, and by all indications, it’s one of our strongest varieties to date! However, please be cautious as Parsley tried it earlier, and he literally ended up on the ceiling (PAH – What a lightweight pussy! MOL!) And in honour of my birthday this year, Humphrey created a new strain called, THE FLOOF EXPLOSION, so if mew're up for trying new things, this might be right up your alley... just see what happened to my tail on The Midweek News! MOL

Currently, Basil and Snowie are too nipped out to care and are dancing up a storm all around the nightclub. It’ll be a conga line in no time, so get ready to grab a tail!

Melvyn has set up the hubbly bubbly pipes just around the corner from the dance floor, where mew can unwind and relax on some sumptuous velvet floor cushions. The kitty droids will be ready to refill your nip supply whenever mew need it and deliver snacks right to your furbulously nipped-out and epically reclined location.

The entrance foyer features litter cubicles for your convenience. We have separate facilities for girls and boys, with the left door designated for girls and the right door designated for boys.

F.Y.I.

It is essential to avoid wandering around the bunker and investigating rooms which don’t need investigating! As we do not want anyone getting lost or accidentally releasing the Magical Menagerie on Level 16 (or the Kraken.... again). Some of the magical creatures escaped again the other day, and we are not sure if all of them have returned yet, as we have been too busy organising the pawty to do a propurr headcount. So, if mew come across any weird and wonderpurr creatures, it is not due to the nip, or the number of beverages mew have consumed.

And with that, I am headed to the bar. If mew would like a catnip beer, please feel free to join me!

WOOO HOOOOOO DUDES & DUDETTES RAVE ON!

We do hope mew all have an EPIC time at the rave, and if mew need to chill, we have allocated the Crystal Room as the zen-zone which is now located next to the nightclub; just head back out into the corridor, take a left, and it's the next door along, so mew can have a snooze, take five or just crash completely.

Thanks for coming, mew know how much we love to pawty and celebrate with all our supurr besties!

Fudge xx

Hello fubulous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today, and as mew can see I'm supurr snuggled in a fresh blanky, as while it's been sunny, the wind has been very cold this week and so I insisted that the heating is on all the time and a fire too, as mew can imagine what it's like when mew're older and the cold makes mew literally seize up and come to a total stand-still! MOL

So my top trick is to have the temperature set to totally tropical, and everything is ok! MOL

Anyhoo, what books have mew been reading this week?

Apart from this week's top pick, I've also read:

Monster Hunter Memoir: Fever (BK 4) by Larry Correia

Noise Floor (BK 7) The Vinyl Detective Series by Andrew Cartmel

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams

The 6:20 Man by David Baldacci

As mew can see I don't just read books about cats! MOL

Today the P.A. is also joining in Friday Fill-ins Blog Hop with the pawesome 15 & Meowing and Four-Legged Furballs.
1. A remake of _______________________ would be fun.
2. My favourite cartoon character is _________________.
3. I wish I had better _________ skills so that I could _________.
4. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made with _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. A remake of the 1980s movie Flash Gordon would be fun. I started to watch the series a while back, but sadly, it lacked everything that made the original series and subsequent movie fun. Saturday mornings in the 1970s always had a black-and-white episode of the original on the TV, and I've always loved sci-fi stuff. The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy would have been another choice, as the movie of that book was truly lacking the subtleties that Douglas Adams created, and what made the book fabulous.

2. My favourite cartoon character is Moomintroll from The Moomins. I loved the books when I was younger and loved the cartoon series just as much. Funnily enough, I recently saw that you can subscribe to something to build a Moomin house, which looked really fun.

3. I wish I had better knitting skills so that I could actually knit stuff, but alas poor Yorick, twas not meant to be! LOL

4. I’m proud of the progress I’ve finally made with The B Team's adventures. Claws of Terror was really fun to write after a five-year dry spell. It was dryer than the Gobi Desert, and several times throughout that time period, I actually did wonder if I would ever be able to write a new one. But during the process I realised how much I missed their disaster magnet adventures! LOL

 Look Both Ways

A WITCH CITY MYSTERY BOOK 3

by

Carol J. Perry

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

In Salem, Massachusetts, there are secrets everywhere--even in the furniture. . .

When Lee Barrett spots the same style oak bureau she once had as a child on the WICH-TV show, Shopping Salem, she rushes to the antiques shop and buys the piece. Just like the beloved bureau she lost in a fire, this one has secret compartments. It also comes with an intriguing history--it was purchased in an estate sale from a home where a famous local murder took place.

The day after the bureau is delivered, Lee returns to the antiques shop and finds the owner dead. The police suspect the shop owner's unscrupulous business partner, but Lee wonders if the murder is connected to her new furniture.

If mew remember, a while back I reviewed book one in this series; Caught Dead Handed, so if mew missed the start, click here to catch up. And click here to catch up on book two's review, Tails. You Lose.

Look Both Ways is an exciting and captivating mystery novel set in the historic city of Salem, Massachusetts, famed for its witchy history. In this adventure, our heroine, Lee Barrett, discovers a beautiful oak bureau that looks exactly like the one she cherished as a child. The bureau has secret compartments that pique her interest, and she can't resist buying it, as it's a fond reminder of her childhood.

