We're off to bask in some sun puddles. It will be warm early on with a chance of a thunderstorm later, so we're getting in front and making sure some basking is happening before we head back to the pawty in the bunker for another wild night.

Mew can guess exactly what our tripawed dude is doing today. Yep, Smooch is waiting for his roast beef; seriously, his internal clock is extraordinary! MOL

Join us again tomorrow when we're back with Meowing on Monday and a bit of Cat Chat!

We do hope mew have an epic day, and remember to always...

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ~ Fudge is Reclining while Pandora is Meatloafing, Smooch is Schlumping and Melvyn's Wearing This Weeks Surprise Bandana

Midweek News Round Up with The B Team ©BionicBasil® Winter Banner 2022

Epic Wednesday Greetings Furiends

Welcome to the BBHQ midweek news round-up!

How's your week going?

We've had a busy few days at BBHQ, and we finally managed to herd the P.A. outside to start some rose pruning on Caturday. Luckily it was not bad weather-wise at an incredibly heady 12C or 53.6F.

So she spent about four hours pruning many of the BBHQ roses, though, at about 4pm, she turned to Fudge and said, "Dude, I've had enough now. I'm going indoors!"

Can mew believe it?

Fudge replied, "But mew haven't pruned the two standard roses, or any of the rambling roses on the fence yet. And let's not forget the three shrub roses either!"

Seriously, mew just can't get the staff!

Anyhoo, we've made a deal with her, that if she completes the pruning this weekend, we may (may - being a very loose interpretation) buy her something for her birthday on Monday, though we're not promising as Amber's thrashed Parsley's credit card again and all funds are currently locked down - but the P.A. doesn't know any of this! MOL

First up in the news

Fudge is Reclining, while Pandora is Meatloafing

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Fudge is Reclining, while Pandora is Meatloafing

Fudge was enjoying a really relaxing time on the sofa the other day; just look at that supurr, reclining pose!

While Pandora was in her classic and well-loved meatloafing and completely oblivious to all snoozing position.

Next up in the news

 Smooch is Schlumping

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Smooch is Schlumping

When Smooch sits like this, for want of a better expression, like a sack of spuds. We call him Schlumpy Smooch.

We did just go and check the official definition of SCHLUMP, as we thought we'd better do a bit of recon just in case it was offensive because so many seemingly ordinary words can now have many connotations, some of which may not be what we think they are.

So the definition of Schlump from www.dictionary.com is:

a dull, colourless person

a slovenly person; slob

verb (used without object)
to loaf or idle

Obviously, the first two are not applicable to Smooch, as he's definitely not any of those; however, the third, when used as a verb without object, is bang on the money, to loaf or idle, and fits the criteria perfectly.

So if mew're ever looking for a fun word to describe general loafing, schlumping is the way to go! MOL

And finally this week

Melvyn's Modelling The Top Bandana Pick

Today, Melvyn is modelling the Surprise Lucky Clover bandana; it was chosen at random because we didn't check how many Wednesdays were in January and we fluffed up! MOL

The BBHQ Midweek News Round-Up ©BionicBasil® Melvyn Modelling The Surprise Lucky Clover Bandana

We think he looks epically fluffing lucky, and we've just remembered that it's St Paddy's Day in March, so now we're going to have to find some other lucky bandanas to share then! MOL

Check out his videos on your preferred social media channel:

Which one should he model next?

We did have to go back into the bandana archive to find this selection, as sadly, the P.A. didn't have time to make any new ones.

Wow!  What a truly pawesome place to visit, we enjoyed every moment, and mew can tell Melvyn loved it! MOL

Mew know how much we love ancient standing stones and stone circles, see our previous trips to:

Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:

Greetings fellow travellers and history lovers!

We had the purrleasure of visiting The Ring of Brodgar, (it sounds like an epic fantasy novel! MOL) an ancient and fascinating site located at Stenness on the Orkney Islands in Scotland, and we cannot wait to share our experience with mew. This paw-inspiring site was built over 4,500 years ago during the Neolithic period and consists of 27 imposing standing stones arranged in a perfect circle with a diameter of just under 104 metres, it is absolutely colossal. Originally there were approximately 60 stones. Each stone is unique and massive, some standing as tall as 4.5 metres, others vary from 2.1 metres tall, and they are arranged in a very precise manner that showcases the incredible engineering and architectural skills of the ancient peoples who built it. The Ring of Brodgar is not only an impressive feat of engineering, but it also has a deep historical and cultural significance. While the exact purpose of the site is still a mystery, historians believe that it was likely used for religious and ceremonial purposes, as well as being a prehistoric astronomical observatory. The site's location, near the stunning Loch of Harray, only adds to its meauty and mystique. Visiting The Ring of Brodgar is an experience that will leave mew in awe. The site's sheer scale and the surrounding natural meauty are breathtaking. The area is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, otters, and seals, which only adds to the charm and uniqueness of the location. Additionally, the site's proximity to other notable sites such as the Standing Stones of Stenness and the Maeshowe chambered tomb make it a must-visit for anypawdy interested in ancient history or archaeology. If mew're planning a trip to Scotland, we highly recommend adding The Ring of Brodgar to your itinerary. It's a remarkable piece of history and a beautiful location that will provide mew with a deep appreciation for the ancient peoples who built it and the natural beauty of the Orkney Islands.

