Furbulous Greetings Supurr Furiends
Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!
Well, it's been another mixed bag of weather again at BBHQ this week; in fact, we've had more gusty, blustery weather in the last two weeks than we've had all winter.
It's been a little bit overcast and cooler. However, the mainstream news headlines are threatening with a 'monstrous heatwave' over the next few days, good gravy, why do they have to sensationalise the weather all the time, like it's some evil omen? I can't catch my breath at the absurdity of it all.
Seriously, back in the day, the weather maps in the UK were green, and the weather person on the TV would place little stickers of clouds, sun, rain, wind, etc, and slap them on the map in the appropriate places.
Now, all the maps are a violent, threatening, life-ending shade of RED if the temperature gets above 22 degrees Celsius, like what the fluff?!
GET GRIP PEEPS!
Anyhoo, enough of that weather stuff, just look at what sprung up on the lawn at BBHQ last week.
We've got our very own Fairy Ring!
At this very moment, as we're typing, Cat Dad is out there with the mower, the P.A. did give him STRICT instructions not to decimate it - we'll let mew how that went next week! MOL
This Is NOT Parsley
Nope, this is not Parsley; this is Morty, who lives across the road, actually next door to Miss Fumpit. Honestly, anypawdy would think that BBHQ is a casual drop-in centre for all the Mewton-Clawson cats! MOL
And while we don't mind visitors at all, we do mind that somepawdy has decimated one of the catnip plants that was purposefully hidden in the vegetable garden away from the casual drop-ins... we're going to have to put it in a cage!
More Meautiful Roses Blooming At BBHQ
Every week, more and more of the roses bloom. Just look at this selection, just gorgeous!
The white ones, well, we have a confession to make. This is one of two stardard types, that were planted over twenty years ago, but sadly at the end of last year, they were looking a bit worse for wear, so the P.A. said to Cat Dat, "get the big loppers and butcher them, then in the Spring we'll take them out and plant new ones."
Well, mew could have dipped us in double cream, then rolled us in catnip, as we couldn't have been any more surprised when the dead-looking, severely scalped rose tree skeletons started sprouting new growth and, OH MY COD, have grown so much and are flowering like never before.
Seriously, the P.A. thought they were done for and going on the bonfire, but no, so the moral of the story is, if mew butcher your roses in winter, leave them in the ground, don't pull them up, and maybe they might sprut again the following Spring.
Anyhoo, let's look at this week's top headlines.
First up in the news this week
What Did Smooch Think To His Basket Getting Vacuumed?
Smooch's basket under the gazebo was vacuumed the other day, and he didn't like it. He wanted to know where his spider pals had gone! MOL
Next up in the news
Why Was Melvyn Was Sulking?
Yep, Melvyn was sulking... Amber will tell mew why.
Amber Snoozing On Her Favourite Blanket
Mew see this is Amber's favourite blanket, and Melvyn has taken a shine to it in recent weeks.
Amber is NOT pleased.
She has banned him from said blanket, but he has been sneaking on it when she's been snoozing in the catservatory.
Anyhoo, she's now told him that if he gets on it one more time, she's docking his pay at the library!

In Other News
Meanwhile, Fudge Was Nesting
So while all the furore over Amber's blanket was happening, Fudge continued to nest on his couch in his favourite blankets! MOL
Finally this week
Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick
Caticorns smashed it in the voting last week, so here's Melvyn doing what he does best!
Melvyn was being really playful while modelling this one, as mew can tell! MOL
And as he modelled this bandana way back in May 2023, we have videos to share again!
Check out Melvyn's videos on your favourite social media channel below:
Which one should he model next?
Here's the June Bandana collection, and we chose a really fun selection for mew this time.
And we've decided to give mew five to choose from again, even though we only needed four, OH MY COD, the utter excitement of it all! MOL
The June Collection:
1. Caticorn
2. Cakes for Cats
3. Psychedelic Feline
4. Bugs and Bugs
5. Mice Cream
Tell us your top pick for next week in the comments!
That's us done for today, Amber will be back on Friday with another fab book just for mew and more in the Prudence Saga, and if mew missed any other posts, here are the links:

Y'all are looking mighty fine. Howdy Morty!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing story about your white roses! They're looking great (and so are all of you, including visitor Morty). We love that fairy ring, and seeing Smooch, Amber, Fudge, and the sulking Melvyn. Speaking of Melvyn, how about Cakes for Cats next week? :)
ReplyDeletePurring that the impending heatwave is not too, too bad, sweet pals. Hugs!
Nice kitty pictures, and wow, look how all those roses 'took the hint'!
ReplyDeleteIs Monty a nip thief?
We like the bugs and bugs bandana...
It also annoys me how the weather people exaggerate everything. I am not surprised that the roses had a new lease of life. I once knew and elderly Swedish man who ran a market garden for 60 years. He told me that to get the best of roses was to think of them as your worst enemy and butcher them! I have always done that at the end of autumn and they always flourish.
ReplyDeleteMonty looks handsome. Maybe he is hoping you will mistake him for Parsley and invite him in for a meal. Maybe he is the nip thief.
Everyone looks very relaxed apart from sulking Melvyn and annoyed Smooch.
So many fabulous felines in the photos! We barely know what to say! #1 is asking if you remember Michael Fish? And we love your roses!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Darling pictures of the B-Team and the flowers all look wonderful too! We like #4, Bugs and Bugs, for next time!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kitties and beautiful flowers. Bravo.
ReplyDeleteI pick #5 for next week.
I linked this post to Wordless Wednesday.
Have a purrfect day and rest of the week. Scritches to all the kitties and a big hug to mom. ♥
Oh my word. You all look so good. And the roses! Incredible. We are having cold front following the weekend rain. It is going into June 20, our first day of summer and I feel we haven't had a proper Spring.
ReplyDeletewavez two ewe naybor morty…ewe iz one hansum houz panther….did ewe help set up de fairie ring 🌼🌼🍀🍀‼️😺🦋 everee onez lookin pawsum thiz week and sew due de flowerz in de PA’s gardin 🌸🌸🐾🐾🐾 melvyn dood, paws up at de moovveez plaze and itz cloze ta 90 heer two morrow sew eye will pix mice creem 💚💙💙💚‼️
ReplyDeleteSo much going on, so much drama! I've heard sometimes a rose bush needs a severe pruning to stimulate it.
ReplyDeleteAs for the weather people, they are seeking ratings so they can make more money on the advertising. I also sometimes wonder if they aren't concerned they'll be held accountable if they don't warn us sufficiently of damaging weather. Remember the scientists in Italy who were convicted when people died in an earthquake they failed to predict? The convictions were eventually overturned, but still.
Melvyn looks great in the caticorns, I'd still love to see him in those bugs.
Amber looks very content on her blankie. Nice shots of everyone. Beautiful roses too. XO
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses and the cats are adorable! Your blog header is so nice as well.