However, things take a rather sinister turn as not long after the bureau is delivered, Lee returns to the antique shop and finds the owner dead. The preliminary prime suspect is the shop owner's former business partner, but Lee thinks her new furniture and a 10ct pink diamond that belonged to the bureau's previous owner, which went missing after the murder are related to the latest crime. Lee decides to use the bureau to investigate the crime and discovers that it has a tarnished and blackened mirror that allows her to tap into her psychic visions.

As she digs further into the unfolding mystery, she uncovers more secrets about the bureau's history and the myriad of people connected to it. The story is full of unexpected twists and turns, and the tension and suspense keep mew on the edge of your seat until the very end. The characters are well-developed and likeable, plus, as it's book three, we get to learn more about them, and the setting is richly described, bringing the historic city of Salem to life. O'Ryan, the cat, is front and centre, and his abilities start to shine through in this story, and mew know how much I love it when the kitties start to shine! MOL

Look Both Ways is a well-written and engaging cozy cat mystery novel with a hint of paranormal elements that will keep mew entertained until the very last page. So if mew're looking for a great read, this book is definitely worth your time.

There are fourteen books in the series, and if mew are subscribed to Kindle Unlimited these are all available in the catalogue to read for free, and if mew have Audible, the first three are included free in the Plus Catalogue as part of your subscription.

**FELINE FICTION FIX** Book Reviews with Amber at The Mewton-Clawson Library #274 featuring **The Cat Who Moved a Mountain** by Lilian Jackson Braun **PLUS** Friendly Fill-Ins Blog Hop

Amber's Book Reviews Banner ©BionicBasil® March 2023

Hello gorgeous library guests

and

Welcome to the Mewton-Clawson Library at BBHQ

Thank mew for joining me in the stacks today!

Jumping juniper berries I thought it was getting warmer, and then yesterday the cold and damp started to creep in, so I had to get myself right in front of the woodburner for maximum warms.

Book Reviews with Amber #195 ©BionicBasil® Amber Keeping Warm By The Woodburner

I don't know about mew, but I really tend to feel the cold more now I'm older. Even the P.A. noticed my paws felt cold the other day, so she held them until they warmed up, and then snuggled me in a fleece nest with my heat pad.

1. I refuse to spend more than ______________ for ____________.
2. I am not ashamed to admit __________________________.
3. I’ve been obsessed with _________ lately.
4. When someone tells me _________, I _________.

The P.A.'s answers are...

1. I refuse to spend more than I have to for anything. And I'm not opposed to a bit of haggling on the price where applicable. For instance, our twenty-five-year-old ride-on mower at work decided to go to mower heaven when Cat Dad got it out of the garage on Monday. It just died right there with no chance of resuscitation, and so we were left with no choice but to purchase a new one, the price was £3,000.00, but after some nifty negotiations the final figure was £1,500.00 plus a free mower cover - so sometimes it pays to ask; can we have a discount?

2. I am not ashamed to admit I love crystals. Ever since a primary school trip in the 1970s to a place called The Treak Cliff Cavern, or Blue John Mine in the Peak District and my first chunk of crystal, I've adored twinkly stones! LOL

3. I’ve been obsessed with alternative healing lately. I'm obsessed with it normally, but at the moment I'm doing a deep dive as I'm trying to manage menopause symptoms naturally.

4. When someone tells me six cats is too many, I reply in true B Team and BBHQ spirit with, FLUFF OFF!

Let's see what I've got to show mew this time!

Amber's Book Reviews #274 ©BionicBasil® The Cat Who Moved a Mountain by Lilian Jackson BraunMewton-Clawson Library Copy

The Cat Who Moved a Mountain

by

Lilian Jackson Braun

Here's a little snippet of the book blurb:

After five years of legal formalities, Jim Qwilleran has officially inherited his freedom and a fortune, which leaves him with a serious dilemma. What should he do now? Seeking a place of peace and isolation to make up his mind, he heads to the Potato Mountains for the summer. But Qwill lands in the middle of controversy, not solitude.

The mountains are a haven for the independent, roughneck descendants of Prohibition-era moon-shiners. The valley is home to developers eager to turn the pristine Potatoes into a giant tourist trap. To make matters more complicated, a Tater, as the mountain folk are called, has been convicted of the murder of millionaire developer J.J. Hawkinfield. Some people swear the wrong man was convicted, and Qwill is inclined to agree when he hears what transpired before the trial.

Amber's Book Review Mice Divider ©BionicBasil®

Today I thought I'd revisit (again) The Cat Who series by Lilian Jackson Braun. I reviewed The Cat Who Could Read Backwards in 2016 and The Cat Who Wasn't There in 2018, so I figured we were well overdue for one of these fab books.

Koko and Yum Yum the Siamese take a trip to the mountains with Qwill and wouldn't mew know it, they get caught up in murder, mystery and mayhem.

Mew know how much I love these books and often reread them, and this one is #13 in the series.

The author always managed to create such colourful characters and intriguing plotlines, and in this book, we get a new mountain setting where Qwill goes to ponder his future and finds himself amidst a crime that needs his investigative prowess to solve.

Lilian Jackson Braun in my purrsonal opinion was the originator of the Cozy Cat Mystery, she really was a fabulous writer, and what I really love about her books is that mew can finish them in a couple of days or so depending on what speed mew read and how many chapters mew like to read in one sitting.

Plus, there are 29 books in the entire series, and mew know how much I love a long series! MOL  If mew haven't read this one already, which I'm sure mew have, but if not, I can't recommend it enough. It's a really top-paw read and series.