And on another note, Scotch Mist is definitely REAL! MOL

We're off to get the bunker ready again, as the last couple of night peeps have been letting fireworks off willy-nilly like total lemmings!

Seriously, we can't believe that in this day and age when nearly everything is banned from sale, the authorities still allow the public to purrchase fireworks, like what the fluffing fluff? Are they mad?

Look, we're not opposed to fireworks as long as they're at an organised event being carried out safely. Not some total flufftard letting them off in the back garden. And with all the health and safety protocols thrust upon us in modern times, it really begs belief that they are still for sale, truly, it makes no sense on any level.

If mew'd like to see our Guy Fawkes post, click here to view.

Amber has this to say:

Smooch is camped out by the oven right now in anticipation of lunch at 1pm. And this afternoon we may watch a movie, or if the weather is clement for the time of year, we may go on a little garden safari before we go and barricade ourselves on level 8 of the Bunker.

Do join us again tomorrow, when we're back with another episode of Cats Have Problems Too, and check out this week's Despurrate Dilemma.

We do hope mew have an epic day, and remember to always...

The B Team's Chillingham Castle Selfie on The Sunday Selfies Blog Hop **PLUS** Smooch's UK Historical Travel Guide

Halloween Selfie Banner ©BionicBasil® October 23

Spooky Sunday greetings furiends

Welcome to another BBHQ selfie selection, this week we decided to visit Cillingham Castle, purrported to be the U.K.'s most haunted castle! EEEEEK!

Anyhoo, we were really lucky that it was a meautiful sunny day when we visited way back in the summer, so it didn't seem that spooky at all, although on a dark, misty moonless night, we can imagine what a fright-fest it would be!

The B Team's Chillingham Castle Selfie

The B Team's Chillingham Castle Selfie ©BionicBasil® The Sunday Selfies Blog Hop and Smooch's UK Historical Travel Guide

It is such a lovely place to visit, and we had the best day, although Melvyn and Fudge did want to explore the dungeons further, but I said no, because the longer we're down here, the more likely one of mew fruitcakes will end up getting an unpurrleasant entity attached to mew and be bringing it back to BBHQ, and we have enough ghosts of our own already!

Anhoo, if mew love spooky goings on, check out the TV show, Most Haunted and their trip to Chillingham Castle

Here's a little bit of info from BBHQ's Historical Travel Guide, Smooch:

During our recent visit to Chillingham Castle in Northumberland, UK, we were enthralled by the sheer magnitude of its history. Built over 800 years ago during the reign of King Edward I in the 12th Century, Chillingham Castle has stood the test of time and witnessed a great deal of historical events.
Over the centuries, the castle has been home to many noble families, each of whom left their mark on the castle's architecture and design. The castle's construction is an impressive mix of Norman, Gothic, and Tudor styles, adding to its charm and grandeur. And there have been many battles fought in the area surrounding the castle over the centuries. However, what makes Chillingham Castle truly unique is its reputation as the most haunted castle in the UK. The castle's walls have witnessed some of the most gruesome and horrifying fates, and it is said that the spirits of former residents, prisoners, and victims still haunt its halls. One of the most famous ghostly figures is that of the 'Blue Boy,' who was bricked up alive in a chamber known as the Pink Room as a punishment for his disobedience. Visitors have reported seeing the apparition of the boy wandering the halls of the castle, or a blue flash of light in the area where his body was found, and some have even claimed to have felt his cold touch.
Another chilling tale is that of the White Pantry Ghost, a lady in white who appears in the castle's pantry and asks for water, a creepy story is on the Chillingham Castle website. Those who have seen her claim that she disappears before their eyes, leaving behind a sense of unease. Despite its haunted reputation, Chillingham Castle is a fascinating historical site. It has survived sieges, battles, and even a devastating fire in the 19th century. Visitors can explore the castle's many rooms, including the Great Hall, the Torture Chamber, and the Dungeon. Additionally, the castle has an impressive collection of art, tapestries, and furniture, giving visitors a glimpse into the lives of the castle's former residents. Our visit to Chillingham Castle was an immersive experience that allowed us to travel back in time and witness its rich and varied history. Whether mew are interested in ghosts, history, or architecture, Chillingham Castle has something for everypawdy, making it a must-visit destination.
